Summary: The fairy-tale continues
Review: Last year, I happened upon Kiss of Shadows in my library. Ever since reading that book, I have read all of the Anita Blake Series as well. I had to wait for months for Caress of Twilight to come out, and needless to say, I wasn't disappointed. People that have not read KOS first will find this story a bit confusing because there isn't as much background history in COT. COT was written with the assumption that the first in the series was already completed. Ms. Hamilton does not take the time to review every single character (which I am grateful for, nothing is more irritating than having to learn the history of each character over and over again in a new book). COT picks up about three months after KOS ended. Merry and her men are still working for the Grey detective agency, and they are given a case to resolve for someone not only famous in the human world, but infamous in the fey world. For those that have a yearning for romance, there is plenty to be had. For those that are more into the paranormal/violent part, there is also a good amount of that. I found that the sex scenes in this novel are much less disturbing than the ones in the Anita Blake ones (at least in Narcissus in Chains), in fact, the sex scenes are not made to be a deviation from the norm, rather they are a part of the story (although one was a bit weird for me...but it was a height issue for me personally...if you've read the book, you'll understand, I don't want to reveal it because it is a surprise). I even discovered that I no longer have a favorite heroine between the two series. Anita's story is more about trying to keep true to herself, but there's so much torment in her life that it's very hard to do. I feel that Merry is much more secure in who she is and what she needs to do. I think that Ms. Hamilton does a fabulous job of weaving a story of a world that is much like our own, but vastly different as well. I think that my only complaint about this book is that it was much too short. The hardback is only about 350 pages long + or -, not over 400 as posted on this site. I would be willing to pay extra for one of her books if that's what it takes to get a longer story, especially now that we have to wait until next year (2003) for the next installment of either Anita or Merry.

Summary: R-Rated Fun!
Review: The continuation of the Princess Meredith adventures is not disappointing. The sex, violence, mystery, political intrigue, murder and suspense continue chapter to chapter. SEX- Meredith shows us the other side of her awe-inspiring ex-gods and deadly warriors. However, the sex could have been a little longer and more playful. It seemed too dutiful with little wonderment from such powerful beings that have been celibate for hundreds of years. Even though Doyle made a lot of noise he could have been louder. There is some rivalry between the guards for Merry's affection and favor although they are fully aware that it doesn't really matter when one of them fathers her child. That man she will marry whether she is in love with him or not. VIOLENCE- Lots of horrific dead people but we are only allowed to view the aftermath....Her bodyguards don't show their deadly prowess either. Again we only get to view the aftermath. No little black spiders breaking out of the bad guys bodies. MYSTERY- A predictable whodunit, but the reveled secrets were worth waitng for. Rhys has a secret that he revels when the Nameless is unleashed. It gives us an idea of how old the Guards really are. POLITICAL INTRIGUE- Great court politics. It was great being there with Merry while she tried to strengthen her political clout among clearly insane and bloodthirsty Royal Fey. SUSPENCE- WE WERE SET-UP! (wait for the ending) There must be a third book and now I will lose my mind waiting for it. LKH created enough suspense to keep us well entertained when the plot changed directions. Kitto gets a great surprise. I wish we could have seen alot more of his personality. His phobia was getting old.
Overall I enjoyed this book and I wanted more than what the 448 pages had to give. This book seemed to take place in the same time span as one episode of "Law and Order" as if it were a series. There are too many great characters and a bright colorful world to not be explored fully with each chapter.

Summary: A Fabulous Read
Review: After waiting a very long time (so it seemed to me) for the second Meredith Gentry, the book did not disappoint. The book was filled with more sex and a little less politics than the first, but that is to be expected as they are not at court with the Wicked Witch/Aunt, Queen Andais who does make guest appearances. However, there are still plenty of political machinations. The descriptions in the book of how Meredith feels is so wonderful. Meredith is happy in her apartment with her guardsmen and Kitto. Everyone is given a little more depth than just being a pretty face. The background of Nicca, Doyle, Rhys, Kitto. Meredith is finally learning what being a queen means and what sacrifices will entail. Although the villain, the Nameless and the hungry ones, in this book play only a small part, the hungry ones get about 3 chapters and the Nameless finally emerges near the end. Meredith gets a new hand of power and some ones she did not expect. The book leaves me waiting for the next one as the first one did for this. However the typos and grammar mistakes I found and because the evil in the book was not as well plotted takes a little away from the book.

