Rating: Summary: Beautiful work Review: In my opinion this is one of his best. A bit more mature than, say, Stranger In The Strange Land for example. Oh well the sexism is still there as it is in all his works, but you just have to love the storytelling. Just beautiful.
Rating: Summary: Awful reading Review: The writing style of this book is extremely annoying. The author leaves out certain pronouns and articles, totally disrupting the flow of the English language (I think the word "the" was only used once in the entire first chapter, which was as much as I could read without being sick). Maybe Heinlein was trying to be "futuristic", but it just ended up being stupid.
Rating: Summary: A fantastic sci-fi classic. Review: This book is a masterpiece. One of Heinlein's best, it is written in a futuristic form of english that some readers might find difficult to read. I, on the other hand, found my self even thinking in it during the time I was finishing the book.
Rating: Summary: This books made me want to live on the moon... Review: After reading The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, I wanted to live on the moon. This book changed the way I look at the world. I know it's only fiction, but after you read it you also will want to buy the first available ticket to the moon.
Rating: Summary: Just Great! Review: One of the best Sci-Fi novels I have ever read! That's it. Period. Do I have to tell anything else?
Rating: Summary: Good, but obnoxious Review: Yeah, it's a great book, at least for the first five chapters. But I could only get that far because the stilted, pronoun- and article-less English was too hard to follow. Sorry, Heinlein. This one's not as great as the others.
Rating: Summary: one of the all-time top-ten sci-fi classics Review: This classic is perhaps even more relevant now than it was when it was written. We need more authors like Robert A. Heinlein, people who can intelligently portray a viable culture different than standard American. All too often, those authors who think of themselves as "alternative" or "progresive" are simply negative, but Heinlein's logical and world-wise musings on politics and culture are worth reading, even if they weren't clothed in a rich and entertaining story.
Rating: Summary: Heinlien's best book. Review: The most exciting, thought rocking book Heinlien wrote. None of the preachiness of his later books.
Rating: Summary: The Finest Science Fiction literature I have ever read... Review: Robert A. Heinlein is the one of the the finest, nay, THEE finest author of science fiction, at least in my opinion, and in many of my fellow reviewers opinions. In a simple three words, READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: No! Review: Well I must admit that this guy has some nifty ideas. The story itself was pretty bleeding cool, but I could not stand the wording. For instantce, where a sentence should have said: "...He ran across the field, wielding his massive sword..." It was printed in the book like: "...Ran across the field, wielding massive sword..." What doesn't Robby boy understand that here in America, pro-nouns are quite important? I have heard that it was originally written in German or something, and some words were lost in the translation. Even if this is true, would the translator have the common sense to fill in all those annoying gaps? I had to stop reading after several chapters. I did not want to pollute my mind with such terrible english. Oh well.
