Summary: Best Book I Have Ever Read
Review: This is the best book (and group of books) I have ever read. Period. No question about it. I've read hundreds and hundreds of books and this one stands out the most - by far. You do not have to like Sci Fi or Fantasy to fall in love with this book. It is fantastic that they finally put it all together into one binder.

Summary: Get this book
Review: This are all the books of the Amber tale.
You get exellent fiction writing in a small enough package and if you are into RPG you will love the way the tale is told.
All the Zelazny books are good but this is great.

Summary: A Must Read!!!
Review: After first listening to the audio tapes, I had to read this series. A must read for anyone who likes fantasy or simply enjoys a well written story.

Summary: excelent book!
Review: The amber chronicles 1-10 are an excellent read! i picked up trumps of doom (book 5 i believe) in audio format for a 10 hour drive, and i was hooked. I went out and bought the complete set as soon as i could.
The plot is original and the world crafted with such intricacy that you will begin to analyze the world around you to see if it is real, or just a shadow of Amber.
This books is a welcome reprieve from the cookbook fantasy out there today. Zelazny will leave you thirsting for more.

Summary: I never thought I'd be so amazed
Review: The first time I read these novels, having already been an avid bookworm all my life and coming from a background rich with fantasy authors (Tolkien, Brooks, Piers Anthony, to name a few), I was utterly amazed. I simply could not believe one person could keep all of this in his head, and keep it all straight. I'd say more, but that would be ruining it, wouldn't it?
In re-reading, after some time, although the amazement has faded, the awe remains. This is a work of fiction for the ages.

Summary: and you're hooked!
Review: This is one of those wonderful fantasy worlds that will not let you stop reading at the end of the chapter. Every time you say to yourself "I'll stop reading when I get to the end of this chapter... " something else happens and you are mentally forced to continue reading! It's wonderful.. it's great.. and for those old-time mudders, you'll actually get to see where trumps originated. :)

Enjoy, I can't recommend it enough.

Summary: A fantasy MUST-READ
Review: I'll be brief on this one. Buy this and read it. If it were possible for me to lend you all my copy, I would. . . but once you're done, you'll want a copy of your own.

Considered Zelazny's greatest work, the Amber novels stand out against the greater SciFi/Fantasy universe. In the first novel, Nine Princes in Amber, Zelazny does an amazing job of characterization, starting his protagonist (Corwin) off with near-complete amnesia and following him as he plays detective to himself, working only with a deep-seated suspicion of everyone around him (especially family) and an indomitable will to survive. Corwin matures throughout the next four novels, until he is a very different man by the time he must save the fabric of existence.

If you like swordfighting, and a lot of action, you'll love the Amber Chronicles. If you like philosophical digression and mysteries, you'll love the Amber Chronicles. If you like anti-hero cowboys like Han Solo and Clint Eastwood, you'll love Corwin. . . and his son Merlin, hero of the second five novels, all in this book.

Summary: Zelazny is the greatest!!
Review: This is fasinating to the extreme. Prince Corwin of Amber leads you through the first half of the book: mystery, suspence, drama, medieval fantasy, and science fiction. This is an adventure that won't stop until you hit the end. The book stops with Corwin's point of view halfway and starts with Prince Merlin of Chaos, the duke of Kolvir. A thrill ride to the end, I recommend this book to anyoune who is into the fantastical side of fiction writings. This book is begging for a sequel!!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A must for all Sci Fi fans
Review: This is one of the all time classic sci fi series! The Corwin books absolutely rock! He's an interesting charachter, and the plot twists are great. These books were written in the 70's and much of the slang is very dated, but that adds to the charm of it. If you have trouble keeping all of the siblings straight (I did) pick up the Amber Castel guide as a referance tool.

The Merlin books are good, but could have been a few hundred pages shorter. The Corwin saga built towards the finale in Courts of Chaos, but the next 5 books just kind of myandered along. Merlin was a cool charachter, and the stories were decent, but they paled in comparrison to the Corwin books.

This was ground breaking stuff and it's had tremendous impact on the sci fi world.

Summary: It doesn't end
Review: I apparently have to disagree with most of the folks here. I just had to finish it to prove something to myself.. and I proved I was an idiot. I found the concept somewhat interesting.. but never felt like the main character was really in any danger.. whenever he was.. poof.. magic.. he was free and on his way. The stories.. 1-10.. were the same concept done again and again. In the end.. I didn't care about much.. just how many pages I had left before I could put it away.
