Summary: The best one yet
Review: Terry Goodkind is becoming an amazing writer. While his books may have gone down in size they went up in quality and plot line. I can't wait for his next book in the series (if there is one) because he left a perfect cliff hanger in Temple of the Winds. Here is a little ego bost for you Terry (if you happen to read this): I frequent yahoo chat (almost 3 times a day) and I came across a call name you would like, R.Rahl and yes it stood for your character Richard. I love your books.

Summary: This book bites
Review: Call me sick (and many have), but I don't mind the sex or violence. What I do mind is authors adding unnecissary filler to stories. I loved the first book. It was a full, wonderful novel. The rest of them (2-4) are short stories filled with extra dialogue. Many of the chapters are elongated with redundancy simply becuase this writer thinks he needs to write a 500 page novel.

And who else but me could give a hoot about Richard and Kahlan? Okay the love each other. That was established in the first novel. Now, it's just plain sappy. Each would give their lives for the other. (How many times was that crud said?) Their whole love affair with each other is just corny beyond belief. If I wanted this kind of dung I would have read a Hallmark card. I will not be buying any further installments of this series

Summary: great series, wanders a bit
Review: This is a great series. It wanders around a bit, but it is always interesting. I hope that Richard finally finds one of his relatives from the Rahl side that isn't psychotic.

ps. Whats all this talk about the violence and sex? You act like he's Anne Rice.

Summary: Start reading and you will catch the plague...
Review: "Wizard's First Rule" & "Stone of Tears" are my favorite books. The reason why I chose these two adds up to one, "Magic." I lost the sense of magic in the last two books, "Blood of the Fold" and "Temple of the Winds". The fourth book is very well written, due to many emotional factors of the story. I realized that balance is important in a story, and without it can lead to disaster.

Mr. Goodkind, I am a big fan your books and intriguing style of writing! I will be looking forward to your next volume of SOT.

Summary: My favorite of the four out so far
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I thought that this was easily the best of the four with the exception of the first book. I found Goodkind when Wizard's First Rule was only out in Audio Cassettes, and when I found that it came out in paperback, I was skeptical. Boy am I glad I decided to pick up that book! Since then I've given the first book as gifts for X-Mas to four different people, all of whom have *loved* it. Winds was full of action and excitement, and yes, some violence and blood. I have read much worse and I thought it fit in with the story. It was not thrown in for the mere sake of having sex in the story. I had goosebumps from the way I imagined Richard to look just before he entered the Temple. I was impressed Mr. Goodkind. One huge THANK YOU from this satisfied reader. :)

Summary: A helpful hint!!
Review: If you gave this book less than a 6 you have got to be one of the most sinicle readers I have ever had the displeasure of hearing or reading about. this was a great way to take the series. I will admit that the marraige should have happend last book and the price for entrance was a little strange. other than that this book was a great achievement. I rank it second in the series with SoT as first.

Summary: Hey Mr. Goodkind!
Review: Although I am Impressed that you are willing to defend your book, you must realize that your book is now public property - open for all kinds of scrutiny. You should be happy that so many people are taking the time to write a review of your book. Good or bad, it proves that you have made an impact. (If you hadn't noticed, very few authors have as many "write-ins" as you do.)

I know you are an artist, and artists have a good deal of passion for their work, but a book is not like a painting. A book is the opposite of a painting: a painting conveys words through an image, and a book conveys images through words. Only a few people can truly appreciate and comprehend the message of a painting, and the rest of us tend to sit back and let them make the call (judgement). Books, however, give us all a chance to make a judgement - justified or not. We just read the words and "think" we know what we are talking about. So, don't be too upset. We're not educated literary critics. We just have the ability to read.

I gave this book an 8 in an earlier review, and [from my point-of view] I think it deserves an 8. I thought S.o.T. was a 9 - perhaps it was my mood at the time. For a person who only recently started writing, you should be proud and amazed by your own abilities. I am.

Rude comments: yes, I made a very rude comment ("must have been beaten as a child") and I appologize. I was just trying to emphasize the fact that you, as a science fiction/fantasy writer, have a very interesting perspective that is usually reserved for "different" categories of writing. I like your perspective. I feel it gives a cutting energy to an otherwise standard medium. Most fantasy writers (that I have read) tend to avoid the "nitty-gritty" aspects during creation - which makes their creations less "real". You are not afraid to include any details in your novels. Keep up the good work.

As far writing my own book - I would love to, but I'm stil! l working on my spelling.

Summary: It's enjoyable, brainless fun.
Review: I think that Terry Goodkind is, at heart, a great storyteller. But there are just two things holding him back: One, he really over doses on violent, masochistic sex. Even in the first book, there was, what? 100 pages with Richard being tortured by a leather clad dominatrix? I can't really imagine someone calling that great fiction. I know that many of you believe that this is necessary to develop the characters, but I am positive there can be another way to do this without having a woman raped by a monster (see the second book). The second thing that holds him back are his all too familiar idea's. Now, I'm not sure that he's ripping off Robert Jordan (children of the light- group of magic hating zealots, Blood of the fold- group of magic hating zealots. Aes Sedai- Group of magic using woman, Sisters of the light- group of magic using woman), but wether or not they are stolen, Goodkind should still try to get some other new original ideas (He tried with the last book, but even Jagang the dream walker/whatever is just the same thing as Jordan's Tel'aranrhiod.) Now, despite these flaws, Goodkind is able to create an atmosphere of excitement and adventure that is quite fun. But IMHO, he will never be able to join the ranks of Tolkein, Jordan, and Feist if he stays as he is now.