Summary: This series just keeps getting better.
Review: I recieved my book Carress from Amazon and anxiouslly took it home, opened the package, and breathed a sigh of relief. Merry is now with her ravens and learning how to get along with them and trying to conceive her child to become Queen in the seelie court. She is also trying to help Galen heal so he can join her ravens to help her get pregnant,along the way they have to find out who is viciously murdering people and to fight the Nameless One. I really like this book as well as the first book in this new series. Only one complaint, Laurell I miss your longer books please make your next Merry Gentry novel a longer book, PLEASE.........

Summary: LKH Does it Again!
Review: I am a huge fan of all Laurell K. Hamilton's works and eagerly await all her new works. A Caress of Twilight does not disapoint. The second instalment of the Merry Gentry series picks up exactly where A Kiss of Shados leaves off. Princess Meredith of the Unseelie sidhe is trying to secure her throne by producing an heir for the court. This novel still focuses on the court politics and scandal of the fey, but it also introduces new charecters, complications and resolutions. Merry has to help an ex-Seelie goddess while trying to protect her lovers and friends from a new threat.
Ms. Hamilton does not let down with her newest novel and I will just have to wait for Merry's next adventure. A recomended read for all those who love fantasy, romance or mystery.

Summary: Merry Gentry's giving Anita Blake a run for the money!!!
Review: A friend suggested I try Laurell's Merry Gentry series after I devoured all of her Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter books. I was skeptical -- could they be as much fun? Well, I am here to assure you -- they're even more fun! I read both Kiss of Shadows and Caress of Twilight back to back, and came away amazed at the author's imagination. Sexy, scary, suspenseful and just plain fun to read. (Oh, and did I mention the sex ???) If anything, Laurell K. Hamilton is getting better with each book, and she deserves to find a wider audience. A Caress of Twilight just pushes the envelope of her talent a little further. Highly recommended.

Summary: When is the next book?
Review: I had a hard time putting this one down. Ms. Hamilton has outdone herself with the newest edition to her new series. As a die-hard Anita Blake fan, I was a little trepidatious about this new series. I was plesantly surprised and continue to be so. I can't wait for the next book.

Summary: Faerie princess's get kick[s]
Review: For those of you that are die-hard fans of Laurell K. Hamilton, this one doesn't disappoint. While it has less of the sub-plot twists and sudden pop-up turns of the previous Merry Gentry book, A Kiss of Shadows, this is still a great book with more fleshing of previous characters, introduction of new characters that are sure to pop up in later books, and a rousing good time that can be found in all of Laurell's books. Not quite as twisty-turny-interesting and can't-wait-to-see-what-she-throws-the-heroine-next as her Anita Blake series, but still an 'A' quality novel with tons of potential for her next books in this series.

Summary: Hard to choose!!!
Review: Once again LKH has done it...not that there was any doubt though. I don't know which I liked more, this one or the first. One thing they both contained was the knack to survive...which I really liked. Merry and her boys are hell bent on one thing and that is keeping Merry alive...well okay two. The other is making her with child. Just as there was in the first, there is action, betrayal, romance, alliances, growing and development and tons of lust. Things that made me sit on the edge of my seat in the first one were quenched in this one and now I have new thirst and anticipations. If you liked the first you will like the development in this one was well. The only thing bad I can say was that it ended a little to easily, some parts seemed a little rushed and it wasn't long enough.

A new ... boyfriend, deal, power, enemy, ally, place. An old enemy returns and so does Mommy Dearest. Who is Maeve Reed? A movie star and much more, much much more. More sex with surprising twists. Deals that work with future entanglements and deals that fail with immediate problems. Questions left unanswered abound, including what are symbolized by crystal and mist? Who will it be?
