Rating: Summary: very good Review: i read this book and loved it. I'm 14 so i think that this book is good for many differant age groups.
Rating: Summary: Yo encanto! Review: Wonderfully described were the characters, the history, and the surroundings throughout the story. I fell in love with this book the moment I started it, and was enraptured until the end. Mary Stewart writes the most romantic stories I've ever experienced!
Rating: Summary: Plot, character and best of all good writing. Review: Years ago I started reading A Crystal Cave and put it down because it wasn't the Mary Stewart I was used to. Then one day I read The Hollow Hills, loved it and then went back and finished A Crystal Cave, and read The Hollow Hills again. I must have read both these books a dozen times before The Wicked Day was finally published. When you read the Trilogy, especially the first 2 parts, watch for Biblical allusions. There's an allegory here. Watch for the Flight to Brittany scene in The Hollow Hills. And above all, pay attention to the language. When Merlin speaks there's rhythm and cadence that create power.
Rating: Summary: A real man for a real world.... Review: Contrary to popular opinions on Merlin as "the mystical, mysterious wizard", Mary Stewart portrays him as a man. Now, this Merlin is an extremely intelligent man, whose "powers" don't come from brews or spells, but come as messages from GOD. I think these books bring about a different view of legend, making the reader truly part of the story, not only because Mary Stewart is great at description, but because she gives all her characters the faults, thoughts and actions of everyday people.
Rating: Summary: This book is a masterpiece. Review: I have read this trilogy over and over, both in English and in Russian translation. This is a masterpiece, which can stand along with such classical works of literature as Bulgakov's "Master and Margarita", Alexander Duma's "Queen Margo", Charles Dickens' "Domby and son". Mary Stewart not only impresses the reader with a human wisdom of her book, she also describes splendidly the beauty of Wales landscapes. She makes the reader feel nature with his heart. This work is a deep look inside a human soul. Mary Stewart shows us something that is universal for all people. The book is just marvelous, both as a historical discription of Arthurian epoche and as a psychological novel.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely wonderful tale of Merlin and Aruthur Review: I read Mary Stewart's Merlin Trilogy before going on a long trip to the United Kingdom. It was a wonderful way to learn about the country and some of it's "history". I think this series is a must-read for anybody remotely interested in King Aruthur or Great Britain. I love the books!!!!
Rating: Summary: Merlin's story told the way it should be! Review: I have read the three Merlin books as well as the one on Mordred, Arthur's bastard son. If only there were more writers to tell a tale as grand as these! Mary Stewart has a way of telling things that makes everything magical and practical. I love these stories! Thank you, Mary Stewart!
Rating: Summary: Merlin Legend FINALLY told right! Review: A spectacular work by Mary Stewart. I am a collector of Merlin legends and I have my own theories on who he was and how it happened. At last an author has written down almost exactly what I have thought. DEFINATELY worth a try!
Rating: Summary: The Merlin Triligy Makes Magic Come Alive Review: Mary Stewart has succeed in making the mystical character of Merlin someone we can all understand and love. She has woven him further into the Arther ledgend than ever before, but allowed him for the fist time to stand alone. She has given him his own story and his own magically destined adventures
Rating: Summary: Merlin Trilogy touches your heart and soul. Review: This book takes you through merlin's life from his childhood through his death. It is the most fantastic story with regards to pulling a reader into and holding their attention. When characters die you feel as though you lost a family member. When I finished it I felt a sense of emptyness because I had grown with the Merlin character and shared his successes. When the story was over I felt as though I lost a friend.
