Rating: Summary: Very Dissapointing Review: The whole book could be condensed into a 20 page booklet if you took out all the extra line spacing and chapter spacing, etc. They (the authors) need to start giving the readers more per book. I was so dissapointed I will not continue to follow the series. From a christian context point of view, there was less prayer and less Scriptures quotes. Book was full of sensationalism and marketing ploys.
Rating: Summary: Another action-packed installment Review: I just finished this book today(started it last night), and if you are following this series, I guarantee you'll have a hard time putting this one down. There are enough twists and turns about who will survive, who will convert, and who will betray the Trib Force to keep you reading "just one more page." An earlier reviewer mentioned that some of Fortunato's comments about the one world religion were meant by the authors as a jab at Catholics. When I read that passage, I see it as a condemnation of secular humanism.
Rating: Summary: Keep it in focus Review: After reading many of the reviews and all 7 of the Left Behind books, I want share my views. First, if you haven't read the series, start now. It will change your life. The books are based on the book of Revelation and will at the least, make you think. Secondly, while the Indwelling only covered a short period of time, if you only read the last 3 chapters, you would have missed a lot of character development. We see a new side of Chloe, Rayford and Chaim. It is valuable to read the books thoroughly simply for your understanding of the complexities that will face those who are left behind. Finally, I'd like to say that those who wait for the books to come out have a higher expectation and as such may be disappointed with what ever may come out. Those who read all the books in one long session we see how the series builds on the situation from previous books. And won't be disappointed at all. Overall, the books are, in my opinion, wonderful. They are scripture based, exciting, and thought provoking. You can't read them without asking the questions, "What if I was left behind?" "Is it worth the risk?" Read the books, and find out for yourself.
Rating: Summary: Very disapointing. Review: After waiting for such a long time, I was expecting much more from this book. Very little happens, and the "indwelling" occurs at the end of the book. You could easily skip this book and miss nothing in the story line. Looks like Lahaye and Jenkins are more concerned with profits than with writing a quality book.
Rating: Summary: Be Steadfast In Your Faith Review: This book, although only covering a short period of time, was very good. I read the book in about 2 1/2 days. The events leading up to the indwelling of Satan were pretty predictable. The better part of the book was related to the spiritual battles faced by the characters. Rayford had to deal with his pride, something everyone has had to do. Chaim feeling his reason for coming to God was not proper, which believers and non-beleivers face. Tsion being a witness to the battle in heaven. Chloe and Leah have to deal with Godly love and forgiveness. And, Buck remembering to have faith in God. Each of the characters had to deal with a spiritual issue that we, as Christians have to face in our daily lives. The author's came from a different angle this time, while keeping the action going. It was truly a blessing to me. Sometimes we have to forget about the drama unfolding and deal with the spiritual warfare that threatens to beset us each day. God is in control.
Rating: Summary: If you liked the first two books ... you'll love this one Review: Although this book only covers a short period of time, it is action packed! It reminded me of the first two books. This book lets you see another side of the characters and again gets into some rather "real" Christian issues. For instance, it talks about God knowing your heart and people not coming to God because the feel they are only doing it out of fear of going to hell. It also talks about pride and our actions being self-centered versus God centered. By they way if you have been wondering what was going on with Rayford and the big changes in his character in the last two books, I think you will really enjoy this book. Overall, I liked this book as much as the first two.
Rating: Summary: One Problem? It leaves you wanting more! Review: For those who have experienced the rollercoaster ride that are the first 6 books of the Left Behind series, number 7 has us on the edge of our seat with it's innumerable twists and turns. The constant feeling of impending disaster for the main characters we have followed since the beginning never leaves us alone. In fact, the greatest problem of this book, along with the whole series is that we are left wanting more, to have the next book in our posession as soon as we put down the previous one. My wife knocked off the book in one sitting where I had to take it a chapter at a time, needing to come up for air regularly from the excitement. The race to the obvious conclusion is not very fast, but infused with incitefulness, fear, danger, intrigue and ultimately frustration, for we want the next book now!
Rating: Summary: Disappointed as well Review: I Love the left behind series, but I did feel that the 3-4 days covered by the book was fairly slow. Hopefully, the next book will return to the style of the previous 6 books.
Rating: Summary: Some things just can't live up to anticipation.... Review: I love the LEFT BEHIND series, but feel like the most recent, THE INDWELLING, did not quite live up to my expectation/anticipation. Reminds me of how everyone could not wait until "PHANTOM MENACE" was released after loving the "STAR WARS TRILOGY". I agree with another reviewer that the authors are great at hooking the reader into the storyline only to sometimes graze the most interesting events. I plan to re-read this book prior to the Fall release of the next book. All the books have made great conversation with believers and non-believers.
Rating: Summary: End times information brought to life Review: I have read each book in the series. One leaves me waiting for the next. While the effect of the times portrayed may not be as horrifying as it surely could be, I appreciate the way it is presented for two reasons. Many people may not be able to grasp and digest the realism of such a devastating time; and many more simply may not wish to. The way in which the story is presented makes it appropriate for a vast portion of the poplulation. In a world of negativism and horrible crime, maybe this is all we can handle for now. Maybe some insight is better than no insight. Maybe focusing on God's mercy and his ability and willingness to help us through horrible situations is the reason to read this series--not to dwell on the devastation and ugliness that brings us to that point in the first place.
