Summary: WOW
Review: This is one of my all-time favorite books. Feist is a master! This book has fast (and I mean fast) moving action, wonderful characters and a deep plot. Like all good books, it has some real lessons for life, too. I'm not a big fantasy fan, but I've read everything Feist has written. You really should read this book, it is a wonderful piece of work!

Summary: Magician: A truly excellent work of fantasy.
Review: Since the age of 6 I have been 'into' the Fiction/ Fantasy genre. The first book I read was 'The Hobbit', which I loved. I moved onto other Tolkien novels, and thereafter sought desperately for years for something of similar depth and scope. When I found Magician, I was nothing less than delighted. From the first 'The rain stopped' until the close of the book, I loved every last word. No, it isn't Tolkien, but it is the only other fantasy work which, with it's broad range of characters, true-life analogies and stunning plotlines, can stand on it's own two feet next to the master. If you haven't gotten into Feist, what do you define as fantasy....? Adrian Garton, Stony Stratford, England

Summary: I recommend this book unreservedly.
Review: If I could only read three books for the rest of my life, they would be (in no particular order): The Lord of the Rings, Magician (parts 1 and 2) and Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. I am a huge Tolkien fan and I just cannot understand how anyone who likes LotR could not like this book. Sure it borrows much from Tolkien, but Feist makes it seem fresh and different. Feist was by no means the first writer to capitalize on Tolkien's opening the door to other fantasy writers and he definitely won't be the last. To people who think that Feist merely "copies" Tolkien: I say that ALL fantasy novels copy Tolkien or else they CEASE TO BE FANTASY! I guess my point is that in order to be considered a fantasy novel, a book must contain at least some of Tolkien's trademarks. Feist certainly borrows from Tolkien and I for one am very glad he did indeed! David Ober

Summary: Highly entertaining.
Review: All books are written to entertain. This and all his others entertained me immensely. That's the whole point, isn't it ?

Summary: One of the most enjoyable books I have read!
Review: I want to thank the previous reviewers of Feist's "Magicians:Apprentice". Without them I never would have entered this fantastic, heartwarming, and brave world. Because of the author you care so much about the characters you begin to live in their world. I don't think I have ever had this experience reading a series of books before. I thank you the reviewers, and Raymond Feist for a wonderful adventure. It is one of those series of books where I envy the person reading them for the first time. Enjoy!

Summary: No More Whining on how it Compares with Tolkien!!!!!
Review: I think I have just about heard enough about how it is just another one of Tolkien's ideas; how Midkemia resembles Middle-Earth and so on. Tolkien practically INVENTED the Fantasy genre. For this reason we could say EVERY Fantasy novel ever written after Tolkien is garbage and that no one will ever be able to compare to Tolkien yata yata yata...Well stop the comparison..so what if Midkemia resembles Middle-Earth? It would have to..just as almost every other novel bears SOME resemblance to Tolkien..He set the Standard...It is the STYLE the author uses and different techniques of writing that counts just as much as the story itself. And if you like Tolkien why couldn't you like any other who resembles him? Feist has a talent, he is a good storyteller, and all of you out there who don't like him because he is a 'so-called' Tolkien rip off GROW UP! If you liked Tolkien, and Feist resembles Tolkien, then you should like Feist as well...

Summary: Brilliant, just try to put it down!
Review: This story gives me the feeling of familiarity and closeness to characters that is also indicative of works by Tolkien.Believable characters like Pug and Thomas help the reader grasp some of the difficulty issues and plots with a childlike simplicity. Not too much narrative allows the reader to become engrossed but not bored by the background events. Magician started it all for me,the series still continues to amaze!

Summary: A boring, stupid story.
Review: It's hard to believe that the writer of "Faerie Tale," an excellent, hard-to-put-down book, could write this drivel. Most of this story is filler and fluff. The very thought of reading the later books in this series is tasteful. To compare this to the excellent "The Lord of the Rings" or "The Belgariad" would be insane.

Summary: Good book but........
Review: Magician was a good book in the beggining and the end but The middle when Pug was going off to the different cities to warn them about the Tsurani was a bit dull. I also thought the characters were a little dull especially Pug. No offence to any Feist fans but I think Pug is a wimp. It was a good book overall with many suspencefull moments but is a bit flawed.

Summary: The greatest modern fantasy series.
Review: So, after hearing so much about this series, I finally pulled myself together and bought the first couple of books... I was not dissapointed. However, the comparison to Tolkien is way off. While Tolkien was original, Feist uses allready used ideas, but makes them work where other authors fail. The series is rather predictial, but in my oppinion, it does not matter.

Simply put, you know what you get from Feist. A superbly told story, many characters you'll either love or hate and if you are a RPGer, I promise you, you will not be dissapointed.
