Rating: Summary: Caleb Boulware's summary of the Indwelling Review: This is definately one of the hottest-selling Christian books on the market. It has suspense, action, and a flowing plot. In this story, Potentate Nicolae Carpathia is alledgedly shot by a Christian who is a Tribulation Force member named Rayford Steele. Steele is forced to run from Jerusalem or risk being killed by the GC(Global Community). The Global Community soon discovers that the cause of their leader's death was due to a member in their own organization. To cover it up, they continue to blame Steele for the incident. If things were not bad enough for the Trib Force, it appears that the GC has locked onto the location of their headquarters. The Trib Force must flee and find a new shelter or risk being found and killed by the GC. The funeral for Carpathia is to take place three days after his death in New Babylon. A glass coffin and statue are to be built for the "greatest man who ever lived". Millions of people flock to see the ceremony of Carpathia's death. The funeral starts out "normal". Carpathia's assistant, Leon Fortunato, gives a speech for his fallen boss/friend and shows a tape of Carpathia's life. However, Leon then uses some sort of power to force the audience to bow down to the Carpathia statue. Fortunato summons fire out of his hands and lightning bolts come out of the sky to strike down those who try to leave. Soon, life stirs in Nicolae's body and he rises from the coffin. Carpathia(aka the anti-christ) is now indwelt by Satan himself.
Rating: Summary: A Great Continuation Review: The Indwelling is a great continuation. It picks up immediately where Assassians left off. As the murder investigation takes off, no one really knows who .... As the Trib Force members all try to return home, the search for Hattie continues. Tsion starts to do some "crazy," but interesting dreaming. The safe house doesn't seem so safe anymore. .... This book takes you through a period of 3 days and doesn't leave much anticipation for book #8, ....
Rating: Summary: Still Can Not Get Enough Review: While The Indwelling was not the very best book in the Left Behind series, it continues to keep my interest from the beginning to the end. I think this book took me all of 2 days to read. I just could not put it down. Of course, just wait until you get to book 8 - The Mark. My biggest challenge now is slowing down so that I don't have so long to wait until they release book 9!!
Rating: Summary: Outstanding! Review: I have read all of the books in this series, and i think that they are all great. They are well written. If i had to pick one of these i don't think i could. I am now reading book #8-The Mark, and i can't wait until i can read book #9!
Rating: Summary: Okay Review: This book wasn't the best in the series. Most of the time you're waiting for Carpathia to be resurrected. But if you want to know what happens in the next book ya gotta read this one. Don't get me wrong, it's a good book. But when such a series is so highly acclaimed, you expect excellent.
Rating: Summary: Bending, breaking,... Scripture by Dispensationalists Review: I would rated this a no-star but ya can't do that! This book(and all the books in the series) is based on the 'last days' madnessinfecting the large majority of the Christian churches in UnitedStates. Dispensationalism is what this book series is putting forth(in fiction form) and this belief system has largely been discreditedbiblically. .... The major seminaries don't teach it anymore becauseit cannot be defended in a biblical and scholarly matter. If youwant to learn some truth about God and the last days (or end-times),you won't find it here. If you just want some exciting FICTION, thisbook (and the series) will provide in double heapings (oh, theirony!).
Rating: Summary: Not their best Review: This is an up-and-down series. This book was mostly down. I hope the next is up.
Rating: Summary: Not literature Review: I've been trying to keep up with this series, but I must admit, it's been a struggle. The more I read, the worse the plot and writing. I'm not sure which has the hardest endurance test, the writers or the readers.
Rating: Summary: A great Christian Read Review: After having read all 8 of the left behind series books over the last 3 weeks I can only say with a short word, WOW! I have read some people reviews criticizing the books for being to bland and written for a young audience. Most of what is written in these books comes from a book that is often referred to as bland and not very exciting, this book is affectionately known as the Bible. Do I have problems with these books I would have to say yes, consider if you would the cost of jet aircraft and jet fuel for said aircraft would be astronomical. Planes somehow being able to fly great distances (Israel to Illinois is over 5000 nm) without refueling stops add to the disillusion of the story. But this is why this work is referred to as fiction and not non-fiction, if it were based on more factual data the story would have more realism yes but it would be no less entertaining. There are portions of the books that do seem to drag along but for the most part books keep a good pacing and a wanting from the reader. I read from other readers that there is no cussing and other sins committed by these new believers, for this I can only state that sometimes people can radically change with God in their lives and perhaps that is something that these writers are attempting to convey with their writings. One thing that does bother me is the fact that the writers have now decided that 1 book a year will be all the put out for the series, is there a guarantee that there will only be another 4 books in this series? After all the first 42 months of the tribulation consumed 7 books and anyone who has read revelations will tell you that the next 42 months of what will be known as the Great Tribulation will be twice as intense as could every be imagined in the first 42 months. So is it possible that without an increase in the size and material explored in these next books that the series could become 15 or more books? If that is the case the rapture may occur before this series is every completed. I personally think some people are taking these books to replace the bible, instead of what these books are intended to be. And for those who still consider these books so poorly written let me point to you two of the most poorly penned books I have ever had the misfortune of reading. The author of these two books is Dr. Robert Davis, they are titled; The Plutonium Murders and the Doomsday Kiss. You may follow this link to The Plutonium Murders: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1890248002/qid=982641815/sr=1-2/ref=sc_b_2/107-4919486-4567762 You may follow this link to The Doomsday Kiss: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1890248029/qid=982641674/sr=1-1/ref=sc_b_1/107-4919486-4567762 Do I think the likes of Stephen King, Tom Clancy, John Grisham or others I will not list here have something to be frightened of by these authors the answer I am ashamed to say would be no. The vast majority of people in the world will never know these books as great writing or entertainment. I give the books a 5 star rating although in actuality I would say for character and plot development it would receive a 1 Star, for writing quality a 2 Star, for a reasonable plot and research a 2 Star (this being generous) but for overall being something I would recommend to others for the pure entertainment of everything I give the books my full recommendations.
Rating: Summary: I believe this overtakes the others as the best book so far. Review: I quickly read this book overnight and handed it down to the next person in line to read it in my family. Unlike some of the other books in this series, The Indwelling was fast-paced and down-paced every time the flow of the story required it to be. LaHaye and Jenkins have published yet another winner in the Left Behind series. I can't wait to start "The Mark" later tonight.
