Summary: Excellent - want more
Review: After a long while of nothing in the way of Shannara, Terry Brooks has revived the dearly loved series. His new series begins 130 years after "The Talismans of Shannara" left off with Coll and Par Ohmsford. Now a castaway from a previous voyage to discover lost magic has arrived in the mainland 30 years after his departure. With the castaway is a map chronicolling his journey. The druid, Walker Boh, now known just as Walker, undertakes the perilous journey with an elite few aboard the sleek airship named the "Jerle Shannara."

This book is an excellent revival of the old series and I couldn't put it down for 2 days until finished. One problem is the author failes to make some of the main characters appealing but this is forgiven because of the outstanding storyline and mood throughout the book. You will be doing yourself a favor getting this, but make sure you have plenty of free time because you will call off previous engagements in favor of this book.

The one true problem is that the book leaves the reader so badly hanging that he is afraid he will fall.

Summary: AweSomE Book
Review: HeY this book wAs just awesome!! good content, but the only reason its missing a star is because it was focused to much on one thing that was happening, i like books that has a lot of thoughtful instincts and stuff otherwise it was a pretty cool book, big enough, detailed enough, cost a lot of money for me thoughto bad paperbacks dont come out first!!!!!

Summary: A good return
Review: The first fantasy book I ever read was the Sword of Shannara. I owe Terry Brooks a great debt for contributing to the growth of an only childs imagination.

This book is a return to the world of Shannara after Brooks spend many years writing the fantastic (7 stars) Word and the Void series. This book is the start of a trilogy (I'm guessing) and introduces a number of compelling characters. Expect a healthy dose of Highlanders, Elves, Dwarves, magic, and a new part of the Shannara world.

A very fine return. Keep them coming, Terry!

Summary: Shannara Revisited
Review: I am a huge fan of the Shannara Series and was terribly excited to learn that a new series was in the works. Upon completion of the first chapter of the book, I was already rivited. This book contains the same level of characters and is true to the Shannara series in that it sets the stage for other volumes to follow. While I was impressed by the plot, I was slightly disappointed in the conflicts that are critical for this type of book. The story lacks confrontations that are expected and I can only hope that the next books in the series continue to escalate in the number of clashes between good and evil as well as continue the original context of the Shannara books.

Overall I know that anyone who has read any of the Shannara books will love this one as well, however, it has left a void that must be filled in the next book in the series. I do hope that the next installment will be published soon, so that the level of intensity will increase to the former level of the Shannara series.

Summary: Another Masterpeice
Review: Ilse Witch is simply put, another masterpeice. Even after 9 books in the series, Terry Brooks still manages to make it fresh, new, and exciting. It contains all of the elements that made the rest of the series such a success, but adds its own unique twist. The exploration type setting reminds me of the Sword of Shannara in the fact that a new world is being opened up and explored. The Shannara series has always been my favorite of Brooks' worlds and I am thrilled that he is returning to it again. I HIGHLY recommend "The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara: Ilse Witch" to any fans of the Shannara series or anyone who enjoys fantasy in general.

Summary: Great new tale of Shannara
Review: This is one of the best Shannara books that I have ever read. This new book starts out 100 years after the last Shannara book left off, and is a great read. The books starts out with Walker, one of the characters from the last book, but also has other new characters, new villians, and a completly new quest as they undertake a search for lost magic. This book is everything that a Shannara novel is, with magic swords and an epic quest and fights against evil, and it completly surpassed all my expectations of it!

Summary: The magic is still there
Review:

Hunter Predd, on his Roc Obsidian, was patrolling near Wing House when he notices a man clinging to a piece of wood in the raging waters. He rescues the man who barely survives. He takes the man to a healer, but hides the map and bracelet the victim carried. He takes them to the Elf King Allordon Elessedil who recognizes the bracelet as that worn by his brother when last seen thirty years ago. Allordon's sibling searched for valuable treasure using the now missing Elfstones of Shannara.

Allordon summons Walker, the last Druid, to visit him though they have not talked to one another in years. Upon learning what Allordon knows, Walker realizes the importance of the treasure as a powerful magical tool that could change the world order. They agree to form a team to find the treasure even as though Walker knows that his greatest enemy, the Witch Isle, watches them to gain possession for herself.

Twenty-three years have passed since the release of the exciting THE SWORD OF SHANNARA. That world and the environs of THE VOYAGE OF JERLE SHANNARA: ILSE WITCH are quite different. However, both books and the many in between share in common the writer's ability to make that imaginary world seem real. This epic fantasy is filled with brilliant characters, an enthralling story line, and an urge that leaves the audience obsessing for the next two novels in the latest trilogy. Terry Brooks remains a master storyteller who makes the unbelieveable seem genuine.

Summary: JUST FINISHED IT!, IT'S A MUST BUY!
Review: I won't reveal any of the secrets of the book, but I have to say its Brook's best work yet. If you don't have it, go buy it, NOW! I just finished it, and the ending is magnificent. Can't wait for the next book.

Summary: He's BACK!
Review: After some pleasant detours through The Word and The Void, and an entertaining prequel of how it all began, Terry brings the Four Lands and her people back to vibrant life! If you thought Shannara was "dead" or "worn-out", think again. The strengths of the previous books, (character development and relationships, the puppeteer-like machinations of the Druid(s), and... magic!) are woven together even stronger here than before, while much of the rambling descriptions that could try the reader's patience have been tightened. The pace is much more even, with the "privileged", Druid's-eye information being doled out in smaller, more frequent doses, rather than the large "dumps" that I felt marked the earlier books. The plot, while unresolved here, seems as if it is going to resolve in a more complex fashion than the "small group finds magical object, defeats impossible odds and saves the world" endings we're used to. Thumbs up on what I think is Terry's strongest effort to date!

Summary: excellent read
Review: I'm really excited that Brooks wrote this new book. I bought it on Sept. 5 and read it in one day. I really enjoyed reading about Walker and having the Druid's insite in one of the novels, and getting to find out the history between this time and where the Scions series left off. The sad thing, as always, all the old characters are dead and gone. The only thing that I could wish otherwise: Brooks has a tendency to get a slow start on any series, so the readers find the problem, and get to see the beginning of the journey. Most of Ilse Witch is dedicated to the preparations for the journey. Necessary I suppose, and still interesting despite my wish to find out what happens next. And the book is a cliff-hanger!!!!!!!
