Rating: Summary: I can't recommend you purchase this disappointment. Review: The series seems to be getting darker and darker in tone. The main characters have become petty and lacking in the spark present in varying degrees in the four previous volumes of the series.
Rating: Summary: Still Going Strong Review: While I must admit, it doesn't have quite the force of some of the others, it was still great. It is simply being compared to great things. It was certainly different than many of the others, more political and less down to the action, but it was still good. I heard somewhere Sword of Truth was to be a six book series, I await the next book eagerly.
Rating: Summary: A Downward Spiral? Review: I can tell you that I was looking forward to the latest enstallement in the Sword of Truth series in the hopes that it would be better than the last two, but SoF actually turned out to be worse. The series itself has been on a downward spiral. The characters that were introduced were of no importance in the end, and the storyline itself had "manufactured" written all over it. If you truly like the series, you should read it, but I strongly recommend that you wait for the paperback.
Rating: Summary: Great but not the best Review: I like this book, but it did not compare to the others, I didn't like the fact that Richard didn't learn anymore of his magic than what he already new. The sword of truth also realy never came into the playing field. To me this was just a big lead into the next book, I hope it comes out soon and is as good as the first four books, and hopefully as long as the first two. Soul of the Fire was good, but it didn't compare to the first four books.
Rating: Summary: Very Disappointed Review: The Soul of Fire was a major disappointment. The returning characters had absoultely no new development. More pages were devoted to new characters who ended up to have no significance. Kahlan was nothing more than a nagging and jealous wife. Hardly any pages were from Richard's perspective. I kept hoping it would get better as I read along but it didn't. Even the end was a disappointment.
Rating: Summary: Not up to Par Review: I have to admit that ever since I happened to pick up Stone of Tears in an airport I've hungered for these books. I could hardly contain myself as publication day drew near for Soul of the Fire. I was in for a disappointment however. Half of the book is spent on characters that were anything but sympathetic and as far as I can tell just served to illustrate the impact of ignorance and power mongering. There wasn't nearly enough of the casual interaction among characters that I so loved in the other books. Soul of the Fire lacked the same sense of urgency that the other stories had and this instalment seemed to do very little to advance the overall storyline of the series. I guess I'll just have to wait a year or so for the next book and hope for the best (which is what I've come to expect from Mr. Goodkind).
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: Once agin Mr. Goodkind delivers. I have just finished reading this book and must say I was happy with it. I love these books because they put you there ,in the action. You are not just reading you are experiencing. The book has emotion and color. The one down fall was that the end came quick but leaves lots of loose ends to be tied in the next book. It left me wanting more.
Rating: Summary: Goodkind has written a political satire with this one. Review: In his latest work, Goodkind has mixed the world of the Sword of Truth, with the our world. The hero, Richard, has to compete with some evil politicians. The worst one has the initials, B.C. his wife has the initials, H.C., and they share a young daughter they don't care about, and have sent off to boarding school. He gives us a country where the minority, has overcome the majority because the majority ceeded power; due to their feeling bad about how they treated the minority. The country has a magic shield, which if we replace the word "magic", with the word "technology", gives us a "star-wars" defense shield. As a military man myself, I was struck by how accurate Goodkind has depicted the wimping of the Defense Department. Coincidentally, the DD in Defense Department, matches the DD of this magic defense walls name. Goodkind gives us a military where the majority of soldiers are women, and the men of the majority Harkin, who are too aggressive, are not permitted to serve. They all get slaughtered while holding a candle-light vigil to protest the invading hordes of the Imperial Order. It is a pretty canny description of the current debacle about building democracy, even down to the monitoring of the voting, and the children speaking about give peace a chance. Compared to the other books in the series, I thought it was pretty weak. However, in its presentation of the politics of this country I thought the book totally rocked!!!!
Rating: Summary: This isnt the end to the series is it? Review: TSOF was a good read, but its nothing compared to hi other books, this book was kind of dull, but im sure his next book will rock, the order are in the midlands, zedd will teach richard, hopefully the next book will be nothing but blood and magic :)
Rating: Summary: New installment to the SOW series is the best ever! Review: I have almost finished this phenomenal piece of literature and I must say that it continues in the tradtion of quality in all of Goodkind's novels. To those of you who say that his books are no good, and that he takes his ideas from the Wheel of Time series, you a wrong. I am an avid fan of Jordan, and I fell that he and Goodkind are at a par. Once again SOTF is great, and I hope the 6th book is as good.
