Summary: An absolutely fantastic series!
Review: I would like to see all of the people who gave the Sword of Truth saga a bad rap try to write even a paragraph a third as good as the entire series has been. If they are so stupid they can't see a masterpiece at work they shouldn't bother reading at all.

Summary: Not the best, but still a good read
Review: Terry Goodkind is one of my favorite authors, so I was kind of disappointed in his latest book. Although I very much enjoyed the political intrigue, the book tended to focus on the new characters. I had thought he would switch back and forth, with subplots on the characters (ie the Mord-Sith at the Confessor's Palace) as he did in his previous books, but this time Goodkind seemed to have his attention on politics. The only thing I really didn't enjoy at all was the character "Fitch". First off, in my mind he's a imbecile, and second of all, I keep thinking b---h instead of his actual name. I had hoped that there would be more fight scenes, but the only blood shed in this novel is exchanged in a battle of wit and insults at court. All in all, a good read, hopefully the sixth book will be better. Goodkind did his job; he lured us with the first book and keeps us hanging for the next, no matter how good or bad it is.

Summary: Could it get any worse?
Review: I've followed this series from the first book. And from the first book I knew what to expect from a Sword of Truth book: an awkward, overwritten, unlikely yarn with flat characters, tired themes, and hackneyed magic. Other than that, I could expect a pretty good story. The one thing I never expected was dull. Soul of fire achieves dull.

Summary: Not the best, but good.
Review: I saw so many bad reviews of this book that I felt I had to defend it. I really enjoyed this book. The world and characters Goodkind has created fascinates me. I think Richard and Kahlan are believable characters. They each have their faults and each help the other overcome those faults.

However, I was disappointed that Goodkind tended to focus more on the new characters than on the main characters. This change in focus did not make the book bad, but did make it a less enjoyable read for me. The ending was a little of a let down, which I beleive was intended. I beleive that it will be resolved in the next book and was only left a cliffhanger in order for Goodkind to have a segue into the 6th book.

Overall, it was a good book: excellently written and wonderfully imaginative. I can't wait for the next one.

Summary: Not the best of series, but gives understanding of Midlands
Review: This book was a little dissapointing from the previous 4, It does enlarge the understanding of how the Midlands and its people think and feel, but I felt that these things could have been explained during the story told of Richard and Kahlen, instead of the reverse. The story is about political intrigue and one of the small nations of the Midlands with a secret power not quite understood. It is the first real battleground in the New World fought between Jagang and Richard, through diplomacy and intrigue.

Summary: Skip this book, or borrow it from a friend
Review: My advice would be just ignore the fact that this book was ever written.  If you need something to do between book 4 and book 6 pick it up in the used book store or borrow it from one of your friends who wasn't warned in time.  There is maybe 50 pages of new material in the whole book (and that may be an over statement).  Also the writing is absolutely horrible.  At least 100 pages of text should have been edited out of the manuscript before it was published because it's completely and totally redundant.  How many times can Richard think to himself how important it is that he's the seeker of truth?

I listened to it on tape which in some ways is even worse. The narrator was at a loss with what to do with such dramatically boring material and his rendition of the dialogue is every bit as flat as it deserves

Summary: Please, no more!
Review: Goodkind has quite an imagination if he can imagine something worse than this. Will these people never die? It's hard to find plots so obvious and characters so wooden in B movies, much less in a book of this length. Here we have a failed attempt to explain away all the inconsistencies of the earlier books, and again, the characters are conveniently either omnipotent or fragile. Make them go away.

Summary: Different but not bad
Review: In spite of all the negative reviews on this book, I very much enjoyed it...THe only thing is, it's different from the other books in the series: It is more about new characters and politics than magic. And THAT'S a shame as far as I am concerned. I was thrilled to read about the world of the sword of Truth and the way magic worked in it.Here, It is as though we are getting nearer and nearer to our world: suddenly Richard learns to give mouth to mouth instead of healing and all sorts of such things. I would have preffered the magic issue be more inspected. But, apart frm that: it would not be true to say that it's mediocre.just different.

Summary: Had To Read It Twice
Review: Wizard's First Rule was possibly one of the best books I have ever read. I had to read it twice, because the first time went way to fast. I could not put it down. The way Goodkind makes his characters come alive, you could almost head down the street and talk to them. READ THIS BOOK

Summary: The book was good but the ending was not.
Review: I found this book ok, there was a lot of explaning and it just wasn't all that interesting. There forth book, Temple of Winds was excellent. I think that should have been the end of The Sword of Truth series and Mr. Terry Goodkind should start a new series of novel. I mean, the Soul of the fire was just so, plain. It didn't really draw you into the novel like the other four before it. It was indeed not one of his best work, he's a great author and all but the ending of the soul of fire, it was like he was in a rush to finsh it or something.
