Summary: Sugoi! It's the best book I have read!
Review: All I can say is that this has been the most enthralling book that I have ever read. My friend introduced me to this book and I have never turned back; I am grateful that she did. It sucks you into the world of Richard Cypher - a world full of magic, romance, adventure, and truth - and lets you live it. The characterization and plot are well fabricated and exceptional. Goodkind didn't just tell me a story, I learned from this book, there's a lot of truth in it. Page after page, chapter after chapter, I read this book till I finished it from cover to cover, which I might add took quite a long time since it was about 800 pages though it was worth the dinner I skipped out on ^_^. What else can I say but to buy this book ( as well as the ones after) and enjoy the world he creates. It's such a great book I even suggested it to my teacher. Well I truely hope that you read it, just remember books are for enjoyment.

Summary: Couldn't put it down
Review: This book is one of the most engrossing books I've ever read. If anything proves that, I read all 800-some pages of it in 2 days! I practically couldn't put it down! Terry Goodkind goes to amazing steps to aquaint the reader with his characters, good and evil, and drives your emotions all through the book. I think I really love the way he portrays Darken Rahl because he is so perfect outwardly, yet inside he's the worst possible monster you could think of. The violence can be stomach turning in its graphicness, but It's almost like you feel the pain along with the characters, emotionally and physically. Unlike some books, with glorified perfect heroes, Wizard's First Rule has flawed, decidedly human characters that have thier vices and problems, and aren't just the perfect white knight with the gleaming armor and the beautiful, yet strong maiden that gets in trouble a lot, they're more like real people in thier emotions and hardships. It's not only an intense, violent, and emotional book, it also has its own unique moments of comedy, to lighten it up a little. I really really loved this book a lot and I would recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy and likes to read good books. I'm an avid reader, and I'v never experienced a book like this one!

Summary: Not worth the money.
Review: Somehow this book seems to be getting a lot of 5-star reviews. I really wonder why. Just put this book next to Jordan's; read both "The eye of the world" and "Wizard's first Rule" and it would seem to me that any sane human being could impossibly think Wizard's First worth five stars. Whole newsgroups have been created to discuss Jordan's work, the clues he gives to what's going to happen etc. I somehow don't see that happening to this book. It simply has no depth, there are too much improbabale events and then just keeps dragging from one predictable event to the next one, it lacks good characterbuilding and is quite unimaginative. Dang, it doesn't even have a cool detailed map of the world (not that that would make this book or any book better, but I always like it when work goes into the details). Just some mountains and a few dots. I bought the book, expecting to get a good read and halfway through I thought about putting it away, but still read on (hoping it would get better). Let me spoil the surprise: it didn't. I really won't be reading the other books of this serie. I'd rather read Jordan's works a second time, or Tolkien, Martin or Wiliams for that matter.

Summary: Wizards First Rule
Review: This is a book of good taste and brilliant wording. I love this book so much that I started telling people that my book was eating me due to the fact that it is so good i dont want to put it down. I find myself alternating between the book and reality as if the book was a reality of its own. This is a book of great poportions and should be read by all.

Summary: Great read, NOT a Robert Jordan copy
Review: This is the best fantasy book I have ever read, if not the best book I have ever read. I could not put it down until I finished it. I think Terry Goodkind is the best thing that has ever happened to fantasy novels. I would also like to comment on the accusations that Terry Goodkind simply copied Robert Jordan's works. I admit there are some MINOR similarities, but come on, it's a fantasy novel. I mean, every fantasy novel has a hero who must rise to the occasion to defeat some foe in an epic of good versus evil. I'm sure Goodkind has read Robert Jordan's series and many others, using small aspects of imagination from them while adding his own sparks of imagination. If you're trying to decide between this series and Jordan's series, I would bend greatly toward Goodkind. Goodkind has a way with words. The characters come to life, igniting one's imagination. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the ones after it, and I would put them up to Robert Jordan's books any day.

Summary: BEST BOOK EVER
Review: Hi. My names is Bobby, and Im 19. I've read Wizard's First Rule numberous times (It's better every time I read it). I've been looking around, but where I live no one had the sequal...im surprized to learn that there are 4 more books I need to add to my collection. Terry Goodkind is without a doubt the best fantasy writer out today. Keep writing, I promise I will read them all.

Summary: Great Stuff
Review: I am relatively new to the sci-fi/heroic fantasy world. Before Terry Goodkind, the only other books in this genre I had read were by Anne McCaffrey. I loved Wizard's First Rule. Funnily enough, I bought it purely by accident - picking it off the shelf at random while in a "what the heck" mood.

Right from the start, Goodkind pulls you deeper and deeper into his complex, carefully woven world of magic, swords and sorcery. I can't believe how many bad reviews this book has received! From the moment I began, I couldn't put it down. I read this book in 9 straight hours - I didn't finish it until 2.30am on a weeknight. Then, I couldn't wait to read the sequels (which meant 3 more sleepless nights).

I too am now impatiently awaiting the release of "Soul of the Fire" and "The Sword of Truth". Unfortunately, living in New Zealand, our release dates can be up to 6 months behind the USA. It's enough to tear your hair out!

Nevertheless, I'm sure it will be worth the wait. Richard and Kahlan are one of the best hero and heroine matches I have encountered in a very long time. It is very rare to find a book that has the capacity to take you on an emotional roller coaster throughout the story - "Wizard's First Rule" does this and more.

Terry Goodkind rules!

Summary: A engrossing but dark fantasy novel.
Review: I really enjoyed "Wizard's First Rule" in that it was absolutely fascinating. I haven't gotten as involved in a book for a long time. It was gripping, it was amazing, I couldn't put it down. I would read it while walking down the school halls between classes. So why didn't I give it 5 stars? Because this book was too dark for my liking. Many have complained about the graphic Mord-Sith torture, but that didn't bother me. What bothered me was that every character either was trying to die, wanted to die, couldn't die, wished they could die, was trying to make someone else die . . . and on and on and on. I love fantasy, but my real life is hard enough without spending my limited free reading time reading about a world of torture and mayhem. And that's what the entire series is like. Horrible, horrible things keep happening to the same two people. And all through it, they see almost know hope and want only to die. Death is the only freedom they see. Geez. Other than that, I enjoyed this book. It had a cool plot and a very good and true moral (as stated in the title, though you don't know that until you're fairly far in the book). It's a good book. Give it a try; just don't read it if you're already depressed!

Summary: Amazing
Review: I am very Intrigued by the slate of bad reviews this book is being given. I personally found it to be one of the most engrossing books to come my way in a long time. It has been over four years since I first read WFR, have devoured every book in the series, and am waiting for Soul of the Fire right now. To each his own I suppose, but for me, this book got me back into reading fantasy after a long hiatus. As for the scenes with the Mord-Sith being too graphic, if that is the case then may I reccomend some C.S. Lewis, perhaps it will be more to your liking. I found them to be one of the best parts of the book which spurred more character development than anything else. With out a doubt this is one of my all time favourites. I plunged in for four days non-stop barring work and sleep. I have never found a book capable of doing that. If you are thinking about reading this book, I say go for it, you will not regret it.

Summary: Great Book
Review: I have read 5 of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time books and I am getting tired of it. I was in need of another great series to read. It looks like I found it in the form of Terry Goodkind's books. He is an excellent writer with a flowing style. Hopefully he won't overwrite the series Like R. Jordan did whith his.
