Summary: A worthy part of the series but some flaws.
Review: While I enjoyed the other books in the series I was disappointed with this one. Goodkind fans will find much to like, as I did, but this book by itself will win few converts to his work. I found the dramtization of the relationship between Richard and Kahlan to be tiresome. It seems like the first 100 pages was a discussion of who loved Richard and why. Furthermore Zedd, a great persona, seems to have a much smaller presence in this work then the others- it takes Goodkind over 100 pages just to get to him. I greatly appreciate the characters and the places- but found the plot dull and slow to start. The book didn't seem to know if it would be a romance, a mystery or fantasy and it ends up not being a satisfying bit of either. In repsonse to the thread on Goodkinds treament of women and women characters- I do applaud Goodkind's strong female characters and how violence towards and control of, women are both a seminal apsect of warfare. We need look no further then Bosnia as one recent example to see this. It also gives his work a much more realistic feeling. Warfare in fantasy often tends to be almost abstract- as an apocalyptic meeting of the forces of dark and light. The violence towards women takes the romance out of the big battles and makes the possibility of a lost battle all the more horrifying. In short the books continues on with the same great characters and compelling places like Wizards Keep. But the slow developing plot, overall lack of action and diversion away from some of the more interesting characters like Zedd are disapointing.

Summary: Read it in 2 days!
Review: I am the previous "reader from PA." I finally got the book about a week ago and flew through it. Goodkind once again lived up to expectations. And to those of you who thought there was "too much sex", you must be way to young to be reading these books. A place for everything and everything in its place. Oh, and for the person who was wondering why Zedd hasn't taught Richard about his magic yet, Richard has a side to magic that Zedd can only begin to understand. Richard needs to learn on his own like he HAS been doing because his magic is all based on instinct, spur of the moment. He doesn't need to "Learn" the spells he uses, he just does it. I just want to know how Goodkind is going to get around Kahlan and Richard not having children, because if magic is dying out and Kahlan is the last Confessor, what are they going to do??? I'll bet there is a scroll or a book hidden somewhere that will show they are destined to have this child and they'll have to kill Shota!

Summary: It Rocks.
Review: This is a rockin' piece of fiction. It just needs to be longer, that's all.

Summary: By far the best yet!!!
Review: I just finished reading Temple of the Winds.....and have just read through some of the other reviews. Anyone who didn't like this book or any other of Goodkinds isn't really a true fantasy fan. And what would you consider great? Robert Jordan? The wheel of time was by far the best when they first came out. But have gotten really drabby of late. Publishing pressures? I have never felt so close to the characters as in Goodkinds books. And how could any man truely not love Mord-Sith? A perfect 10 for Temple of the Winds. Can't wait for the next.

Summary: One of the best in his series
Review: When is Zedd going to teach Richard about using the gift. I have waited since the series first came out for this to happen. The series is starting to get a little repetitive. Richard and Kahlan have to go throught tests to be together once again, this is what, the third book where it does this. I really liked the part about Richard having a brother once again, then he ends up betraying him in the end. That is now twice that this happened. I guessed that Richards brother would betray him, because the he came when the Temple of the Winds started to warn Richard that it has been violated. When Richard told the reader what Raug Moss means in high D'Hara I guess what the profecy meant. I found even though the amount of betrayals to Richard a little too much, I enjoyed this book immensely. I really enjoy the part the Mord-Sith play in the book. It was a little depressing that Raina died, and a little to far fetched that one of them now has a some subtractive magic in them. I wonder what part in the next book she will play. I wonder what the next book will hold for Richard and Kahlan? What was Zedd and Ann talking about at the end of the book about the three chimes. Once again I look forward to reading this next of his books, just I hope it comes soon. If you have any idea or insight on what will happen in the next Terry Goodkind book, please send me a hotmail, at the address shown.

Summary: Temple of the Winds
Review: All I can say to those of you who opposed to this book is this: Fantasy is reality set on another plane of existance. Get over yourselves. If you think it was that bad,YOU write a bestselling book. I haven't had the pleasure of reading this masterpiece yet, but I've been waiting anxiously for a long time and I can't wait.

Summary: TEMPLE OF THE WINDS ,ANOTHER 10 FOR TERRY
Review: ONCE AGAIN TERRY GOODKIND TOTALLY ASTONDED ME WITH HIS TRULY MAGNIFACENT WRITING TECHNIQUES. THE MAN IS TRULLY ONE OF A KIND. THE ONLY WRITER I WOULD COMPARE HIM TO IS TERRY BROOKS. THEY ARE ON ABOUT THE SAME LEVEL, THEY ARE THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS. A TEN DOES NOT DO TERRY GOODKIND JUSTICE SO I GIVE HIM AN ELEVIN. IF YOU HAVENT READ THIS BOOK YET I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU BECOUSE YOU ARE MISSING OUT. TEMPLE OF THE WINDS CARRIES ON THE TRADITION OF TERRY'S TRULLY MAGNIFISENT SERIES THE SWORD OF TRUTH.

Summary: emotionally gripping characters
Review: I have enjoyed Goodkind's other books in the Sword of Truth Series, but I loved Temple of the Winds. The irony is that at one point I was so mad at the way the story was progressing I could have literally thrown the book down and written my own ending, but I wanted to know what actually happened. Goodkind's characters are so real and vividly described that I truly cared what happened to them. I don't remember the last time I felt that way about a book I was reading. Goodkind is also excellent at showing how good or evil his characters are, not just telling. He shows how evil the villians are, but there deeds and how much they enjoy their twisted acts. I highly recommend this book, even if you have not read the previous three books in this series.

Summary: Same old thing
Review: Well once again I told myself that the next book of Goodkind's would capture the magic of his forst book. Once again I was wrong. In yet another installment of Richard and Kahlan getting torn apart and then reunited against all odds, Goodkind thrashes what has become a rather dead horse. In achieving this glorious finale for our protagonists, Goodkind also explores some rather disturbing aspects of fantasy that should be left between him and his therapist. Either that or hs has been indulging in the game of shock-tactics. And that too I find disturbing. It seems that graphic sexual content is how Goodkind makes up for his lack of plot or characterization. Pain and pleasure seem to be the common theme involved in all of the books in this series but in this last one I feel he has gone too far. My advice? At least wait till it comes out in ppbk or go to your local library. Even with the great prices at this place it is not worth it!

Summary: Whew!! I gave 3 weeks of my life to Terry Goodkind
Review: Well, I read all of the very mixed (at times) reader reviews and bought all 4 books in the series anyway. I was EXTREMELY happy I did because I could then read them all as one wonderfully long and smoothly flowing tale. I found each book very entertaining, well thought out, addictive and well written. Violent, yes... stomach turning at times, yes.. Romantic and tender? Oh, yes!! Impossible to put down?? I have carpal tunnel syndrome from carrying around those big books!! .. and most importantly .... I came to care deeply about the characters, a mark of a truly great book, at least to me. Ignore the nasty reviews, the series is well worth your time, AND I hear there is a fifth book in the works.... Hallelujah!! Btw, I am 46 years old, most definitely not a teenager, but a little in love with Richard, just the same. Nicole R.
