Summary: A good read - worth the time and cover price.
Review: I found this book quite enjoyable. The lifestyle of the drow elves were reminiscent of Moorcock's Melniboneans, though not a copy of or mockery of them. This doesn't mean, however that Salvatore is on par with Moorcock, but of course not many are. Drizzt's internal conflicts were quite refreshing in a genre where most conflicts take place on battlefields or in taverns. I recommend this book, and I look forward to reading new titles by this author who has obvious talent and great promise.

Summary: It was so good I read it twice.
Review: This book is crammed full of brilliance and wonder. It has adventure and action that would make your head blow off. I would recommend this book to anyone who could read it because it makes your imagination soar. I think this would go well for everyone who doesn't mind sword fighting, spell casting, and evil monsters. This story takes place in a realm that is in the depths of earth called the Underdark. It centers on a Drow. (Drow are elves with dark skin and white hair. They are cousins to the elves that live on the surface.) Most Drow live in the huge city of Menzoberanzan where a lot of the story occurres. The Drow that the story centers on is named Drizzt Do'Urden and you will meet his friends, family, companions, and enemies. It talkes about what he goes through living in the city and what he feels about his people and their ways. This book is full of suprises and turn. Another thing that is awsome is the conclusion to story is great and It's part of a trilogy called "The Dark Elf Trilogy" so after your done with the book there is more action to come. This book swept me off my feet and I couldn't put it down. It was so good I read it twice. This book didn't have any problems with it but if I have to say a bad aspect it would be that in the begining you don't quite understand what is going on, but shortly after everything falls into place. The best aspects are how well they discribe the fights and the surroundings that the elves encounter. This is one of the best books I have ever read and I give it five stars. I hope that you will enjoy this book as much as I have because it's a keeper.

Summary: Drizzt is my hero!
Review: Anyone interested in Advanced Dungeon and Dragon's this is a must read novel! Only books that I have read that are better are in the same trilogy or written as a sequel to the Dark Elf trilogy. Masterpiece.

Summary: Homeland is the best book R.A. Salvatore has written!!
Review: Homeland is a great book, after reading it I had to read the entire Drizzt series! Though some of Salvatores other books come close, I have to say that Homeland is the best of all of them!

Summary: Most likely Salvatore's finest
Review: "Homeland" is possibly R.A. Salvatore's finest work written to date, with the possible exception of "The Legacy". A beautiful story set in perhaps one of the most creative settings ever in a fantasy story, this story both tugs at one's heartstrings and pulls at one's imagination. Menzoberranzen is presented in such intricate, almost loving, detail that one wonders if Salvatore has created the world or is merely reporting on it. The morality of the book, so often overdone in many of his later books, is perfectly presented in this story as the main character, Drizzt, must begin to make his own decisions as to what is wrong and right. Salvatore as well, writes of a very intricate relationship between Drizzt's father and his son, a relationship that is much more complex and intricate than many in his later books. The characterization in this book is superior to many of his other books, and the reader can come to believe that the characters are real people in a real world, so vividly are each painted. In general, this book is excellent in every way, a complex and gripping story set in a detailed and wonderous world. Any fan of fantasy, and many people who are not fans, will love this story. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Summary: Best book I have ever read!!!!!
Review: Drizzt Do'urden is positively the most intriguing and enthralling character ever created. At every turn there is a thrilling story waiting to unfold. This is one of those books you have to read more than once to fully understand the complexity and interlaced plots. I highly recommend reading the entire trilogy. I look forward to following the later chronicles of this enchanted character.

Summary: Fun read of a Dark elf
Review: Being on the wrong side of my 20's, I didn't think I'd still like TSR fantasy books at this age, but this Dark Elf trilogy is definetely a fun read. Salvatore is by no means a master wordsmith, but he manages to convey a lot of energy and inventiveness into his writing. His main strength is his ability to write great fight scenes. I haven't read better when it comes to descibing sword fights, magic battles, other action scenes.

There's lots to like about the sad, misunderstood, but fiercely determined Drizzt -- the only good-hearted, Drow Elf in all the lands above and below.

Since the books are aimed at young and old, the writing won't stretch your intellect, but who cares. It'll definetely stretch your imagination!

Summary: Non stop pulse pounding entertainment!
Review: I had just finished the dragon lance trilogy and i needed some literature to read desperately my prayers were answered once i picked up the dark elf trilogy. If you like majestic sword play, devious villains, and lots of inner-termoil take my advice and buy all three books.

Summary: This is an incredible book.
Review: In "Homeland", R. A. Salvatore's story of an evil dark-elven city and the drow caught in it, Drizzt Do'Urden is born to a Matron Mother, a priestess of the goddess Lloth. Drizzt's ideals and morals are alien to all his family but his father, a skilled Weapon Master who may train Drizzt to become even better than he. Drizzt's panther friend Guenhwyvar also shares Drizzt's views. Staying in the city of those who kill the merciful cannot be an option for the two, but fleeing is equally suicidal. This story is free of other contradictions in some of R. A. Salvatore's other works (character's abilities, such as Guenhwyvar's, seem to fluctuate as the books continue). The incredible skills of Drizzt and his father are made more credible by play-by-play action accounts, which keep you in step with how the characters skills differ and why one character lost and the other won. This also stops you from deciding that one was suddenly struck by invisible li! ghtning, allowing the opponent to win. This may be Salvatore's best book.

Summary: A look at the raising of the lovable Drizzt!
Review: All I got to say that this is an awsome book! From Drizzt's birth to the exile of him to the dreaded Underdark, this book keeps you reading! The treachery of the drow to the training in their academy, this shows you every detail of the dark elf society.
