Rating: Summary: loved it, but. . . Review: I loved this book, I think it's one of the best books ever written. I'm confused though, alot of people are saying it's bad, and all this stuff about politics,I'm 13, and maybe I'm living in the wrong area, or I just miss stuff like this, but no one my age pays attation to politics, so I was wondering, how old are you guys?
Rating: Summary: The best since the Wheel of Time Review: This was the best book I have read in a long time. This series is second only to the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. You really care about the characters. This is because bad things happen to them. I tend to feel more strongly for characters who have to overcome challanges and sadness than ones who are flawless. Overall this was undoubtably the best book I have read recently.
Rating: Summary: Good But Not Great Review: It's hard to say much beyond the "Booklist" synopsis: This reads like a first effort and only rises above the standard fantasy fare in the quality of it's writing and characterization. Having come to this book from Hobb's later "Ship of Magic," I must admit to being somewhat disappointed. The storyline lacks the focus of the later work, nor does the characterization and world building have the same degree of depth. However, as this is a first work, the tale being better written than most, and I have the later work as an example of what the writer is capable of, I will continue on to read the second book of the "Farseer Trilogy" with expectation that it will improve with the telling.
Rating: Summary: beliveable fantasy making you want more. Review: A child of royal blood is fathered by a king, but the mother is not the queen, hence the word he would live by(bastard). His name is Fitz,he goes through a rough time growing up but with the help of a man nammed Burrich who promised his father he would look after the boy, Fitz manages to stay alive after several attemps on his life. There are too many highs of this book for me to give a proper feel without fumbleing the story, all I can say is I give this book 5 solid stars, highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: What I had been looking for... Review: I have to admit that I have not read many fantasy books in my life. Yet that is only because I felt that no book could match up to the "The Lord of the Rings." The Farseer Trilogy is very enjoyable. As you work your way through these three books, you will begin to feel with their main characters, particularly Fitz Chivalry. I'm almost done with the third volume, and have started pacing myself a while ago. It's one of those stories that you don't want to end...
Rating: Summary: A Book That Glues You to it. Review: I love this book- I honestly do. I hate the series, but I love this book. Even though I was cursing at Fitz and calling him names for his stupidity and niaveness, I was captivated. I swear,I spent a max of 12hrs a day trying to finish this series.I slept at 3:00am every day because I had to find out what was going to happen next. The tone of this book is melancholy and depressing, and Fitz the Royal Bastard constantly complains of aloneness. Yet the characters are so alive and real. This is probably the best book in the Farseer triology. Trust me. Oh yeah, and I gotta mention this: the cover is by Michael Whelan; he draws the coolest covers. Notice the cover of the 3rd book in the series is ugly as hell-cuz Mike didn't draw it. Happy reading.
Rating: Summary: absolutely amazing Review: This series is the best that I have ever read. The story is excellently written with a great plot. These are the first books I have read that portray assassins as anything other than bloodthirsty. Original and amazing. If stars went any higher, I would give the books maximum rating.
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: I thought that this was a great book! A few people have said that the ending was bad, but I thought it was a cliff hanger ending. You had to know what happened in the next book.
Rating: Summary: A compelling and elaborate tale with in depth characters. Review: This series is brilliant. It takes medival feudalisim and throws in the fantasy element which unlike other tales of its kind, remains subtle and mysterious. The characters are deep and well described even if one shows up for a scene, you'll have an image of him wedged into your head, including all mannerisims and style of speech. This truly is a series to own and read. (I am currently reading it again)
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Highly Recommended! Review: The best fantasy book I've read since A Clash of Kings. I am looking forward to the remainder of this series.
