Summary: Enough meandering
Review: Terry Goodkind really broke away from his story line on this one. For the first 200 pages I kept waiting for his main characters to appear and the story to start but it didn't happen until the last 20 pages. Disapointing. It felt as if he lost interest in the Sword of Truth line and decided to try something new. It didn't work.

Summary: I liked it
Review: As everyone else has already stated, I was a little disapointed that we dont get to see Richard and Kahlan as much. But besides that fact I had a hard time putting the book down. I liked how it tied in to the main plot with stuff about the war. A lot of people say it didnt flow with the rest of the books but I disagree I thought it flowed well.

Overall Im rating it a 4 out of 5 because of the lack of the main characters but I still recommend it as a good read.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: I have to agree with one of the previous reviewers. While Mr. Goodkind normally does a great job of developing characters, this was far short of his previous efforts.

Although he sets the stage for his next novel, he doesn't work the introduction of the new character into the greater storyline, and tried to do too much with the new character too soon. He took 6 books to develop his lead characters, and it felt like he was trying to repeat that in a few hundred pages. It felt rushed, it felt disconnected, and there were too many holes for it to fit into the series.

Summary: Disapponting
Review: I have to agree with the majority of reviewers who sounded disappointed with this book. I read the publisher's blurbs and read the book jacket beofre reading the book. After the first hundred pages or so, i went back to the jacket thinking I had missed something. Wasn't this supposed to be about Richard and Kahlan being pursued, etc? Maybe I wouldn't be so disappointed if I didn't feel like the readers were misled. Why not come out and say that this is a story focusing on characters other than Richard and Kahlan? Maybe the publisher realized if the truth about the focus of this book were identified up front, people would hesitate to spend the money on the hardback. Bottom line for me is that this was one more disappointment in this series that started out so well. I think buying used in the future is what's in order.

Summary: Waste of Time
Review: It's hard for me to write a bad review for Terry Goodkind, considering how much I've enjoyed all the other books in the Sword of Truth series, but I have to be honest here: this book is terrible. All it accomplishes is to introduce a new character to the story. I understand the importance this character may end up having to the story as a whole, but this book alone is simply 500 pages of character development; that's all. The ending is not worth the effort of reading this book. I read this book as fast as I could, just to get it over and done with. I found myself speed reading through chapters, in my mind saying "Yeah, yeah, get on with it", and I never do that for books I enjoy. And I enjoyed all his previous books immensely.

All I can say is that you will not enjoy reading this book, no matter how much you enjoyed his previous books. My personal opinion is that someone should just write a summary of the book, and post it on the web somewhere for the Sword of Truth fans to read, to spare them the agony of this book. In just one page, I could write a summary of this entire novel, and you would know everything you needed to know to be able to continue on to the next book that comes out.

Basically, this book is 500+ pages of character development, followed by 32 pages of enjoyable reading at the end. I never thought I'd say something negative about Terry Goodkind, but there it is. Anyone on here giving positive reviews for the book has either not read it at all, or is just flat out lying.

Summary: What have you done TERRY
Review: Terry, you destroyed my waiting of a year for THIS. This is the worst book yet. It totally squashes all the giddy feelin I had when I got it and started reading like a starving man. I loved Terry's work in SOT series and I think that this series is one of the best I have read in my life...BUT please Terry, don't kill it with books like this las t one.......don't start out like Robert Jordan.

Summary: Why do you read books....
Review: Welp, I guess I'll answer my question first. I read books because they entertain me. This was a VERY entertaining book, just because he didn't go over every little detail about what Richard and Kahlan did DOES NOT mean that the story had no progression. Here is some spoiler info so don't read on if you don't want to know.

Did we know what Nathan was up to since the last book?
He obviously has been a little busy wouldn't you say...being at the peoples palace and all.
Jagang just lost a huge portion of his army including numerous sisters of the light(Dark too), not to mention good ole Sebby.
Richard now has a sister with him that is IMMUNE to magic....not just immune but magic just really doesn't exist in direct connection with her. hmmm is it me or does that sound like it means nothing for the story?
Granted I think Faith of the Fallen was a spectacular piece and better read, but this book was excellent as well.

Summary: This book is a hole in the series
Review: Do not buy this book in hardback!!!!
I have read everything he has written and have enjoyed every word and have waited year after year for each edition, and when I read this book it was nothing more than a let down. The characters are not likable or intersting, the plot is weak, and it was only my respect for his past writings that I kept on turning the page. Our beloved characters and reoccuring themes (Wizard Rule #7) are written in a flat and baffoonish manner, they are a punchline, making this book a 500+ page joke. The ending was similar to an ending out of Threes Company or some other cheap comedy in which a lame joke is told, the cheap music starts, and the credits roll.

Summary: Not worth the money for the hardcover
Review: Richard and Kahlen don't show up till the last 50 pages. If this had been the first book in the series it might have been ok. Since, however, it is the seventh book I have a lot of trouble with the two main characters not showing up till the last 50 pages. He spent to the whole book developing two in my opinion un-likabale(word??) characters without weaving the ones we like into until the very end.
While Jordan rambles at least he keeps the story somewhat focused around alot of the orginal characters to introduce new ones at this point and focus the whole book on them seems flawed at best.

Summary: Pillars of Creation a compaion book to the sowrd of truth no
Review: Hey for 30 bucks, you could have bought a hell of a lot more fire wood. It would have been more enteraning watching the book burn then reading it.

Oh well, The bio of the book is very misleading.

The book should have been called Pillars of Creation a compaion book to the sowrd of truth novels.

If you read the book keeping in mind thats this is a compaion book you will be a lot more happy with the book.
