Summary: Not as good as Temple of the Winds
Review: This book started out cool with the hut in nature and everything. However, I think that Richard's part really declined after that. I really enjoyed Kahlan's battle with the Order, but when it got to Richard it got really slow. I don't think they should have put a picture of the statue on the cover! It didn't seem as magnificent as they made it out to be. I really enjoyed Temple of the Winds, and this was a good comeback after a dismal Soul of the Fire. I cannot afford book 7 in hardback so I await it in paperback.

Summary: In Light of all that's happened
Review: When I started on this quest with Richard (then Cypher)in the first book, I was taken aback by the simplicity, reality and humor with which this book treated human-kind. As the stories progressed and got more intricate, the horrors that people can inflict on one another were dealt with vividly and without softening the ugliness of truth. People will never forget what happened in our own world on Sept. 11, 2001, but the fight that Richard faces in this book is one we are all facing now in our own lives. The need for faith in the face of unspeakable evil and the necessity of dying for the cause of freedom. Maybe I have been too moved by the terrorist attacks but I found this parallel rather uncanny and it made the book all the more poignant.

Summary: Faith of the Fallen
Review: I thought the book was fast moving and extremely well done. I could not wait to get back to it. The detail work was excellent when describing color, action and emotion. I would highly recommend this book along with the rest of the series. I look forward to seeing more of Terry Goodkind's books!

Summary: its about faith..
Review: Mr. Goodkind's book is about human nature. I've read alot of the reviews and i think some of you have missed the point. He is not judgemental about particular political arrangements. He is not telling us how certin socio-economic people are made. He is not even trying to tell us that money is the root of all the worlds woes.
What he tried to relay to us is the role of faith in our selves . When he ended up penniless in the worst slum in the city, Richard knew that the people around him were no worse or better than any other people anywhere. With hard work and determination you can attain what you want. Richard became a leader to these people not because he was a "mighty wizard" or the leader of the empire but he showed them how to value their own lives.
The plot revolves around the message in this story.Which is why I can't give it 5 stars. I think that he felt so strongly about his feelings that that interfered with characters. All and all a good read ..

Summary: Ayn Rand + George Orwell + Sword of Truth = Nothing New
Review: The absolutely transparent plagerism of "Atlas Shrugged" and "1984" was so distracting that I found it hard to concentrate on the original material in this book. I've read the whole series, and to say it's getting tedious is an understatement. Every book, Richard discovers a new talent he never had before, a new form of magic, does something of legendary proportions, and gives away more of his empire.

It's getting old. Every book starts the same way, something they did in the last book didn't turn out quite right, so they now have a bigger problem than before. Ugh... and book 7 just came out...

Summary: Most enjoyable book I've come across.
Review: I have never had the desire to pick up a book twice until this one. I thought it was that good. Seems many other reviewers agree- this is the best book in the series (and best book ever, in my opinion). The story is both depressing and optimistic, but the characters tie the whole sequence of events together.

Summary: This book brought LIFE into my interest for SoT
Review: Book six of the series found me skeptical as to how much longer i could go on reading about the sword of truth. Goodkind was seemingly using the same repetitive itinerary for each book: Richard and Kahlan love each other, something bad happens, they almost lose hope, their love overcomes this bad thing, the end. Book six follows the same itinerary, but the new setting and the new characters make the book awesome. The second half is where all the action happens, and i couldn't put the book down at 2 am when i got to the last 200 pages.

In a nutshell, this book revives the series

Summary: Another good Sword of Truth story
Review: [....] as with most series of this type, I enjoyed the first 2 or 3 books the best, they've all been good, and this is no exception.

I found the beginning of FOTF to be just downright boring. The only interesting part was the background on Nicci. Once R&K were separated, things started moving. Kahlan and Richard are obviously critical to this entire series, and their individual personalites are what make them. This is especially true for Richard. I find him to be very Ender-like in his steadfastness. This shows as much, if not more, in this book than any of the others. Kahlan's internal torments also remain interesting, but I found the battles in general, plot-wise, to be the more interesting and fun portion of Kahlan's appearances in the middle of the book.
The end was predictable, as usual, but the thing I enjoy about SOT books is that there IS an end - unlike WOT books.
FOTF is another good Sword of Truth story. This series continues to be one of my favorites (although Martin's is my current #1), and I look forward to Pillars to be released in paperback in a few months.

Summary: Mr Goodkind rescued my fallen faith... (3.5 stars)
Review: I was wary of reading this novel after reading the reviews, but am glad I did.

The Good kind: I like the way the author has the main characters go through emotional extremes. Kahlan goes on a serious emotional rollercoaster and loses it for a time, but regains her senses. Richard too (though only for one page) despairs over the hopelessness of it all before he remembers that he can end it on his terms.

I was unprepared for the sheer size of the Order's army; that caught me off guard but I enjoyed it because the free world is in for a seriously rough time. My favorite parts of the book were the fight sequences with the D'Haran army changing tactics and successfully harassing (not stopping) an endless force.

Nicci became an interesting character, though I think she weakened as the story progressed.

The not-so-Good kind: Mr Goodkind tends to get a little too preachy on democracy vs. communism that I found to be repetitive and unnecessary. Make your point with clarity and then let the story continue without the constant grandstanding.

There are times, particularly towards the end, when the author repeats himself concerning character revelations and motives for actions, sometimes in the wrong order. It seemed very obvious to me that the author was trying to stretch the book to the required length.

My greatest disappointment with the entire series is the weakness and impotence of the so-called First Wizard. Zed should be the single greatest threat to the Order, or to any enemy, but he is weak and worthless. His actions do not reveal the powerful wizard who separated three kingdoms years ago. The gift does not dwindle with age, so what is the excuse?

Read the book: you'll find yourself hoping Nicci discovers the "thing" she's been looking for her entire, misled life.

Summary: not as bad as the last two, but...
Review: If you survived to reach this book, you might allready know that each book where Richard and Khalan are togather, the book is bad and when they are seperated the book is good.

The good news is that most of the book they are not togather, so it's not as bad as the fourth and fifth, The bad news thought, are that the idie of the book seems to be taken out of a fanatic anti comunist book from the cold war.

Don't belive me? don't say I didn't warn you...
