Rating: Summary: !!!!!!FANFREAKINTASTIC!!!!! Review: I am a HUGE fan of the 'Sword of Truth' series, and originally I was disappointed in 'Blood of the Fold' but after reading 'Temple of the Winds' and then Re-Reading the entire series over again in anticipation of book 5, I now believe that the only weak book in the series is 'Soul of the Fire'. This book has an amazing pacing which keeps the reader totally enthralled in anticipation of what will happen next. You also hear a great bit of prophecy...but you have NO idea what to make of it mostly because Richard has shown that prophecy is mostly mis-leading and won't always come to pass the way you expect. So you get an idea of what will happen, however you won't now HOW it will happen. My compliments to Mr. Goodkind for writing a GREAT story that maintains the 'feel' of the series. I'm not sure if 'Wizard's First Rule' can or will be surpassed, but I have high hopes that it someday WILL happen. I have heard that Goodkind is planning on a totally different series of novels, and I for one can't wait to see his vision in another universe, although I'll miss Richard & Kahlan when it happens. 'Temple of the Winds' is a great story written by a fantastic author, who is only getting better.
Rating: Summary: A interesting stop between book 3 and book 5... Review: This was not one of my favorite books in the series. There were some enjoyable moments when the reader had an opportunity to learn more about the characters. I was pleased that the main characters actually got to spend some time together building their relationship instead of running all over the country dreaming of each other. I was annoyed with the concept that the main characters are so uncertain about where they stand with each other and their love for each other. It was hard for me to believe that they have so little faith in each other. I thought the author touched on an interesting idea with the temple itself and hope he expands on it in future stories. I really enjoy the world Mr. Goodkind has created and (usually) feel that his characters are realistic which allows you to care about the people he creates. I would recommend the book because it is a 'bridge' between the third book and the fifth book, (both of which are excellent!) and because the ending is wonderfully exciting as he sets you up for the next book in the series.
Rating: Summary: More enthralling that Europe? Review: I am a big fan of the Sword of Truth series. I have read Wizard's First Rule a few of times and slowly got through Stone of Tears and Blood of the Fold. I must admit that those two were a bit slow but the story and the characters kept me faithful. I bought Temple of the Winds and Soul of the Fire to read on the plane to and from Germany car trip from Germany to Florence this summer. By the time I got towards the end of Temple of the Winds I couldn't leave the house! Everyone else would go sightseeing and I insisted on staying in and reading. I sat around for almost an entire day stopping only to eat trying to finnish that book. And keep in mind I don't read a lot. I was so captured by what happened to Kahlen and Richard that I couldn't put the book down. I was still in awe even after I finnished it. I cannot compare this one with the first one but it has to have been one of the absolute best books I have ever read. I havn't gotten far into Soul of the Fire for lack of time but I hope I find time soon.
Rating: Summary: Great ! No better, Excellent ! Review: I couldn't wait to get this book, and as quick as I got it I read it twice as fast. I love the characters and following there heart warming, tragic, comical, romantic and much much more stories. I can only hope the series never ends, for what could compare to Richard, Kahlan and Zedd! ( and so many more loveable and hateable characters) I can't say which book I like the most, I love them all. This story takes a new twist, the black Plague. This time Richard and Kahlan, together, have to find a way to stop the murderous plague that starts with children and moves its way all the way to the town prostitute. Jagang wants to rule the world and doesn't care how he achieves this goal. The new characters brought new to this book add great twitsts for example: Richards brother Drefan of the Roug Moss the healer and Nadien from his old land. The Witch Woman, Shota, once again plays her devious part and does a great job! I couldn't love and hate any other witch as her. Zedd wow who wouldn't love Zedd! Zedd and Ann Find themselves in a lot of trouble in the wilds, they made me laugh so hard, but it was a great balance with the tragic plague that was running over the land. This book was great, I wouldn't recommend this book for the younger reader, because there is explicit sex and violence. But the sex and the violence made the book all the better, I couldn't fathom the books with out it! I have read that some think that our imaginations should be let to do that on there own well I can say that my imagination works over time reading Gookinds books, if you can't handle the explicit parts page over them but don't miss out on great reading because of that one reason ! My opinion, Buy this book, Read this book, and enjoy the story!
Rating: Summary: Very Good! Review: This book is excellent and is a great improvement over the previous novel. It was an excellent read and is definitely worth having.
Rating: Summary: Stop whining...... Review: This is another great book in the series. Although not as great as Stone of Tears, but definitely a great addition to the series. As with the previous books the twists in the plot are unpredictable and very interesting. I have stayed up for hours reading these books, and were well worth the loss in sleep...
Rating: Summary: For a long series, this book isn't too bad. Review: Firstly, why do many m modern fantasy authors want to write long rambling series with long rmbling boks? Whatever happened to nice short books suh as Nine Princes in Amber etc? With that out of the way, let me say that for a series of this lenth, it's not bad. The sex didn't bother me, being an open minded person. What does bother me is the repitition of ideas? Are we so dull whitted that consepts need restating a hundred times? For a casual read, this bok isn't too bad, no deep thoughts, but one shouldn't use that as a guide to all literature. The plot is somewhat weka, and bad things really never happen to them. Richard and his belived never have to sleep with another, and his reactions are a bit too dramatic. I would like to say in defence of this series that it's not as bad as TWOT! The women in this series at least don't all hate men, snort, and do the female versis male thing.
Rating: Summary: Just when you were getting comfy Review: Okay! Mr. Goodkind had me convinced that his plots were going to get fairly predictable, but he had also convinced me to keep reading by making his characters so vivid and keeping the plots well paced and wonderfully set. However, with this book, I was surprised with the things that Goodkind included, and the plot is the best yet since the first one in the series! The rest of Goodkind's wonderful storytelling talent is also on display in this book also. However, one does wish that the sex was a great deal less and that he used his wonderful talent to allude and etc. I won't but these books, but I will borrow them from a library! At least you can skim the graphically narrated sex scenes and get on with the story without any problem. Truly, Nadine and Drefan were a nice twist in this tale. One also wishes that Richard and Kahlan could just trust each other more, but at least Goodkind makes the feelings of betrayal well motivated. Anyway, this one is well worth the night of sleep you will lose. Read it.
Rating: Summary: A book that will stay with me... Review: It is a very rare writer that actually pulls tears from my eyes the way that Terry Goodkind does with each new installment to his Sword of Truth series. I have never actually thrown a book across the room, but when faced with the perils of such loved characters I found that I was unable to bear them at times and there was a great flutter of pages. I think that future readers with less heart could not do else but add to the tears that I shead upon the page(and can you believe that I actually screamed at Richard when he was so sure that he had been betrayed by his love?). This installment also brought about my admiration for the Mord Sith, they turned from being feared enemys into the adored characters that I cryed for in their times of suffering.I can without a doubt say that Goodkind is one of my favorite writers ( that includes Mercedes Lackey and Elizabeth Haydon- at least in the Fantasy field) and I hope that his writings live on, both in the Sword of Truth series and beyond.
