Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Interesting. It keeps you guessing about the final outcome. Review: "Soul of Fire" was an interesting read. Richard, Khalan, and Zed are back, and are finally reuinited with eachother. Although Goodkind showed his usual inventive imagination about Richard Cypher's ever-growing abilities, this chapter in the "Sword of Truth" saga lacked in areas. There is too, much enfacise on the book's new characters and not enough on the heros. When is he going to deal with the Imperial Army? Jagang, the chief nemesis of both the "New World" and the "Old World" has not been given proper time again. In summary: It was a very interesting book. It's well written and has enough information to keep the die-hard "Sword of Truth" fans involved in the adventure. As compared to the first three books, "Soul of Fire" lacks certain elements. It is about as good as "Temple of Winds". It is an enjoyable read.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Goodkind is Maturing as a Writer. Review: Soul of the Fire may not be as fast paced as its predecessors, but it definitely reflects Goodkind's growth as a writer. It is an enjoyable and thoughtful/intelligent departure from his usual structure. I do hope, however, that he brings back some of the raw uninhibited action that made his first books - of this series - so entertaining.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A most excellent suspense and even hearbreaking book Review: Wizard's First Rule is one of my favorite books and someone who likes fantasy or wizards or that kind of stuff this is definitely a must. Although I must admit that I did not really enjoy buying the books which most of them are 10.00 bucks each this one was definitely worth it. I have read all of them but Soul of the Fire and if it does not involve Chase or Rachel (who I think should become an important character)I think I will scream. Mr. Goodkind, after all, is not the PERFECT writer no matter how much I liked his first book.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: well... Review: Okay. As wonderful as the SoT series is, the mere fact that i was, by sheer honest judgement, forced to give this book 3 of 5 stars should tell you something.I have a few serious let-downs...Firstly, The amount of pages devoted to the developement of characters that ultimately served no major purpose reached the level of absurdity. (i.e Fitch) Second...Three words. Chase, Nathan, and Gratch. HELLO?! Where the hell ARE they?!? Thirdly...Enough of Jagang. This is growing tiresome. I find it hard to believe that heroes who are able to banish the Keeper himself, essentialy the lord of Hell, can't put this doofus away. Dream Walker or no dream walker, he is hardly the devil. I knew this guy would be around for awhile as soon as Richard had to relinquish his newly acquired unimaginable power in book 4. Without he can't stomp the proverbial mudhole in Jagang I though he surely would. Fourth, and easily most importantly...Richard would NEVER quit!! Surely being the author Mr. Goodkind knows this! Are we too believe that the dedicated Seeker of Truth, Lord Rahl of D'Hara we have come to know to be a man of unparralelled perseverance and hope would just QUIT?! Im repulsed that Goodkind would even think to do this to his characters after all he has out them through. Richard would NEVER abandon the Midlands. If you've read the books I'm sure you will agree. However I must admit that I liked seeing Cara in action, Dalton Campbell was a great character, and the Chicken-that-isnt-a-chicken is hysterical. I will be awaiting book six. There better BE a book six.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Good, but not as good Review: Goodkind is the kind of author that can get you started on something and pull at you so relentlessly that you often find yourself sitting in bed at 2 in the morning with the book in hand and wondering where all the time went by. His first two novels were prime examples of this, and I found myself addicted to Goodkind and his style of writing. With his fifth installment in the "Sword of Truth" series, Goodkind manages to capture that same magic in a very different way. For the first time, Goodkind delves into not only war, battles, love and all that good stuff but into a political arena where he demonstrates that he is still a master craftsmanship. I really enjoyed his fifth novel (after being a little disappointed by the 3rd and 4th installments) and I found myself drawn into the political intrigue of Anderith. Although the ending (a trademark of Goodkind?) was less than satisfactory, the novel had enough substance to hold the reader spellbound in a way that is reminiscient of his first two installments but not as completely. A good read.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Terry Goodkind does it again! Review: Praise to Goodkind for pumping out another outstanding book in what could be called one of the greatest fantasy series of all time. In Soul of the Fire, Richard Rahl and his beloved Kahlan must put a stop to the Chimes- beings of the Underworld capable of ending all magic- while attempting to slow down Jagang's armies bent on enslaving the Midlands. What has always impressed me about Goodkind's writing is that he can take you to the edge, where it looks seemingly hopeless for good to win and finding yourself at the end of the book with a happy ending. Terry Goodkind has succeeded in doing this (and oh so much more!) in his latest installment of The Sword of Truth. If you have yet to begin reading this series then now is an even better time to start!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Fans should be Patient! Review: I have enjoyed all of Terry Goodkinds books - from start to "Soul of Fire". Let's be realistic in order for any author to create a story line there will always be some slow books or some better than others. I am sure he is just setting up the fans to be blown away with his next title. As long as Richard and Kahlan lives in this creator - I'll be reading.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: For the love of GOD! Review: Alrighty..I love the way Goodkind writes, I love the first books in the series, but for the love of God, will he get back to writing about important parts of the storyline? The thing that made me the most upset about the book was that with 10 pages left I was still wondering what was going to happen and if everyone was going to die! COME ON! Its called "Wrap it up". He spent I don't know how many hundreds of pages talking about Fitch and Baeta and all the stupid Anders and less than 2 pages about actually getting rid of the chimes! 2 pages! GEEZ! I hate that I have to buy the next book to feel fullfilled when I know it will just tear me apart like this one did. GET WITH IT TERRY!
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: It could have been worse. Review: I've read the whole series so far, and this was the 1st of the books I purchased in hardcover. To be honest, I should have waited for the paperback. The book starts off kinda slow, and it takes it's time building to the action (what little there is of it!), but it is sort of interesting being introduced to a new people. The whole politic-ing thing was new for Richard, as I don't really consider what he was doing in Aydindril to be "political". That part was actually quite interesting, I thought. I disliked the parts involving the Imperials toward the end, as I thought they'd either seize the day earlier, or they'd go ahead and abide by the vote. I also thought Goodkind handled the resolution concerning Dalton Campbell poorly. Being that the end resolution hadn't been hinted at earlier, and DC hadn't had a chance to visit with the others mentioned and compare notes before he sees Richard, I don't see where his declaration came from. The plot's resolution seemed a little weak too, compared to the other books in the series, but it was okay. In the end it almost seemed too easy, and I still don't understand completely how Richard was supposed to have done it, but I imagine it could have been worse. I wonder where Goodkind's going with the story next...
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Not all that bad but the end seemed an imploded soufflé... Review: I like Mr Goodkind's SotF, though it is not as strong as his earlier books. I felt somewhat let down at the 'grand finale'. The series might just as well end here ... not even a hint for a sequel this time. Should he decide to write a sequel though, I fervently hope he recovers the spark that characterized his earlier books.
