Rating: Summary: Faith of the Fallen Review: This book was as captivating as the rest of the Sword of Thruth series. I think Goodkind is a brilliant fantasy writer. As with all his books the story was exciting to the bitter end. Keep of the excellent work. I can't wait to read the next one.
Rating: Summary: the most thought provacating of the series Review: This was the best and most thought provacating of the books. the title befits this book, for there are many questions the characters ask of themselves. this brings about true emotions from the character and reader alike, especially from one interesting point of view. Sorry won't spoil it for those who haven't read it In this book goodkind has been able to capture the true meaning what it is to be free and to have LIFE in this world. He does a great parallel i believe with occurences happening in the united states today and events in the book. Just a phenomenal read if you allow the characters to take you on there journey
Rating: Summary: Hope Review: I enjoyed this book more then any since SOT and people critism surprises me. I am only annoyed because they insist on telling each they love each consently. Still this book was fun and I enjoyed it. That is more then you can say for the last two WOT novels now that was pointless
Rating: Summary: End it Terry. Review: This series has been on a steady downward spiral since Blood of the Fold. Terry should have ended this saga a long time ago. The last four books have been monotonous political tracts, with very little excitement. The problem with Goodkind is that he has a very tenuous grasp of the English language, and he tells the reader instead of showing the reader. The first part of the book read like a synopsis of the first five books. Endless pages describing what has already happened, how the different magics work, Terry's thinly veiled political/social beliefs, which, while interesting (to a point), are not integrated into the story at all, but just laid out in endless paragraphs of dull narration. The subplot about Nicci was trite and predictable, and the ending is lame. Unfortunately, Goodkind has signed on for a seventh book in this interminable saga, so it doesn't look to be ending anytime soon. The only good things I can say about this book are that it's slightly better than the abhorrent Soul of the Fire, and it features fantastic cover art by Keith Parkinson. If you absolutely must read this book, wait for the paperback. After reading authors like Goodkind, whose prose is about as subtle as a sledgehammer, I have to re-read WRITERS like Faulkner, Toni Morrison, or Michael Ondaatje, who actually know something about the English language, in order to cleanse my palate of Goodkind's leaden writing style. Not to mention the fact that some of the grammar and word usage is downright incorrect. Hello, TOR, are there any editors in the house?
Rating: Summary: The main failing... Review: All sci-fi fans are aware of the fatal flaw that seems to dog these oh-so-promising authors. THEY NEVER GET TO THE POINT! The story seems (at some points) to meander aimlessly as though the author is merely using the novel as a sounding board for his socio-political theories. Despite the rambling style Goodkind has chosen to adopt in the Richard/Kahlan saga, I must admit that I do enjoy the stories and Faith of the Fallen is a great deal more interesting than the its dire predecessor Soul of Fire. Richard is the man many wish they were and you have to admire his immense ability for 'goodness'. Goodkind is not always convincing and there's a lot less magic (the reason for this is evident) and your not always convinced by the characters motives but then I guess if realism was my thing, I wouldn't be reading Terry Goodkind in the first place right?!
Rating: Summary: Goodkind fans rejoice!! Review: Terry has outdone himself! Wonderful character development and new look at the world give power to this newest novel by Terry. This book will definately change the way you look at the world, hopefully for the better! Once you start, you won't be able to put this book down! Good work, Terry!!
Rating: Summary: More thoughtful. More subtle. Less popular? Review: Combine Faith of the Fallen with Mr. Goodkind's last book and you have a very thoughtful maturation of the lead characters. It will be interesting to see how other readers respond to the political nature of this book. I think it will depend on whether or not people can see past their propensity to try and fit Mr. Goodkind into contemporary political molds. This may be my favorite fantasy book ever, but not for the typical reasons. I'll never swing a broad axe or cast a spell, but this book does challenge me to be a hero in how I live my own life. Truly inspiring for those who can handle real world lessons in their fantasy novels.
Rating: Summary: Mr Goodkind fulfilled his promise... An awesome read! Review: When concluding his previous installment in the Sword of Truth series (#5, Soul of the Fire), I had a bleak feeling there were a lot of loose ends that needed mending. His next book would make it all OK again, I was quite sure. Reading the reviews here at Amazon, many of you seem to have thought the same. Well he did and I thoroughly enjoyed this one, and felt being captivated as I was before in the first 4 books. It really deserves a 5 star rating. Beware to buy and read it, because it may cost you your social life, your performance at work and your night's rest for as long as you are busy reading it! Can't wait for the next one, although a year of waiting between the volume releases is very long. But I understand that Mr Goodkind needs this time to complete his creative process so as to produce such a shining example of a fantasy masterpiece as this book. PS: Nice cover art! -Harry-
Rating: Summary: Have faith in this. Review: Join in and read this friction. Faith if the fallen is definately one of those books you don't want to miss
Rating: Summary: One of his best yet Review: Goodkind you've done it again! This book measures up with wizard's first rule and Stone of Tears. It also makes up for soul of the fire, which was not that great. Goodkind is an excellant storyteller, and his talent is exhibited in Faith of the Fallen. While not as flowery as some other fantasy, it keeps you turning the pages right until the end. The fact that he could right such a great story renews my faith in him, and the rest of the fantasy author community.
