Summary: A fast paced book that you can't put down. Read it NOW !
Review: The story captures you from the first few lines, then takes you at break neck speed into the Land and the People. Once started, this book is impossible to put down, even at the end, you are looking for more to read........ I'm getting all the other volumes!

Summary: A good way to spend Free time
Review: Those who say Goodkind is not original are going into the book with a closed mind. I am the first to say Jordan is good, but his time has passed and I believe that the fantasy torch has been turned over to Goodkind. The book has little descriptive "fluff", a great cast, and battle scenes comparitive of David Gemmel. I could see a movie run through my head as I ripped through this series. It starts off 60 pages into it and takes off. The second book (Stone of Tears) is the best fantasy book written to date. My only complaint is I can't wait for a fifth book.

Summary: A Well Written Tale of Good vs Evil.
Review:

After looking at the many reviews of this book on-line, I decided to add my own two-cents worth on Goodkind's first novel in his Sword of Truth series.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and Goodkind kept me reading until the very end. I finished the book in a little over a week, and considering the length (836 pages), that's not an easy feat for me.

It's an entertaining tale full of imaginative imagery, colorful characters, and a few good plot twists. One problem I had was that a character was turned into a wolf and could talk, which seemed a bit childish for the book, and there are a few other spots which seemed kind of 'hokey' to me. But these shouldn't deter anyone from reading this novel. After all, even parts of Robert Jordan's masterpiece The Eye of the World seemed childish, but this by no means detracted from the book.

The only problem I had with this book was that it contained a section in which Richard, the protagonist, is tortured without mercy, and Goodkind has this continue for a good long period of time. A good deal of this could have been edited out without detracting from the book. I actually had to put it down and take a rest from the violence, something that I rarely do for any book. But I did come back...

Overall, I believe anyone who is a fan of fantasy should read this first book and judge it for yourself.

Summary: Outstanding series! I'm on book 4, and all in 2 weeks
Review: Wizards first rule sets you up and endears one to all the characters from villian to hero. Truely fits the Stephen King rule of the gotta's... Ya just gotta keep going to find out whats next. The eloquent, simplistic, morally intact theme is refreshing as well as erotic and exciting. I'm worried there will be a 5th book when I finish the 4th and it won't be out yet. I HATE to WAIT! A definite must on my hardback collection shelves! It has made me an avid Terry Goodkind fan from the first reading.

Summary: WONDERFULLY INTRIGUING!!! ONE OF THE BEST!!!
Review: People who rated this book lower than 5 ( mabye even 6 or 7), I can honestly say that you have no taste. though he may not be as good as Tolkien, he is certinly close. we're all entitled to our opinions, but how could you this wonderful book 1!?!?!?! It's not as bad as that. not only were the characters well developed The plot was one of the best i've read in a long time. The only thing I can say bad about this book is that Goodkind spent too much time on Denna

Summary: A good book but a bad one!
Review: I have read many fantasy novels and seemed to have aquired a taste for books with magic in them. I have devowered every book in the library that had to do with magic. One day I had happened to stumble upon this book and decided to read it. I was captivated almost right away. By the time Richard was kidnapped, I felt so much like the characters that I had actually cried when I read the part where he was captured. In my own sense, I had Richard's pain, and the only way for it to leave me would be by finishing the book and "feel" Richard being happy once again. There were some gruesome parts, but I believe they were needed to make the book have that special flow that it had.

Summary: Excellent and pure fantasy
Review: As I look back over the multitudes of reviews, I am happy to see the great majority favoring this wonderfull book. I am, however, dismayed at those who pick on the small details that make this book to them unreadable. First off, fantasy is a cliche within itself. No fantasy book can be writen without drawing from some other source. Two, if you pass the time criticaly analyzing spelling and grammar in everything you read without enjoying it, you have obviously missed the point. Those are my gripes. This a fantasticaly rich book full of vivid imagery and briliant characters. Although some minor yet interesting characters are shoved of very quickly, some are alowed to develope beautifuly within a small amount of book space. It even has a subtle, conversational humour to it, something lacking in quite a few fantasy novels since most humour is non existant or over the top. By far one of the best fantasy books of all time. This series should be on your shelf, in hardcover, resting against The Lord Of The Rings. A note to review writers though. STOP DIVULGING ESENTIAL PLOT ELEMENTS HERE! The one person who mentioned the villans relationship with the hero was equivalent to the blaber mouth who reveals the ending of a film on the way out (ie: The Star Wars reference our friend used). When I come here to read reviews about a book I might wish to purchas I do not want to know the whole story line. For those that have read this, you have been imensley patient to my ravings and please excuse the *spelling and grammar*.

Summary: Best book I ever read? Come on!
Review: For all those people out there who are saying that this series is "the best ever". Either you haven't read very many books, or you don't know what *good* writing is.

Read some of the *good* authors out there: Robert Jordan, L.E. Modessitt Jr., Lois McMaster Bujold, Mercedes Lackey, Anne McCaffery, Tanya Huff etc. etc.

This book is FLUFF - kind of like a trashy romance novel, or a good, "First Fantasy" novel for teenagers.

But folks, there's a lot of better authors out there!

Summary: A really great book.....
Review: I have read many of the negative reviews, and am beginning to wonder why people who don't like this book write a 100 lines on WHY its bad. Sure, Goodkind copied. But so what? Who doesn't copy. His characters are deep and believeable, and his world is worth coming back to. And this is what fantasy is about. He does have a lot of originality as well (confessors, mord-sith). And i seriously doubt that anyone could have seen the ending coming way back on page 100. Obviously everyone knows that good will win in the end, but i dont buy the book for the ending. I buy it for the journey. For the 800 pages between page one and the last page. So, if you are a fantasy fan and like long, deep books, this one is for you.
