Summary: R. A. Salvatore
Review: His books rock! I started reading them just last month and already I'm hooked. I've only read Legacy of the Drow and The Icewind Dale Trilogy (I know I read out of order), and they're great! I can't wait to read The Dark Elf Trilogy, The Cleric Quintet, and the Paths of Darkness books. Anyone who's looking for a good long set of novels to read, likes fantasy, adventure, thrilling sword fights, and stories you can really get into should read R. A. Salvatore's novels.

Summary: High adventure doesn't get much better
Review: Most people know what to expect from Salvatore by the time they pick up this book, and he sure delivers! A warning to all the Drizzt fans, first of all- other than his trademark essays, our favorite Drow ranger doesn't show up in this one. This is quite forgivable, though, since we have his arch-nemesis Artemis Entreri to read about. Of course, there's a whole army of dark elves along for the ride as well. Things just can't be boring with this sort of combination. Servant is full of political intrigue and exciting confrontations that will keep you awake and reading until it's finished. It's advisable you set aside a good long block of time before starting.

Summary: Good, but not his best
Review: this was a very interesting book, to say the least. Salvatore chose to focus on Entreri and Bregan D'aerthe, instead of the ever-vigilant Drizzt Do'Urden. Don't get me wrong, Drizzt is still a great character, but there's only so much a person can hear about a character before he says "Enough!" This book was a good one, but it lacked one main thing that the others had a lot of...action! this story contained too much talking, too much thinking. Salvatore is an excellent writer, one of the best to date, but he slipped a little in this story. He strayed from the time-honored kill-'em-all plot that made him a good writer. Stick to the original plot, and you'll sell a lot. I think it's pretty cool that he chose to write about Entreri. He's a cool character, with a lot of twists and turns about his character and personality. He's almost as fun as Drizzt, but this story made him seem so base...so flat. Next time, I think that Salvatore should give Entreri some more action sequences to let everyone know that he earned the title of Drizzt's equal. Anyways, good book, keep reading. can't wait 'till Sea Of Swords comes out.

Summary: Likeable Villains?
Review: I have read many Forgotten Realms books, but this was by far the most entertaining of them all. Artemis Entreri is the most complex yet interesting character ever created. When I purchased Servant of the Shard, I sat down and finished the book in about 4-5 hours. It was mesmerizing. The rest of the world was completely shut off from me while I immeresed myself in this work of art. I just hope Mr. Salvatore continues to produce more stories that include Jarlaxle and Entreri as well as the multitudes of Dark Elves. Drizzt and his gang are fun but pale in comparison to the deliciously entangled mess that the Assasin and Dark Elf find themselves repeatedly in.
I reccomend this book to anyone that prefers great entertainment to the crap displayed at the movies! Its a wonderful read and I only hope for more from Mr. Salvatore.

Summary: Finally a FRESH concept
Review: Personally, I felt this book was an outstanding piece. I beleive that it does Salvatore good to step away from "Drizzt and Co" and focus on some of his under-developed characters. In Spine of the World, we saw Wulfgar..an annoying drunk who dragged us through 200 pages of boring and unending drinking and personal turmoil. A character who really needed no development and who probably was better off staying dead. in Servant of the Shard, we see two familiar characters who are largly underdeveloped, both of which undergoing major psychological and personal changes, and we learn lots from them. Throw in a very well written and thought out story line and the result is one of the greatest works of RA Salvatore. I would reccommend this book to anyone who loves Drizzt, it is indeed a step above the spine of the world.

Summary: Maybe narrow a little bit
Review: Maybe its just me and my way of thinking but did anyone else NOT like his demonwar series? and yet when they dont get good reviews compared to his Dark Elf books he still keeps writing them. THink of how much faster he could write our Drizzt books if he just forgot that loser series and worked on Drizzt only. Once again maybe its just me but I dont know :)

Summary: Servant of the Shard is awesome
Review: To me, this is the best and most complete work Salvatore has done. While I like the Drizzt books a lot, this book was easily better than any other to me. Jarlaxle and Entrieri are among my favorite characters throughout fantasy, and we get to see that they aren't just 2 dimensional characters, they are fully fleshed ones deserving of their own books. The whole plot of the story is interesting, and the finale was simply his best ever. I am really hoping Salvatore will come out with new books solely on these two hero-villians. I think this was a good plan of his though, to write about Drizzt campaign characters without going too much into Drizzt himself. Still, I will be buying the next Drizzt book as well, for he is still, and probably always will be one of the coolest characters ever.

Summary: R.A. Salvatore at his finest
Review: Fantasy lovers buy this now!!! Only R.A. Salvatore could create a book of such magnetism. Full of climatic battles, and evil politics, and he did this all without his most accoladed character Drizzt Do'Urden! This is my favorite book, period. Hands down, I think this is one of Salvatore's finest works. Of course I was more easily swayed, because my favorite characters are involved. This book also sheds more light on the Mysterious, cunning, and deadly Artemis Entreri (my fav!).

Summary: Drizzt never died
Review: Some people keep saying Drizzt died. He didn't. Simple. I read SIletn Blade twice. The first time I though OMG Drizzt is dead and then I read the other two. But then I read it a second time and payed more attention to the details. Drizzt got a stab thorugh the back yes, but Jaraxles lackey healed him. After the fight, when Enteri wasn't around.. Drizt comes down the stairs VOILA! His next book is all bout this wonderfully crafted and BEAUTIFUL character. I wont talk to anyone who hates Salvatore or his writings. I have read every one of his book four times and are workin on reading his demonwars which are OK.

Summary: Wow
Review: Salvatore's idea of teaming up Entreri and Jarlaxle is probably his best idea since deciding to make a Drow with a good weald. Through all the backstabbing, traps, and intrugue, the reader gets an almost Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid feeling when the protaganists interact,villians one knows one shouldn't cheer for but can't help at least cracking a smile. Kudos also for reintroducing Cadderly and the rest of the Clereic Quintet bunch and therefore giving an even more amusing foil for assassin and swashbuckler. This is quite possibly Salvatore's best writing since the Dark Elf Triology and it may even beat that. Truly an amazing book.
