Summary: The Shard Story
Review: This book is the basic battle between good and evil. Between the Shard's ability to control people to do things that will only increase its power. This is another book about the internal struggles of Salvatore's other main characters. Can they destroy the Shard or will it dominate them and destroy the world they hold so dear.

Summary: absolutely incredible!!
Review: There is no mention of drizzt in this book (despite his reflective essays). Howeveer the story which follows the trials of Jarlaxle and the actions of Bregan D'aerthe in Calimport, is really well put together, and i found myself wanting the infamous Artemis Entrerito win in his game of intrigue with the drow. We find him and Jarlaxle making an intresting and deadly team which seems to rival the antics of the Companions of the Hall.
This was an awesome book which i fully reccomend. Salvatore is a literary genius, and he ties in the tales of two of the most interesting and ambiguous villains (i'm not even sure Jarlaxle is a villain) together nicely with input from an old cleric friend. Get this book!

Summary: A masterful recovery(if you didn't like book 2)
Review: Just an amazing book. I know some people complained about Drizzt not really being in it, but for once I did not mind. It was nothing like that total tangent Salvatore took with Wulfgar in Spine of the World. We're dealing with two Artemis Entreri and Jarlaxle, both of whom I have enjoyed since their introduction early in the series. Although we know a little about each from earlier works we have never see them so fully developed and in the spotlight as in this book. And yes, the ending is incredible. There's no way you can read it and not be dying to know what will happen next...better go buy "Sea of Swords" while you're at it.

Summary: I LOVED this book.
Review: This book was so much fun to read. It is definitely my favorite, next to The Dark Elf trilogy. No, Drizzt is not in it. When I first realized that, I was afraid that I would be disappointed. That was not the case at all. I was never a fan of the "bad guys", but Jarlaxle and Artemis are so expertly written about in this book, that you can't help but enjoy their partnership.
The dialogue between the characters is very witty. There are numerous times I go back to the book to re-read certain scenes. The surface is only scratched at letting you get to know what drives these characters and this book will only leave you wanting to know more. At the end of the book, there is also a very big bombshell dropped regarding Jarlaxle, that will leave you wondering even more about his character.
This book is a MUST read in this series. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Summary: Not as good as the Drizzt novels
Review: A good book, but I was disappointed there wasn't much about Drizzt.

Summary: Servant of the Shard
Review: I have been an avid fan of RA Salvatore's material since I picked up an aged copy of the "The Crystal Shard". The "Servant of the Shard" fuses together the interweaving storyline of the Crystal Shard and Drizzt. This book reaches the highest levels of authorship and kept on going. Unceasingly quality fantasy writing on every page. I enjoyed the closer examination of the characters of Artemis and Jaraxle. My one complaint about Salvatore's work till this point had been his failure to delve into the emerging tapestry which the villans and Bregan D'Aerth provide. All that was washed away with this one book!

Summary: The Odd Couple - Artemis and Jarlaxel!
Review: Though this book doesn't directly involve Drizzt Do'Urden, it does involve two key nemesis of his, Jarlaxel and Artemis Entreri as a unique duo. The characters are given great depth to the degree that you gain a sympathy/empathy and understanding for the "evil" characters, thus once again R.A. Salvatore does an excellent job of blurring the lines and making the reader understand character motivation and question, what indeed is evil?

And once again R.A. Salvatore demonstrates his mastery of continuity in his books, reintroducing characters from the Cleric Quintet. Though it's technically part of a series and I recommend reading the other books first, starting with the Cleric Quintet and then the Dark Elf books, this book is well written enough to stand on it's own and is sure to addict anyone reading it to the Forgotten Realms books by R.A. Salvatore.

Summary: No Drizzt, but one very excellent book.
Review: After being sorely dissapointed with "The Spine of the World" book I was egar to read this book.

I was far from dissapointed with this book.

There are no good guys, no heros. Its a battle of evil vs. evil. And that is what makes this book one of Salvatore's best.

We learn alot about Artemis, but more importantly we learn alot about the drow: Jarlaxle. The drow with an ace up every sleave, and more ways to kill a person than you can count.

This story is about the drow band: Bregan D'aerthe, and their attempt at breaking into the surface world. Not to conquer, but for more profitable ventures.

When you mix in the Crenshinibon (the crystal shard), everything goes wrong.

I highly suggest reading this book. We learn alot about Artemis (not really his origin, but more along the lines of his persona), Jarlaxle, and even Morik the Rogue makes an appearance or two!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: No Drizzt but thats okay!
Review: Well when I bought this book I believed I was cluelessly diving into another great Drizzt novel. Well in a way I was, this book doesn't have the famed Dark Elf Ranger in it, other then his remarks between books.

This book is about his mysterious nemesis Entreri and Jarlaxle. The book highlites two colorful characters as protaganist, but never to far removed from their roots of assasin and rogue.

You also get to be delighted by the appearences of other Salvatore characters, that assist Entreri and Jarlaxle in their quest. As a fantasy book this novel has it all, I highly recomend this book to the casual reader and definately to the hardcore Forgotten Realms fans.
