Summary: Imaginative plot; short on character
Review: Goodkinds first novel of the Sword of Truth series is trully imaginative. His writing is fair and his story and world varied and descriptive enough to make it an interesting and enjoyable read. However, it took me nearly 400 pages to truly get into this story. I found the relationships between Goodkind's characters to be static and predictable. In parts, it was like reading a Martha Stewart attempt at relationships--with obvious and overdone fawnings between Kaylan and Richard. From the very start they treat each other with perfect chivalry and love and cuddlings to the point of distraction.

Nevertheless, Goodkind's magic and conflict devices are interesting and his work on the Mord Sith is some of the best fantasy I have ever read anywhere! Unfortanately that part comes after page 400. A recommended read if you have not read Martin's Game of Thrones or Tolkiens Lord of the Rings?

Summary: "Simply Divine!"
Review: The Wizards First Rule is the first book of mystery and fun of Terry Goodkind. He makes some details seem insginifigant and then he pulls everything together all at once. His imagry and description is wonderful. After reading this you are left hungry for more Wizards and Confessors and Seekers. I felt like my mind was starving, because I wanted the next book so badly. There were no faults in this book and it makes your creative juices start flowing; this is a great book.

Summary: This book underwhelmed me
Review: I found reading this book. very tiresome. It was like their was 300 pages of story stretched out over 800 pages. The Characters were unconvincing and one dimensional. I predicted most of the plot twists, and i'm the kinda guy who never sees anything coming. The main antagonist was uninteresting and not really developed fully. Overall this book was a giant waste of time.

Summary: Excellent book
Review: I decided to write this review as a rebutal to everyone's claim that the torture scene was too much and too long. I whole heartedly disagree. I thought it was intriuging, not only that but it plays a large role in the sequels so it is important. If you read the sequels and it didnt tell at least some of what had happened to him then you would never understand why he is the way he is. Anyways thats all I wanted to say other than I love this book and i have read it at least five times, as well as the sequels.
