Summary: Simply awesome.
Review: Wizard's First Rule is the best book I've ever read and that's saying a lot. I just loved all the characters. I'd try to go to sleep at night but I would end up having to wake up just to find out what happened next. Then when I feel asleep, like the other person who did a review, I would have dreams about the book. As I was eating brekfast the next morning my mom would ask me questions like "Who in the world is Kahlan, and what's a Sword of Truth?" She told my I had been yelling about the book in my sleep.

Summary: Yick. Yick. An apotheosis of badness.
Review: I am nearly at a loss in finding anything positive to say about Terry Goodkind's "Wizard's First Rule" -- the best thing about this fantasy novel is its grammar, which is mostly correct. The novel is otherwise an apotheosis of poor writing technique, insipid characterization, and incoherent storytelling. It reads as if written by an ambitious 12-year-old, except without the originality of a 12-year-old's imagination.

Given that the plot of this novel is lifted directly and without embellishment from other (far more interesting) sources, it astounds me that the author is so singularly unsuccessful in generating any texture for his setting, or lending any emotional depth to his characters.

This is an entirely derivative, poorly-executed fantasy novel, with no redeeming literary merit whatsoever. Make no mistake. We're not talking about even remotely the same ballpark as occupied by such contemporary fantasy authors as Martin, Modesitt, Jordan, Silverberg, or Moon. On a five-star scale where three stars represents middle-of-the-road, uninspired and unremarkable storytelling, this is a solidly one-star novel. Don't waste your money. Virtually any alternative is superior.

Summary: Comparisons aside, this is one good book
Review: Okay, so some things are pretty damn similar in nature to some work of Mr. Jordan. I still believe that this book is more entertaining than the first wheel of time book, which in my opinion moved at a much slower pace. Give it a chance, even with the similarities i think WFR wins out.

Summary: The Best!
Review: I adored Wizard's First Rule. It is about 1000 pages and I finished it on one day. I'm not even that fast of a reader! To anyone who wants to share this amazingly obsesive book, just buy it! You'll be hooked after the first page.

Summary: Too good to be true...
Review: Wizards First Rule binds adventure and romance all into one...not the mushy romance found in most schmut novels but romance of true love. If this were a movie I would have watched it about one million times already. The story line is one that sucks the reader in to where she/he never wants to put the book down, the lives of the two characters just meld your mind and when you do put the book down it is all you think about all day. I was enthralled by the magic and majestics of this novel. I praise Terry Goodkind for such an awesome work, I have all my friends hooked on it too!

Summary: Time To Reflect
Review: I read WFR around Christmas of '94. In the time since then I've read all seven of Jordan's current books, Goodkind's other three, the original Shannara series, some McAffrey, some Lackey, some Eddings, some Anthony, and some Orson Scott Card. Of course I've read the classics: Tolkien and C.S.Lewis.

Yet, out of all of those books I still think that WFR is the best fantasy novel ever written. When I was reading it, I actually had dreams in which I would have short adventures with Richard, Chase, and Zedd. (Sadly, Kahlan never appeared.) I was so immersed in the story and knew the characters so well that I could actually have conversations with them in my dreams; that's pretty incredible. I'll admit that there were only a few of those dreams, but that's a lot considering I read the novel in one weekend. Despite how cliché this might sound, I just couldn't put the book down.

If am to be completely honest, I should say that Jordan's Wheel of Time is a better series. However, Wizard's First Rule is the best fantasy novel ever written -- you will not regret the few dollars spent. (Hell, I've bought copies for every library in my area.)

Summary: Outstanding
Review: This is one of the best fantasy books that I have read. I recommend this to all who love the adventures of people so much like us

Summary: Good Characters and PLot development.
Review: I found that the book has a great plot. While some of the outcomes of the plot is a bit predictable, the twists and turns Mr. Goodkind takes us on while unfolding his book is very satisfying. I particularly enjoyed the character developement of the main characters which becomes more appreciable when one continues on to the other books of the series. I have read all the SWORD OF TRUTH series save the fourth one which I am in the midst of reading. I hope that Mr. Goodkind shall continue to write this series!!!!!

Summary: The Best Ever
Review: I didn't even knew of this book untill I joined the SF-Book Club and ordered it as an introductory book. After I got the book I started reading it, because I was bored, and I must say this is one of the best book I have ever read. If you like Fiction, you must read this book. If you will excuse me I am going to order the next 3 books ...

Summary: Exciting and fast paced fantasy reading.
Review: As I finished up the last book from Robert Jordan, I felt as though some special, albeit imaginary, friends had left me. I casually picked up Wizard's First Rule as an intermediary until the next Jordan book came out, and was very surprised at how quickly I became engrossed in the novel. Excellent fantasy reading.
