Summary: One story, four parts
Review: I started reading the series with HYPERION way back when it was first released in paperback....As a result of this I spent many years waiting for the tale to wind itself out. An excellent work, truly draws you into the plot and makes you care vehemently about the characters' fates. Don't get confused: Witnessing the evloution of this great plot is a committment (2400+ pages worth) but is well worth it. After finishing RISE OF ENDYMION, my head swam for several days, reviewing and appreciating the entirety of Mr. Simmons' creation.

Summary: Almost wreaked my car while reading! Couldn't put it down.
Review: Fantastic conclusion. Loved it almost as much as Hyperion. Some of the discusions were lengthy and detracted from the action, but were wonderfully worded and necessary to tie the series together. I'm looking forward to reading the whole series again.

Summary: if you read all four books it's a great ending
Review: It took me a while to get into Dan Simmons world, but this last book is a great conclusion, with a lot off insights. I loved the long, sad ending - beautifully done. Everything falls into place, a lot of the questions that keep you going through the first books are answered, many in a surprising way. Some profound ideas - and a lot of stuff to get you dreaming of humankinds possibilities - and I really liked what Simmons did to the Catholic church at the very end.

Summary: The book was ok but not as tight as his previous work
Review: The book was pretty good but I thought most of the long conversations regarding Aenea's teachings were way to long and unnecessary. Also, the end was weak and I thought he should have summed up a lot more about various things i.e. the shrike, the pope etc. It was also weak that Aenea died just like that after all that time and for no good and basically I thought the end sucked. It's ok though cuz Dan is still cool even though he is a morbid man and some of his books just aren't as good as they should be.

Summary: Future History Panorama
Review: As an avid science fiction and history reader, Dan Simmons' fourth book in the Hyperion/ Endymion Cantos continues to impress me with his use of historical metaphors in his future history of man and his progeny. Instead of the Titan/God mythology, he now moves to the collapse of the Roman Empire and the ascendancy of the Church. The book is well written and will be appreciated by readers of western history. A weaving of occasionally sublime science fiction with historical fabric.

Summary: Once again, a series that was run into the ground
Review: Much like other science fiction series such as Foundation and Dune, Dan Simmons started out with interesting and fresh ideas and plot lines and then ran them into the ground. In is hard to have an adventure story when some of the characters know what is going to happen, can travel thorough time, and will always be saved by unstopable forces. Shoud have ended it after two books.

Summary: Imagination on a grand scale
Review: Brilliant conclusion (?) to one of the most intelligent and satisfying science fiction offerings in many years. The true power of Simmons's works surfaces through the power of his imagination and the grandeur of his vision. I found that I had to put the book down at times just to let my brain deal with the concepts brought forth. Highly recommended.

Summary: This cannot be the end...
Review: Fall of Endymion kept me awake for many hours, as I had the chance to discover the full 4 books series at the same time. I do think however that there is a different pace between the Hyperions (more dense, more poetic) and the Endymions. The good news is that there are many subtle doors left open : Aenea can be ressurected through her intact ashes, we all wait for final punishment of the 4 horses of Apocalypse that are Nemes and her friends, and some new insights on the future emergence of religions to be disclosed, I am sure, by Dan Simmons. I felt a kind of "emptiness" after the Rise (not the Void that Binds !).

I was at Santa Fe's A-Life III conference where these "parasites" creatures on a computer were disclosed, and I would love to discuss some aspects of it : I do not think that current rules of evolution are actually discovered. Real life mutates much faster than all those experiments.

A great series, with may be too much violence.

Two more years to wait, as I understand !

Summary: Touching, absolutely wonderful ending to a great series.
Review: I rarely read sci-fi, but luckily I picked up Hyperion a few weeks ago, and my life hasn't been the same since! My family has had to pull my nose out of all four of the Hyperion books so that life could go on! Finally, I finished The Rise of Endymion, and returned to the land of 1998 Earth. The characters, story, & philosophy are all deeply imaginative, many-layered and surprisingly profound. Each character is beautifully described and realized, and I can only hope that the stories of several of them will be pursued by Dan Simmons in the future...This writer has a wonderful gift. Just be warned: once you step into the Hyperion universe, you'll be missing from action for days!

Summary: A reasonable conclusion
Review: I decent conclusion to the series. A believeable ended and good story overall.
