Summary: 'Jedi' Philosophy, finally
Review: This book does not have the sort of action of the fighting kind. It is filled with not-quite-Jedi-but-definitely-force-user philosophy! I have wondered much about how the Yuuzahn Vong could not be felt through the force, and this book shows how that is possible through Jacen Solo, who slowly, finally breaks away from 'Uncle Luke's' shadow. Jacen has always held his own opinions, and he is forced into making some very new revelations about the force. This book is the sort of thought filled book that I have been looking forward too. Besides, what New Jedi Order fan can't be pleased to finally find out what happened to Jacen?

Summary: Fascinating
Review: One of the most interesting aspects of the Star Wars saga is the unique combination of philosophy and action, the never-ending debate over light and dark. "Traitor" is a prime example of this. To date, Jacen Solo is the most philosopically-minded cahacters that I have seen, maybe even more so than Luke. I have found that his constant questioning of his life and the force provide a unique perspective. That being said, however, I was also extremely pleased that Jacen finally has the chance to play action hero, while at the same time dealing with all of his previous questions (not to mention all the new ones as well), as well as the loss of Anakin. I miss Anakin greatly, though like another review writer I also have a theory about his "death", but it looks like his older brother is respectably honoring his memory and sacrifice. All of this has given Jacen some suprising character development, and possibly the beginnings of the turning of the tide of war against the Vong.

Then there's the enigmatic Vergere. Like Jacen, I am still not sure what to make of her. It will be interesting to see what direction the series takes her character, which side she ultimately ends up on.

Summary: awesome!
Review: i thought it was a great idea, bringing Vergere back, from the agents of chaos duology and finally revealing her own philosophy, why she went with the Vong back before Rogue Planet(between Episodes one and two.) its a good book. this answers a lot of questions i had, concerning Jacen, and what went on there. it also offers other views of the Force, that have been hinted at in previous NJO books. i can wait to read destiny's way. it should be good, see how things go, and find out who this possible saviour of the new republic and the jedi might be that Luke hinted at in an earlier NJO book.

Summary: Intellectually Advancing the NJO Series
Review: I have read all of the Star Wars books. I have to admit I was getting a little bored with NJO -- same old battles with coral skips and Yuuzhan Vong warriors.

"Traitor" delved into the mystery of why the Jedi cannot sense the Vong through the Force and takes Jacen further down the path explored by Luke as to the nature of the Force. I hope that a subsequent book will find Jacen discussing what he has experienced with Luke.

This book gets my highest recommmendation. Only caveat is that you need to read the other NJO books first so that this story will be in context.

Summary: interesting new developments
Review: I found traitor to be a great turn of events for the Jedi. The book confirmed my suspicions that Jacen Solo was still alive, but underwent a life changing experience. I am not sure what to think of Vergere, as she had me confused for much of the story. I think this was a very interesting book, with more than a few lessons to offer. I recommend this book to anyone who has read Star by Star, as it picks up right where Jacen was captured by the Yuuzhan Vong.

Summary: Excellent thought provoking read
Review: I read this book in about two days. This is one of the better books in the series so far. It is about Jacen Solo who is alive and being tortured by the Yuuzhan Vong (saying he's alive isn't a spoiler, is it?). The aptly named book follows Vergere as she/he/it seems to be on his side, then switches and does something terrible to Jacen. This continues throughout the book and leaves you wondering which side Vergere really is on.

The biggest triumph in the book is the character development of Jacen Solo. In previous books he seemed like such a whiner, always stradling the fence and never really deciding whether he wanted to be a jedi or not, not sure what was right and what was wrong, not sure whether to act or wait. Thru Vergere's manipulations, Jacen is frequently put into positions where he must act first, then he later looks back on his actions and tries to decide whether or not he did the right thing. Vergere is constantly making him rethink his position on his ethics and morals, his view of the light side and dark side of the force (his major personal conflict to date).

This book really does an excellent job exploring the mind of Jacen Solo, showing his journey from confusion about the Force into clarity about not only the Force, but himself as well. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series to see where this develops...

Summary: I love it!!!!
Review: Just when you thought the end is near for the New Republic a new sprit of resistance is sparked.

I think that this is a wonderful book Jacen starts too explore the true meaning of the force and may with that explanation have discovered a way to beat the Yanen Vog. You will not want to put this one down, I must have read all of it within a 12 hour period.

I truely hope that this book represents a reversal in fortunes for the good guys. Even if it doesn't it still makes for interesting reading.

Overall-This serise is not a book for your average star wars fan who wants to see the good guys win ALL the time. At least in this serise when there is a victory it has meaning. I think this can be best expressed twofold

You never fully appriciate a charecter untill he's dead(Anakin)

You also never fully appriciate a charecter untill he is borught back from the dead(Jacen)

Summary: Hmmmmm...
Review: First off let me say I am a big star wars fan and NJO is by far the best of the book seriers. With that out out of the way this book was a interesting romp through jacens head and the twisted teaching of a disgruntaled Jedi master (verger). There are 2 big problems in my mind the first is the complete lack of points of view, we get aa great glimps of jacens (Rather dark) thoughts. The other POV is Nom Amor who for the most part talks/thinks of self preservation so mutch the it seems like he whinning. I would only recomend this book to fans of the series.

Summary: Traitor is a book unlike any other
Review: I loved Traitor, it was worth every penny.
It was also quite unlike any SW book I have read so far, much more philosophical than say the Enemy Lines duology wich was much more action oriented, but that was a good thing I thought.

This book also turns a few concepts upside down and introduces new viewpoints, some of this I have noticed has been quietly hinted at in earlier books in the EU too, one is also given some hints as to why the Vong are not seen in the force by the Jedi.

All in all, this is a very good book, I read through it very quickly though because of that.

I must say that the NJO has gotten alot better now with these latest releases after Star by Star.

Let's hope the trend lasts.

Summary: What were they thinking
Review: I don't know how they got Lucas' approval to write this drivel, but apparently the author doesn't like Star Wars at all. According to one of the main characters, everything we know about the force is wrong, Yoda was a deluded fool, and all wisdom comes from a humanoid chicken. Apparently this science fiction writer didn't realize that Star wars is not science fiction, but space fantasy, with clear good and evil. I'm sure the author is fine in other settings, but he really does not understand the dynamic of Star Wars, and so he makes our beloved characters out to be idiots for holding the beliefs that Jedi have held fo thousands of years. The Power of the Jedi sourcebook
for the Star Wars roleplaying game handles these subjects in a much better fashion, consistant with the wonderful fantasy world that George Lucas originally created.
