Review: I had hesitated when I read some of the negative reviews that categorized this particular book as being "a bore". I've seen other series wind down to an embarassingly pathetic end after glorious beginnings (Dune, Ender's Game), and I was afraid that this would ruin in my mind the beautiful tapestry the first three books had presented...But I was wrong. This last book left me shaking. It combines the personal passion found in such great detail in Hyperion with the galactic opera found in Fall of Hyperion and Endymion... and promises a climax that will leave you with its afterimages for days to come... All I can think now is how sad I am the series and the wonderful world that has been revealed to me over these four books has to end now.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great end to the best Sci-Fi series ever!! Review: This was a great book! A must read--I hated to put it down and hope Mr. Simmons continues the series!!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Beautiful beyond description Review: Rise of Endymion is a beautiful conclusion to the Hyperion saga. I cannot get the first three books out of mind; this volume is equally unforgettable. There is perhaps a more human element in this novel, since there is a lot more interior than exterior action. But it is nonetheless enjoyable. I cannot even begin to describe all of the philosophic issues that are addressed with this book. One can never think about death in the same way again. Dan Simmons must have a beautiful soul.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Mediocre and slow Review: The first three books in this series were excellent. This book was tiring. It was mediocre up until the half-way point then I could not make it through the rest. I skimmed the rest just to see what happened and how it ended.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: the absolute WORST book of the series Review: PLEASE listen to me and ignore all favorable reviews toward this book. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SPEND ANY OF YOUR MONEY ON THIS BOOK. If you wish to be masochistic then at least get the book for free at a library and only waste your time. I would have given it neagative stars.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Touching and thought provoking Review: This was a fitting end to the Hyperion saga. However there were still some unaswered questions about the exact nature of the great future conflict between humanity and the core. Overall I found the main characters engaging and the relationship between Aenea and Raul well drawn, though perhaps a little over sentimental. The great vistas drawn in space and on a range of beautiful worlds were well described and the action sequences suitably thrilling. Aenea's philosophy and moto were thought provoking and done in a not-too-heavy handed way. Altogether a superb piece of visionary writing.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: What a great book! Finishes the story nicely Review: This book was on the whole great it was very beautifully written. While it did not have the greatest plot or characters it explained every thing to me. This was very good and fit into it's place in the saga well. It was meant to be a book to end the series and explain everything. However some parts were confusing, like the apearence of the some of the original Hyperion characters (excluding Martin Silenius he rules)also the whole deal with rachel is confusing. I will definitley read the books (all of them) again to firmly grasp his ideas. My favourite books are this one and Fall of Hyperion Endymion was the worst but still fairly good.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: This book should be retitled to "The Bore of Endymion". Review: This is the most tiresome book I've ever read. Instead of just dropping it, which I rarely do to a book but was sorely tempted, I decided to "speed read" parts of it just to know how it all ends. I don't know why I bothered. Read the 1st 3 books and have someone give you a synopsis of the 4th. I was so turned off by it's verbiage that it's unlikely I'd ever buy another Dan Simmons book again.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The best of the Hyperion saga... Review: Just one word: Wow! I read it twice already and I can't put it out of my mind. I really love the first three, but this one is icing on the cake. Of course they're is a little less action than the other ones, but hey, we go much further into the minds of the different actors. Beautiful book all the way to the end, wich is quite surprising... at least for myself. I e-mailed Mr. Simmons with my comments and my thanks about the whole Hyperion saga, and especially Rise of Endymion. And guess what? He replied to me the same day I wrote to him. This was one of the best day of my life. Best book I've ever read and an answer from his author. If you want to read something special and mesmerizing this summer, pick up this saga. You won't be dissapointed...
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Fa-bu-lous! Review: I have read the all the books in this series (~2000 pages), and I'm telling you - not even Isaac Asimov's Foundation series came close to the heights I've reached with this saga. Definitely the best, most finely-woven science fiction I've seen in my 22 years on earth.
