Summary: Exquizzit!!
Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read. Its worthy of the mighty Tolkien. All praise the mighty Goodkind.

Summary: Realistic to the point of Non-Fiction
Review: I'm only halfway done and already I love it. It is one of the few books that I have read that I can get into and begin seeing things in the book with such detail that I lose all sense of time. I couldn't compare it to Tolkien, but it is like Shannara. The way that it is written makes the reader feel like they are not only there, but they are doing something there. READ THIS BOOK.

Summary: A very gripping tale that gets better as the book goes along
Review: I listened to this on audio cassette and it was wonderful. I'm not usually into fantasy books very much, but my husband urged me to listen. It was one of the best books I've ever came across. It grabbed my attention from the beginning and got even better the farther I got into it. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Summary: Quite good
Review: After the first couple of chapters of 'Wizard's First Rule', I assumed that it would be a standard run-of-the-mill fantasy story with very little in the way of originality or new material. The book, in this reviewer's opinion, starts weakly, with one-dimensional characters and a weak plot. Goodkind's successive introductions of different characters to the reader seem almost obligatory, and the reader can feel the contrivance of most of the introductory portion of the book. However, the book steps up the tempo and the plot sharply, once the obligatory character introductions are made and the journey begins. The use of prophecy in the book is masterful, allowing for a ever-twisting plot. Much of the emotional content of the book is also genuinely touching. A key element in the writing is the brutality of the story: Goodkind describes and discusses such events as rape, murder, and torture with a practiced precision of language, discarding the tendency to merely describe these events by implication (as do many other authors) in favor of direct description of the events. This casual attitude makes the book one that certain younger readers might do well to stay away from. As an adult book, these diffident descriptions of violence and death add quite a bit to the story on both an emotional and descriptive level. In addition, the sense of duty felt by these characters in their quest, the need to do whatever is necessary to accomplish their objective and save the world, adds a new dimensionality to the story. Because of their duty, often the main characters must be pitted against each other, even though they are effectively on the same side. After its slow start, this book turns into a quite compelling and enjoyable fantastic drama, and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Summary: detailed,interesting,beliveable charecters
Review: At 12, I read my first Goodkind book. I was compelled to read the rest, which I have, and am eagerly awaiting the relase of book five. Wizards First Rule is my favorite after reading all. My first book, Temple of the Winds, I recieved as a Christmas gift. The detailed, interesting, and beliveable charecters:Kahlan, Richard, Zedd, Gratch ext... provide for an engossing series worth the interest of other readers.

Summary: THIS BOOK WAS INDEED THE START OF A GREAT SERIES.
Review: I BELIEVE THIS BOOK IS A WELL WRITTEN FANTASY NOVEL. I HAVE YET TO READ JORDAN, SO I CAN'T COMPARE THE BOOK TO ANY OF HIS WORKS, I DO LIKE TO READ MERCEDES LACKEY, AND FROM READING BOTH AUTHORS I CAN SAY THAT GOODKIN IS BY FAR THE BEST. THE ONLY THING THAT I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT THE BOOK WAS THAT AFTER THE FIRST FIFTY PAGES IT SLOWED DOWN TIL ABOUT THE NEXT FIFTY PAGES AND THEN I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN. I CAN'T WAIT TO START THE NEXT BOOK IN THE SERIES.

Summary: Excellent! USA Michigan
Review: I am not sure if this was a good thing or not, but Wizards First Rule was the first fantasy book I ever read. I must say however that it was this book that hooked me on fantasy. After reading the first three books and awaiting the fourth, I started to look for other books that could quench my new thirst. After coming across The Eye of the World by Jordan I thought I had found a set of books that seemed at first, comparable to the Sward of Truth, and for the first two books it was but by the middle of the third book I lost interest.

In short I have not been able to find any authors that can keep my interest up the way Goodkind can. If I had read Jordan's work sooner things may be different and I would now be pacing the bookstore awaiting his next release.

PS I see some people have been posting low scores for this and other book and they haven't even read it through. ? What is that all about? Come on people please don't post low scores for a book that you haven't even read this lowers the over all score turning people off to a truly great book.

Summary: a masterpiece, no more no less.
Review: No fantasy novel since J.R.R Tolkiens Lord of the rings, has given me more inspiration than Wizard's first rule. Terry Goodkinds pen is full all the aspects I expect from an epic fantasy novel, its truly a masterpiece, no more no less.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Seems boring.
Review: I haven't gone through it and don't know if I will but anyway, here it goes: For me when I read fantasy the characters have to be interesting, very important. I like Jordan's characters but these ones seemed a bit frail. Also the plot wasn't engaging wich it should have been since it lacked this extraordinary creativity which I think a good fantasy writer should have but maybe I'll like it if I read it through?
