Summary: nice character development... plot development not the best
Review: I purchased the book and in my usual habit completed it in a day and a half. The characters seem to be the same characters from previous books in the Shannara series with new names and slightly different looks. The problems faced by Walker in Ilse Witch are by the characters own statement "easily bypassed". In previous series Terry Brooks has managed to make first books in a series somewhat more interesting with greater conflicts to be solved. The conflicts faced by Walker don't have enough of the "evil creation" attitude about them. I see Ilse With as a set-up book for the rest of the series though and hope for much better in the remaining books... unfortunately it seems I'll have to wait a year or so to find out. As a devoted fan of the Shannara books I'm terribly disappointed in Ilse Witch. Had some greater confrontation occured during the book I'd be much more impressed.

Summary: Brooks is back with a vengance
Review: I have been a Terry Brooks fan since "Sword of Shanara" and have enjoyed most of them except his departure in the "Word" books. I have anxiously awaiting his return to either Shanara or Landover. I hoped that his darker departure wouldn't mark a trend in that direction. I was plesandly surprised to see that he has returned to his roots with a very enjoyable start to a new series.

If you are a fan I think you will like this book. If you have not read one of his previous books this would be a good introduction. Then if you like it you can go back and learn of the beginnings of the characters and items mentioned.

Summary: Excellent Book
Review: I'm not going to say much, but I'll just say this is an excellent book. The characters are wonderful, the villian is cool. It is definitly worth the price. Can't wait tell the next one.

Summary: 1/3 the story of the old Shannara
Review: Any Shannara fan will love this book. If you remember the Shannara books were always complete stories. However, Brooks decided to milk us, seems this is to be a trilogy or something.

Summary: mediocre but entertaining
Review: while not brook's best work, if you're looking for classic adventure, this book is entertaining. intrigue, mystery and action are deftly combined with a cast of interesting characters. for more complexity and thicker plot schemes check our george martin or john marco.

Summary: Weak.
Review: I am a fan of Terry Brooks but this was very disappointing. Maybe its because I just finished a Storm of Swords by George R. R. Martin which is 10 stars.

Summary: And he does it again!
Review: Terry Brooks does it again with this awesome start to a new series. Adding to the already great Shannara series, this book has it all: the mysterious druid leading on the expidition into unknown realms, a wide range of characters from each of the races to accompany him, and of course, the amazing plot twists and awesome character development. Obviously another spectacular book by the great Mr. Brooks!

Summary: Excellent
Review: I just want to say that this is great way to continue the Shannara Saga. I've been hoping that we would see the return of Walker Boh for some time and now we finally have it. So if your a fan of the Shannara Saga or a new reader of the Saga you must get this book!!!

Summary: good, solid story
Review: Terry Brooks is always good for a solid story, and his latest Shannara book is right on the money. The story works very well, and the plot develops at a good pace. The cliff hanger at the end will leave you hoping Brooks writes the second book fast. The story is somewhat predictable. For example, anyone who has read the previous Shannara series and is paying attention will be able to figure out both who the Ilse Witch is and who Bek Rowe must be. However, this does not detract at all from the story, becuase its the how and why of these characters - how the Ilse Witch came to be who she is, and why she hates Walker so much - that keeps you interested. Another good tale from Mr. Brooks!!

Summary: Non-stop drama and incredible action
Review: Amazing. There are few books that hold your interest throughout the entire story, but Terry has certainly accomplished that with THE ISLE WITCH. I could NOT put this book down! And when I had to put it down (one has to EAT, I suppose) I couldn't wait to get back to it. The story moves quickly and the characters are colorful and engaging, each with his own story to tell and problems to overcome. The plot is incredible ... it kept me guessing and wondering at every turn - the revelations and hidden agendas ... the mystery and the magic ... THE ISLE WITCH is a combination of murder mystery, drama, fantasy, sci-fi, and more! Mark my words, by the last page you will be desperate for more! Terry has pulled out all the stops with this new series in the Shannara universe. Until now, my favorite has always been the first book, SWORD OF SHANNARA. But THE ISLE WITCH (and the upcoming books in the VOYAGE series) will prove to be my new favorites by far.
