Rating: Summary: Homeland can only be matched by the other two! Review: Even the cover art (by Jeff Easley) is Great.
Rating: Summary: The Beginning to the Epic Trilogy is GREAT! Review: I've barely completed reading Homeland and have already started on Salvatore's next Dark Elf book, Exile. The series has captivated me and it lets me express my opinion to myself in another way. I've always felt "Elf-like" :) to myself, and this is like studying a whole unique culture that is unknown to anyone! Many authours and write about a culture, or write a story within a current culture, some even can create a type of culture, but few can do what R. A. Salvatore did with Drizzt Do'urden and his kin. Salvatore desinged an entire culture, complete with diety, Lloth, religeon, Station, setting, Underdark, and MUCH more! In addition to creating this culture, he did much more by writing a completly wonderful story to go with it! Drizzt can relate to many feelings, the most of which I have felt myself. I feel trapped in my life at times, like I don't truly belong with my family, and Drizzt feels the same, but unlike me, he DOES somwthing about it. Drizzt is like a hero to me, and I admire him in many ways! -An Elven Artist
Rating: Summary: The beginnings of a masterpiece Review: This book that begins a many book series is one of the best I have ever found. Salvatore is an expert and descriptions that are complete and yet still run smoothly with the story. Tho his following books are all excellent, the first has always been one of my favorites. You won't regret this one.
Rating: Summary: Sweet book. Review: This is an awsome book. My friend was telling me about it and I prettended to act interested. So he offered me the book to read and I excepted out of courtesy, but boy was I suppprised. The book is awsome. It waves an intricate tale of decite and destruction. Definatly one of the best books I have ever read.
Rating: Summary: Great begining to a great epic adventure Review: This book takes you through the important years of a young noble drow elf of the 9th house of Menzoberanzzan. It talks about how he fights for what he belives, in the demonic world he lives in. He goes against his people thier way of government and thier chaotic diety. A great begining to a great epic adventure. Truly worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Best of Salvatore's 'Drizzt books,' great book in general. Review: One of the other posted reviews mentions a similarity between Drizzt and Luke Skywalker. I heartily agree with this... Drizzt falls perfectly under the heading of mythic hero. Anyone familiar with Joseph Campbell's work (or mythology in general) will recognize Salvatore's superb use of symbolism and masterful weaving of a truly mythic character and his quest.
Rating: Summary: I have just two words to say, Hail to Bob Salvatore!!!!!! Review: This is one of those books that you have to buy,the story is compelling and once you read it you will want to read the other Dark Elf books. BUY THIS BOOK! I dont care where you buy it from but buy it.
Rating: Summary: The Best Review: This book is the one of the best Salvatore ever wrote, everything a person wanted to know about Drizzt's past is portrayed in this book, from birth to self-exile (or exodus) Salvatore brilliantly protrays his characters, from the wicked Matron Malice, malicious Briza, confused Vierna, cunning and witful Jarlaxle, to Noble Drizzt and Zaknafein. If your only going to read one Salvatore book, this is the one to read..not to mention the first one to read, cause it deals with the earlist aspect of Drizzt's life...
Rating: Summary: Best Books Ever Review: Mr Salvatore has outdone all other writters with the character Drizzt Do'Urden, most people -myself included stick with a character. This alone sells more of the next books. The only characters ever comming close being the twins Raistlin and Cammorn Majere, but Drizzt after reading the books for the third time definalty has the edge...well done This book is by far one of the best books in the series following the life of Drizzt. This book tuned into a film if done properly could be one of the best films ever made. My thoughts goto Drizzt alone and against all the odds
Rating: Summary: Drizzt kicks butt, literally Review: This book became obsessive, and it was difficult to part from it. Upon contemplating the meanings and intricacies of "Homeland", I came upon a startling revelation. Just asking, but doesn't it seem like Drizzt and Menzoberranzan draw a direct similey with Luke Skywalker and Mos Eisley?? Evil city and good guy's struggle to survive, find his place, secure his dreams and ideals. The plot was wonderfully descriptive and intricate. I look forward to reading more of Salvatore's works, and I highly recomend this thrilling book to any who are reading this.
