Summary: Excellent writer
Review: I found it very interesting to read this series because each book has a different writer. Sometimes a very subtle writing style difference can make a worn out subject fascinating.

Thomas Reid has a great way with words. Better than some of the other writers in the series. I'd be curious to know how it was decided who would write what and how the plot was decided. The endless interplay between characters leaves you laughing and grinning with delight. The plot isn't incredibly brilliant but the real value is the way in which the characters interact. For instance, the character Pharaun, the wizard, comes up with one great jab after another at his "superior" mistress Quenthal. You're not quite sure who's in charge at times.

At this point, I've started the 4th book in the series. It basically boils down to an adventure with a group of superheroes. One crisis after another and cliffhangers abound. There are several plot twists.

I really enjoy this kind of stuff. It's light and fun.

Summary: I liked it! Gimmie more! Next book please!
Review: I really enjoyed reading the second book of this series. Even though the books are written by different authors, I felt the characters maintained the same quirks and wit from the first book to the letter. The differences between the two drow cities was a nice touch, rather than being carbon copies of each other. The political fight,as well as the physical fights, were very enjoyable. Can't wait for the next book!

Summary: Insurrection
Review: I was very wary when I first started this book, it started off so slow I felt sleepy through the first two chapters. But as I got more and more into the story I couldn't put the book down. I especially enjoyed the love-hate relationship that Phaeraun and Quenthel have.

Summary: I loved it
Review: If you are a lover of fantasy, and especially dark elves, this book is perfect for you. It is full of action, some love scenes, though not too many, and is a great embodiment of what dark elves are!

Summary: true to the spirit of Salvatore
Review: Insurrection is an exhausting read. It is very action-packed with huge battles and constant schemeing an intrigue. I devoured it. The author stays very true to the spirit of the Salvatore original series, but brings in fresh ideas/perspectives.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: If you'er interested in Drow, you'll like this series
Review: Insurrection picks up the story from book 1. The underwold has lost the favor of Lloth and with it the clerical spells of Drow females.
The group that is sent to Ched Nasad, Phaerun, Rhyld, Quenthel, are great. Salvatore does a great job in showing each character's unique contribution to the party. There's plenty of battle scenes that involves both magic and melee. I'm already looking forward to the 3rd book to find out what happens.

Summary: ESSENTIAL SERIES!!!
Review: It won't be hard to find a long-time FR or RAS fan out there who'll tell you all the tiny little insignificant ways in which this series is lacking, but what you're really heaing is "I would have done it differently" from some people who fancy themselves authors. Don't listen. This series (so far at least) is FANTASTIC! The first two books more than live up to Salvatore's retupation. Botha re exciting, interesting, well-written (if you're afraid if big words or read at a third grade level check out T.H. lain) and EPIC beyond anything the Forgotten Realms books have done in a very long time. I would recommend this series not only to fans of FR and RAS, but to everyone and anyone who reads fantasy. This is the genre at it's best. If the fact that it part of shared setting puts you off, please just get over it and dive in with the rest of us. This is QUALITY work!

Summary: All RA Salvatore books
Review: Rock , just another good book in the long line of the drow series.

Summary: No drop off from the first one...Amazing story!
Review: Still going strong as one of the best fantasy series ever written (especially considering there's different authors writting each book)

The characters are just as engrossing, and the story's filled with non-stop twists and turns that absolutly will not let you put the book down. I've never read a book so fast.

I'm drooling for the next one.

Summary: awful. too bad they couldn't keep the series going
Review: The first book was excellent, and this one a major dissappointment. Pharaun has lost all his wit, Ryld has turned into a cardboard character and Quentel can sit in for the wicked witch of the west (her whip doesn't even make snide remarks anymore). The Dreagloth has turned into some kind of good samaritan and Ched Nasad isn't an amusing locale as backdrop. To add to all this, combats are skipped over instead of described in all their gory, spell throwing pyrokinetic glory. Who would skip combat descriptions in a FR novel?? This is where I get off the War of the Spider Queen train.
