Rating: Summary: How does Salvatore keep making these works of art? Review: Everything about the plot has been said, so I'll keep this short and to the point. It was freaking excellent to read a Drizzt book again, and Salvatore's brilliant writing made it all the more perfect.
Rating: Summary: Sea of Swords Review: This sample already has me wanting to buy it just so I can find out what happens next I have all of the books by R A Salvatore concerning Drizzt and his friends.I have always felt that the author captured a hidden wellspring from his first novel about the drow society. I have followed Drizzt and company and by far this I believe will top them all as his relationship to Cattie Brie seems to be taking on a different course this time and he's know realizing it! and a new Baddie in the works!I can't wait!!
Rating: Summary: Insanely good Review: Even better than Servant of the Shard, which moved a little too fast IMO.
Rating: Summary: The Heroes of Mithril Hall together again! Review: I just finished reading this book after having it only 3 days! This book is another outstanding work in the realm of R.A. Salvatore! The tale of the Heroes of Mithril Hall in search of long lost, in mind and spirit, Wulfgar, and his legendary Aegis-fang warhammer! In the final chapters the Heroes are fully united; Wulfgar, hammer, and all! The action never stops throughout the book though, for there is a subplot of a certain persona hunting for the dark elf that is full of intrigue as well. (and it is not Artemis Entreri) The action is described in the fullest of details, as one would expect from a Salvatore book, and the mysteries are there as well. The biggest mystery to me though is the seeming final ending. Will this be the last book of the legendary Drow? The last chapter, to me, made it seem like it. Only Robert A. Salvatore knows for sure. All in all, this book is a must to buy!
Rating: Summary: Good-bye, This Universe Review: The plot/goal was not enough, Drizzt's intro's to every section are dull any more, I did not like the elf he introduced in this story, he should not have returned Wulfgar as the story is going, there is too much sexual innuendo( the first books hardly had any), I don't like the direction or lack of it in which the story is going, the heroes have done everything, and the character developement seems to be making them all the same character. These books aren't any fun any more.
Rating: Summary: Needs more than ogres Review: This book is good. The battles are well done but nothing that hasn't been seen before. All the characters are developed but there is no strong villian. Le'Orinel is HORRIBLE! I won't spoil it for you but its SO predictable, she has no fighting power either. How can Salvatore spend an entire book on the 2 best villians of all time (Entreri and Jarlaxle) and then have no reference to them at all. The problem with Salvatore is that he has created such spectacular but HUMAN characters. Drizzt will outlive them all unless he suddenly creates a way for Catti-Brie, Entreri and Wulfgar to live on. My personal suggestion is to make them both half-elf. They both obviously never knew their own parents, and to even make it better why shouldn't they be related? That could be AWESOME, also why leave such a cliffhanger for Jarlaxle and then not explain it at all. The only reason the book is 3 stars is because its the Companions of The Hall. There is never a danger of anyone being killed by mere ogres and pirates and the fight scenes cannot be as astounding with such pathetic fighters too much of the book is character development with nothing happening. Regis becomes a hero, Drizzt and Catti-brie develop farther but Salvatore does not make it clear how much. Overall I didn't like the development but it is Drizzt and I can't disagree with that
Rating: Summary: another masterpiece Review: I loved it, R.A. Salvatore has always put his ideals of life into each of his book; not only is this book the story of an adventure but it also carries many ideals about love and friendship under the plot. The only set back in the whole story is Le'lorinel and his obesesion but that is a minor character in Salvatore's grand tapestry of his books.
Rating: Summary: GOOD BUT>>> Review: Being a big fan of all the Dark Elf Books I have learned much about the details of the characters. This book has a glaring flaw in it. Mainly dealing with Drizzt's frostbrand. Overall I thought the book was very entertaining and I enjoyed it thouroughly. Its just those 2 or 3 instances where its almost like Salvatore doesnt even remember his own characters devices or their powers. I'm trying not to be specific so as not to ruin it for anyone. Just be on the looks out in the book. Not his best work, but not his worst.
Rating: Summary: Episode 14: Return of the Ranger Review: Drizt is back. That pretty much sums it up for you if your a fan of the series on why you should buy this book. Aside from that the book is actually quite good but you really do have to read most of the ones that came before it to understand what is going on. Salvatore does a good job on explaining things if you have missed a book or two (Such as myself who skipped Spine of the World and while I read Servent of the Shard it is not nessacary to understand this one). I belive this is the last of the Paths of Darkness series and ends with the door open for a new series. Sea of Swords is both short (compared with other books in the series) and quite fast paced so you will read though it quickly unless your the just the slowest of readers or one that soaks up every last detail. I like the book just because so many of the various characters that have never met before meet here and that some of the plot lines that have dangled ever since The Silent Blade are tied up but not all. There are a couple of plot holes in the book but only one really stuck me as truely improbable but in the end it is minor (Just how did Drizt know to a certain home had bad guys in it and why did one think he was a statue?). Overall the book is another worthy title in the great series.
Rating: Summary: Character Development Makes This Book Review: There have been readers who say that this book doesn't have depth of his previous works, but I disagree. Mr. Salvatore adds so much depth to the Companions in this novel. Previous storylines have been directed by the evil forces around the five of the characters, but Sea of Swords is moved along by the inner forces among them. Emotion and responsibilty more than anything else drives each characters movements. The reader is given insight to the innerworkings of the characters and, as always, Salvatore relates each chapter to real life lessons learned. That being said, this book is not lacking in action or adventure in any way, and the fight scenes are still top-notch. Bottom line: Great book worthy of the series. I look forward to the next one.
