Summary: Simply Brilliant
Review: Robin Hobb, the author of the marvellous Farseer trilogy, has again produced a stunning piece of work. Simply could not put the book down, looking froward to the next in the series.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Unable to put it down!!
Review: As I said, I was unable to put down the book, even though I haven't finished it yet.. I got tired of Kennit before Etta, but I liked the depth she gave him afterward. The wizardwood charm he has is truly wise. I like Paragon. He's got a past I absolutely would like to find out about.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Wonderful story! Can't wait for the sequel.
Review: I just couldn't put this book down! I've found that I'm obsessed with Paragon. What happened to his first crew? Who hacked his eyes out? Was it someone who murdered his last crew (if they were murdered) or did he do it to himself? Did he kill his crews? PLEASE Ms. Hobb, don't leave him out of the next book, or I'll go crazy.

Summary: Another riveting adventure from Robin Hobb!
Review: Once again Robin Hobb's vivid and three dimensional characters take us on a riveting adventure that promises the best is yet to come. As for the Kirkus Review, they messed up! Ronica's oldest daughter is Keffria NOT Malta. Those of us who really READ books know the difference! So if you enjoy high epic fantasy adventures and feel like spending time with a few sea serpents and pirates BUY THIS BOOK. It's a keeper!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Ignore Kirkus Reviews
Review: You can forget about the Kirkus Review for this book. What they characterize as unresolved plotlines are actually a terrific setup for the next book. Maybe the faceless minions at Kirkus fail to realize that this is a "book 1" of a series. The characters are well thought out and the story progresses at a rapid clip, pulling the reader along. This easily has the potential to surpass her Assassin trilogy.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: an extraordinary work......she surpasses the assasin series
Review: I have seldom been as quickly absorbed in a book as i was in this one. The characters are so well drawn that each time the focus shifts from one to another, instead of regretting the change you are instantly captivated by the new storyline. The sense of realism is magnificent, and so many stories are started with such masterful energy that the wait for the sequel will be agony!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent novel from the author of the Assassin series..
Review: I found this book to be a great "first novel" for this new adventure (of course, I'm biased -- I loved the "Assassin's Apprentice" series). Both the magic system and the political system are unique and well thought-out, and the characters (while not all pleasant) are believable and interesting.

The hardcover copy I read was a nice 650 or so pages, which makes it a great book to curl up with for a few nights (if you can stand putting it down). On a side note, Ms. Hobb apparently published earlier SF/F novels under the name Megan Lindholm; now I have to go out and find copies of those :)

Overall, I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone who's enjoyed books by Eddings, Jordan, or other similar authors.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Rich, engrossing, complex -- plot is inconclusive
Review: This is a book with a rich, vivid varied set of societies and characters. None of the characters are stereotypes. These are all distinct individuals with their own virtues and vices, strengths and flaws. Two of the main characters; Winstrow and Althea are particularly well rounded. As the story progresses, they grow more and more believable, and more complete.

The story line is disappointing. Despite pirates and slavers, merchants and priests; hunters and slayers; nothing truly momentous happens. Death, birth, betrayal, enslavement, and disillusionment are mere incidentals. The whole book seems to be setting the stage for the next book.

The next book can't come out too soon. This is a wonderful world, with fascinating characters and I want to know what happens. Robin Hobbs has set up three or four potential disasters for her characters, and a couple more for her world. I look forward very much to seeing it. A truly monumental change is being foreshadowed.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Totally Engrossing and Great Entertainment!
Review: This first volume of The Liveship Traders was an excellent encore to The Farseer Trilogy. Hobb fans should be well satisfied. PLEASE MS. HOBB! I CANNOT wait a full year for the sequel. I doubt you need any more pressure than you're already under but...please HURRY.
