Rating: Summary: What would life be like? Review: What would life be like in a world of magic. Robert Jordan gives us the experience in this series. It is the deepest and most thorough series I have ever read. I keep re-reading the books and picking more and moer details about this saga
Rating: Summary: For an opposing view... Review: Let me preface by saying that I liked THIS book. It was well written with intriguing characters, good plot, and some interesting ideas. But the books that follow are simply terrible. The world is flat, with little to distinguish cultures. Religion is one-sided (with all the fear of the Dark One, why is there NO church to the Creator?) The characters are annoying at best, stereotypical at worst, with sexist overtones. (Female mages, for want of a better word, get their power by being passive and receptive, males by being aggressive and dominating it, etc.) I quit reading the series somewhere in the 6th book. I kept hoping that Jordan would do something that showed the promise of the first book, but it doesn't seem likely. The reason for the praise that is lavished on this series is beyond me, but to each their own!
Rating: Summary: An absolute 'must read' for lovers of Sci-fi/Fantasy!! Review: Characters and plots abound in this fantastic saga! I am amazed that Mr. Jordan is able to keep all of this together, and do it so remarkably well! The Wheel of Time will definitely join Tolkien's Rings as a classic. If you like being 'caught-up' in the lives of characters; experiencing the twists & turns of plot; and generally enjoying excellent writing, this is the series for you! I look forward to each new addition, and actually look forward to rereading the entire series when a new book comes out! Great reading!!!!
Rating: Summary: Tolkien meets Dickens Review: This is a terrific series! The characters are as colorful and memorable as Dickens at his best. These characters are thrown into a richly drawn world with an extremely intricate plot and the epic struggle of good versus evil found in Tolkien. This provides for highly addictive and enjoyable entertainment.
Rating: Summary: God made the world but Robert Jordan wrote the Wheel of Time Review: This is the single greatest epic ever to enter the realm of fantasy. Never have I read a series of books, and I have read many in my time, so rich and deep that when you finish each book the characters continue to live inside your mind. The story, similar in nature to ones we have all read before, bring a completely original twist to fantasy that authors for years will strive to immitate, but fail to reach this standard. The characters and lands are so alive, the story so involving, I feel cheated in reading it, because I know I'll never get to read a story as good again. This series is a must for any reader of any persuasion, you'll never forget it. All in all I am enjoying the series :)
Rating: Summary: Let the Dragon Ride Again on the Winds of Time-R.J. Review: This is not your basic Swords and Magic adventure story. The characters, lands and events become so real that they take on a life of their own. Each novel is bigger, better, and more complex than the last. If there is one series you read in your life, this should be the one.
Rating: Summary: Completely Addictive Review: I have read Tolkien,Heinlen, Herbert,Donaldson, Eddings and a great many others. This series by Jordan is by far the best and worst I've ever read. The characters are so well developed that you can imagine what they are thinking even when it's not printed. The world so clearly rendered, that you see, smell, hear, and feel it rather than read about it. Yet unlike other books, there are no filler pages. Everything in the story, from the first scene to the last, is important and will come back to haunt you. I absolutely love this series. I have and will read it again and again. The thing that makes it the worst is the eternity between books. Until this series is complete, and my guess is ten or eleven books, every other book I read will only be a place holder.
Rating: Summary: His Peace was the Peace of the Sword Review: These books are some of the best ever. They have an incredible mix of action, romance, and tragedy. It is all blended together by Robert Jordan's unsupaced skill. It is a true joy to see a series like this emerge and grow.Truly Robert Jordan is a master of words and prose. A pinacle in his Genre.
Rating: Summary: The First Three Books of the Wheel of Time Series Review: I say this to everyone out there. You will NEVER read a better series then this, except perhaps The Lord of the Rings by Tolkien (Also available at Amazon.com). This series has action, adventure, and a rich, believable world of people you feel like you know. "Let the Dragon ride again on the Winds of Time." -The Eye of the World I would welcome comments from anyone who wants to discuss the book.
Rating: Summary: Jordan's Series No Rip Off Review: Many people have claimed that Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series is a rip off of one story or another. They claim similarities such as a Messiah figure, or mystical castes...if taken in this light, nearly all fiction is a rip off from the world's religious texts. These are standard fixtures in ANY great fantast because they are so deeply rooted in the human psyche. It hits home, and that is what makes it great. Robert Jordan is the best author, in my opinion, to write fantasy in my entire generation. I would strongly encourage ANYone who enjoys reading to check these books out. Also, please feel free to respond to this review.
