Rating: Summary: sucked me right in Review: I Just finnished reading this series's 3 books start to finnish. I couldnt put them down. It is definatly the sign of a good series when at the end I crave for more. I dont give give 5 stars very often in my reviews but this series deserves it.
Rating: Summary: I loved it! An extremely well written masterpiece by Hobb! Review: This is a masterpiece of high fantasy! I highly reccomend it
Rating: Summary: A fabulous beginning to a fantastic trilogy! Review: This book really suprised me. I thought that this would be a fairly boring book based on the lack of creativity on the book's name. (Robin Hobb could probably have come up with a better name than Assassin's Apprentice!) The book turned out to have extremely complex characters with a mesmerizing plot. The book had a few flaws(a couple of things weren't all that clear) but all in all the book was a winner. I'd put Robin Hobb on the level of Tolkein, Goodkind, and Jordan(my three favorite authors)!
Rating: Summary: LOVED THIS SERIES, ONE OF THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: I loved this series, it ranks up with Maggie Furey's Aurian series. There are many things I liked about this series, including the definition of magic (very important to me), the action, and Fitz's job and motivations. The diversity of the charachters is a great additive also.
Rating: Summary: GREAT TRILOGY!! Review: I read this book and immediately bought the other two. This was a fantastic effort from Robin Hobb. THe writing will have you actually feeling for the characters! The only books I enjoyed more were Zelasny's Amber series...Assassin is a VERY close second. I can't recommend this more!!
Rating: Summary: AMAZING! Review: THIS WRITER HAS THE ABILITY TO TAKE A THRONE BESIDE TOLKIEN---AND KEEP IT
Rating: Summary: The first book I actually finished Review: I love to read but can never seem to find a book that I like. This book was the first; I read it in a week. Couldn't wait for the sequel. I loved that it was in first person. I felt like I was fitz living his life. When I sat down to read I shut the world out, it was like for a short time I entered another world far away. The Farseer triliogy is the best I have ever read.
Rating: Summary: Assassin's Apprentice Review: This the first book in the Farseer triology is brilliant. The setting is lethal with potential for both intrigue, and fantastic battles. The book might seem weird at first to some people, but as it continues, the plot becomes clear, and the inticement begins. A book that will change your mind, as well as your reading habbits, as it is the shortest book in the triology. Read it NOW!!!
Rating: Summary: From interesting to frustrating to just plain annoying Review: The trilogy started well enough with an original premise and a brisk plotline, but it degenerated quickly as the protagonist's dumb luck ran out and his own bloody-mindedness began to shine through. No matter how dark the world, no matter how gut-wrenching the quest, I can still root for the hero and I can still enjoy the story so long as the hero actually makes SOME sort of progress. Is that even remotely possible here? No way, no how. No matter how -physically- skilled he may be, Fitz (the hero) is still just a stupid, obsessive, petulant brat from start to finish. He never beats the odds and he never wins through, and it's his own damn fault every step of the way. For crying out loud, I as the reader should never have to be so much more intelligent and aware than the protagonist. It just makes the whole experience obscenely annoying and frustrating. Then why did I keep reading, you may ask. Because as so many others here have said, there is a certain morbid fascination that keeps your attention once you've started. Do yourself a favor, though, and don't even start...
Rating: Summary: This is a very good book. Review: This has to be one of the best books ever written. I have read alot of Fantasy novels, and most of them don't come close to this book or its trilogy. I would recommend this to anyone who likes books by authors such as Raymond Feist, Anne McCaffrey, and David Eddings. Robin Hobb is a very talented author. This book shows people a unique approach to fantasy, and it is a very good change.
