Summary: One of the best books I have ever read!
Review: I read Magician and it's sequels about six years ago and have re-read them about four times since then, and will probably read them again sometime. From the first page I was captured, and wasn't satisfied until I finished. Even my mother and grandmother have a complete set each! One of my favourite characters is Tomas. I would definatly recommend this book and it's siblings to anyone. Enjoy!!!

Summary: An above average novel, but lacking fresh ideas.
Review: This book was fun to read despite its lack of originality. The book started at a good pace and kept my interest far better than I expected, but I found that many of the most interesting locations in the book bore blatant similarities to Tolkien. I generally don't like to compare most fantasy authors with Tolkien, but in this case, a number of critics had already suggested that Feist had almost matched Tolkien's level of excellence. This is ludicrous in my opinion, but Feist can't be blamed for it, and one of the things I particularly liked about Magician was that it seemed entirely non-egotistical, unlike David Eddings. Anyway, the book was a fun, easy read, with likeable characters and a decent plot. I think I would have enjoyed it even more if friends and critics hadn't given it such vehement rave reviews.

Summary: An enjoyable read.
Review: I hesitate to add to the numerous previuos reviews, but what the heck. I take exception to reviewers who claim this series of books is the all-time best, but in the Pantheon of "High Fantasy" it ranks right up there. I place LOTR still on top due to its classic style and high sense of wonder. There are not dragons hiding under every bush (adding bushels of monsters and supernatural characters is usually a big mistake- read "The Crystal Cave" for an example of how to do it right), and the culminating memorable scenes are painstakingly earned by close reading. Kay is my current favorite fantasy author by a mile: the guy really knows what high fantasy is all about and is almost always on the mark. I place Feist after Kay; I don't get that tingle down the spine Tolkein and Kay give me, but his handling of characters is exceptional and is definitely his strong point. Below these three (so far)is the Belgariad series, which I found to be too thin and juvenile-oriented for me. All that being said, I admit to closeting myself in the wee hours of the night in my bathroom absolutely determined to finish these books (especially the second one). Feist in my opinion can be likened to the "Grisham of Fantasy": an excellent story teller and purveyor of page-turners. Not a bad thing.

Summary: Enjoyable read. Great series.
Review: I found this book to be a series grabber. Feist creates characters to fall for. He keeps enough mystery to continue this series for many books. The worlds and the characters he creates allows the story to unfold at a goodly rate. This book is not heavy but is a great setup for the books that follow. Pug is enjoyabe but I found him typical. I found it was his interation with the other characters helped to make it a better story. If you read this book follow through with the rest it is worth it.

Summary: ABSOLUTLY THE GREATEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN
Review: THERE IS NOT MUCH TO SAY THIS BOOK IS JUST SO GOOD AND THE CHARACTERS ARE SO WELL DEVLOPED THAT THIS BOOK IS JUST ABOUT PERFECT

Summary: Draws you in page after page
Review: Fiest has created a book with characters that are likable and you can relate to. I have not read Any of Tolkien's novels and I would like to say that you should judge Fiest's books as though you have never read any other fantasy and you will find that, though it MIGHT be unoriginal, Fiest is still a very good author.

Summary: It changed my life
Review: I never liked to read. I hated books, I only read when school forced the task upon me, and I detested every minute a binding of paper and ink lay before my weary eyes. My brother bought a game, Betrayal at Krondor, based on the Serpent War saga, the first of which is Magician: Apprentice. He finally talked me into playing it. I fell in love with it! He next conned me into reading!!! Well, I was immediately opposed to the idea, but knowing that he is very obstinate, I obliged him. After about 2 pages, I knew that this was no ordinary book. This was a masterpiece. Since then, I have read every single suceeding book that he has written and enjoyed every page! The truly indescribable power with which Feist composes these works of art cannot be done justice. I thought I would never enjoy books. This was a life saver.

Summary: Magical
Review: The only fantasy novel in which I felt compelled to read the sequel. Big, Bold, Brave and totally absorbing.

Summary: Simply beautiful
Review: This is easily one of the greatest fantasy series ever written. Ever since starting my sojourn into fantasy with the books of Tolkien (shame on you if you haven't read them yet) I have dispared of ever finding something even equaling them. In Feist's book, I believe the match for Tolkien may be found. A very catching and entertaining saga which developes into a fearsome clash between the forces of Good and Evil. The continuing saga only gets better and better.

Summary: The most inspiring, creative read of my life!
Review: What can I say?

After reading this title I was absolutely blown away! I had only ever read Tolkien in the Fantasy realm of literature before and it didn't succeed in hooking me totally. However, after reading Magician (around 1990) I can honestly say that ever since I have gained a substantial library of Fantasy/Magic books, not reading much of anything else. The characters Feist has created are so life like that I was dreaming about them the first night I started the book (after I eventually put it down and went to bed). Since then I have re-read the entire series eight times, enjoying every twist and turn of the story just as much as the first.

I avidly await the continuance of his series of books and wholeheartedly recommend this or any other of this exceptional author's books to anyone who enjoys a good, epic read.
