Summary: Skip it...
Review: I was vey disappointed when I finally received the audio cassette. The story itself was entertaining however the actual recording was awful.I don't know who came up with the brilliant idea to use the single speaker story play but they obviously didn't consider the common walk man user. Most stereo headphones don't come with a balance knob!I would tell you to read the book instead and avoid the audio cassette altogether.

Summary: A big improvement
Review: Well, a good friend of mine got me reading Terry Goodkind, and I was impressed. I don't think that his characters match up with those of Robert Jordan, (my personal favorite,) I do enjoy Terry Goodkind. He is, I'll admit, a more action packed author than Jordan, but his series is way less developed. It is safe to say that his writing provokes many more emotions in me than Jordan. In this book, he out does himself. I enjoyed "Widard's First Rule" but thought that "Stone of Tears" should be renamed "The nearly fatal perils of Kahlan Amnell." I didn't care much for Blood of the Fold either. This story is pretty ordinary and mundane, up until about fifty pages from the end. At that point it gets EXETREMELY depressing & sad. I went to bed just after reading that part, and I couldn't sleep a wink. And because of that the happy ending is that much more effective. I simply could not put this book down. It is a must read. Basicly, Jordan is master of some things, Goodkind of others. I just prefer Jordan's.

Summary: Another amazingly wonderful tale of honor, virtue and magic
Review: In Temple of the Winds, one can find the solace of a gentle breeze and the rage of a hurricane. Mr. Goodkind has woven another wonderful installment in The Sword of Truth series. Mr. Goodkind toys with the imagination and molds an exciting tail full of intrigue, and contrast. A must read for all who like fantasy. Awesome!!

Summary: Excellent... How long can the story continue
Review: I really enjoyed this book as well as all the books in the seires. I enjoy the paralle plot lines which remind me alot of Terry Brooks and think Goodkind handles them a little better.... For those who have written negitive comments...I would say all the good writers follow a similar outline for each book in their seires... That's why we wait impatiantly for the next installment. Goodkind didn't disapoint me and if he reads this hope he gets the next book out soon.

Summary: Goodkind does it again!
Review: He did it! Terry Goodkind beat Robert Jordan!

Of the two major fantasy epics with new installments in '98, Goodkind's Temple of the Winds was far better than Jordan's Path of Daggers.

The reason: this one had a plot.

While ever developing his fanastic characters, Goodkind continues to make each book better than its predecessor. His best aspect is the intelligence of his main hero, who overcomes the toughest adversity in the cleverest way possible.

Which is why I'm voting for Goodkind as this era's fantasy master. Where do I sign?

Summary: Master, period
Review: First, let's just say this: to those of you who claim or like to imply that Goodkind has ripped off Jordan, here is a little education for you; Jordan's books have no original ideas. Rather than tell you, I will let you scrounge through the Fantasy books on the shelves of libraries. Jordan has nothing new, I have read his plots many times over the years, long before he was born.

Now, that aside, let's talk about Goodking. This man can be called a Master Storyteller. At points there are minor critisisms on all 4 books, but TOTW is an excellent close to the first part of the SOT series. This book is excellent, Goodkind has placed himself among the Masters of the genre.

Summary: a very good book
Review: This is a very good book. I've only read one of his books, but the writing is of very high quality. Even as the fourth book in a series, this book can stand on its own, the others are not required to read this one. This book also shows amazing description, imagination and full characters. As you read it, you want the villains to die and the heroes win. A very good book with many, many levels. Few other fantasy novels are found of this quality.

Summary: This book is a must have for any Fantasy reader.
Review: You can pick this book up and read it and not be lost in the series. But, I would strongly suggest you start at the first book, so you get the full effect of what the main character, Richard and his allies go through to save their world from being consumed from the Underworld. You can literally watch the characters grow and change with the passing of each page. No wading through pages of boring detail. Action-packed from the first page. He also does an excellent job of incorporating the details while the plot moves. The other great thing about this series is that one book starts that same day, or within a 24 hour period.(No 20 years later, type thing. I could go on about how great these books are, but I think you get the idea. So, READ THEM! :-)

Summary: Awesome Writer, Good Book
Review: The first time I picked up "Wizard's First Rule" I couldn't believe that fantasy could get that good. Goodkind managed to put the world of sword and sorcery in a new light that I doubted anyone else could match his talent. The second and third books were great too. The plots and intrigue in his books are amazing. So why 3 stars for book 4 u might ask? Well, the truth is, the love theme between Richard and Kahlan is getting slightly redundant. I mean, everything else was great: Zedd and Ann's predicament was hilarious; Goodkind portrayed the charcaters of Nadine and Defran as real characters (admit it, there are people like Nadine and Defran out there); the idea of a "bound fork prophecy"; Nathan (we finally got some development here); I mean, this list could go on forever. BUT most of us already knows just how deeply Richard and Kahlan feel for each other. That's been proven over and over again in "Stone of Tears" and "Blood of the Fold". The theme is just getting way too cliche and there are still some other points that I would love Goodkind to cover. Like, when will Richard learn how to use his talent instead of just hacking his way through with that sword of his? What about Gratch, Scarlet, Chase, and Rachael? Especially Rachael (remember? Zedd gave specific instructions to Chase to make her strong). Alright now, I'm rambling and I don't want to bore any of you with these speculations. To cut all this long winded stuff, if Goodkind brought the love theme between Richard and Kahlan just one level down (just a tiny notch) I would've wholeheartedly give "Temple of the Winds" *****.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Glorious and gripping, a real "thriller."
Review: I never read Fantasy untill I read Terry Goodkind's "Wizard's First Rule," the first in the Sword of Truth series. All of Goodkind's books are entirely real, with characters that you can relate to, and graphic, detailed writing. Goodkind manages to sweep you from your real world into the world of wizardry, deceit, and unimaginable power. A "can't put down" book. This one beats them all.
