Summary: Ah, that waky facist is at it again
Review: Well, if truth be told this book didn't offend my political sensabilities as much as his last two did but that was mostly because he spent all his time writing down his own graphic rape fantasies. I'm not a psych major or anything but I know enough to realize that this man has some serious issues he needs to deal with, about women and other things. I strongly reccomend he seek proffesional help. Also on a related note if anyone was doubting how far right this loon is then just take a look at the dedication...
"Dedicated to the people of the United States Intelligence Community who, for decades have valiantly fought to preserve life and liberty, while being ridiculed, condemned, demonized and shackled by the jackals of evil." Now eith Mr. Goodkind is either profoundly ignorant of the facts about organizations like the CIA or he is only talking about the freedom of Americans, and even that would have to be questioned given the language of the statement. Frankly if deposing legitimantly elected governments and proping up brutal dictators is the sort of behavior we should applaud then I would proudly call my myself a 'jackal of evil.'

The book itself is an entertaining waste of a few hours, but I strongly reccomend you go with George R.R. Martin instead. TG is not even in his league. Read A Game of Thrones and you'll see right away. If your desperate to read this book, then borrow it from a library or friend or steal it or something. This scumbag really doesn't deserve your money.

Summary: Least Impressive of the Series
Review: Goodkind is one of my favorite writers, but even good writers write bad books, and, in my humble opinion, POC is a bad book. Only some of my beef comes from being mislead into believing that this entry into the series dealt with Richard et al; however, the majority of my criticism stems from one thing: the book is boring. We are introduced to a few new characters who really never come to life, they just sort of plod through the story. Granted, it was nice to get to see another side of the Goodkind world, but for 500+ pages not much happens. I also felt the ending was too rushed. It was like Goodkind said: "oops, I've written 500 pages here, I better wrap this puppy up." I also felt the villian and his troops were dispensed with too easily. Why was it so easy to cause this much damage to the troops when in previous novels it took a great deal of effort. It seems like even Goodkind may be getting tired of the story line as well. Even though the book was written well, it went nowhere, the story was a take-it-or-leave-it, and the ending was rushed. Overall, a VERY big disappointment. I read an interview with Goodkind that said he wanted to write a book that someone new to the series could understand without having read the others in the series. Well, in my opinion, it didn't work. If I had not read the previous 6 volumes, I would have been totally lost. Further, if this was my first Goodkind book, I might not well read another. Come on, Terry, let's get back to basics and write something on par with Wizard's First Rule or Stone of Tears. Also, if you decide to write something "within the realm of" the Sword of Truth, have your publisher label it as such.

Summary: The Pillars of Creation
Review: After waiting for the book to be published,I was very disapointed after reading it.The story line was dropped.I hope this is a transitional book to bring in new characters to extend the enjoyment that I had from the first six books..The book only made vauge references to the main characters of the other 6 novels.Who are these people that have been introduced?Terry Goodkind have you lost your way as Robert Jordan has in his many book saga? Please refocus in the next book and reintroduce us to the characters from the first books let them interact with these new people.

Review: Is it just me or does the large rock formation on the cover look like a big male body part?

Summary: *sigh* Another series destroyed?
Review: I, like most of the other reviewers, bought the first few Sword of Truth novels and thoroughly enjoyed the rich fantasy world and the character of Richard. However, things have most certainly taken a turn for the worst in this last few books. Soul of the Fire for the most part had nothing to do with Richard, Faith of the Fallen had little to nothing to do with the main story of the series and was more of a comment on Terry Goodkind's political views than a fantasy novel.

And then we have this, The Pillars of Creation. This is NOT a Sword of Truth novel. It has barely anything to do with anything. Oh, sure, by the end we can see that Richard has gained another ally and all is well, but surely this could have been done in 50 pages or so, allowing us to explore the battle between Richard and Jagang NOW instead of a year from now in the next book? But no, we are forced to sit through pages and pages of tedium over characters which frankly I care little for.

Disappointing in the extreme.

Summary: What Happened?
Review: I looked forward to each installment of this series with great anticipation and was never disappointed. After finishing this book, I am worried that the well has run dry. It is very disturbing when the main characters from the earlier books, COLLECTIVELY, appear in less than 10 percent of the book. Yikes!

I am hoping that this book was a necessary interlude to set up the future of the series. If not, it will be the disappointing end of what has been a very good fantasy saga.

Summary: Self-indulgent and slow
Review: Goodkind has fallen into a trap set by the Keeper (and now shares the fate of his fellow sellout Robert Jordan) and worships the almighty dollar. Just like the last installment in this series, there is perhaps 50 pages of text featuring Richard and Kahlan, the protaganists of the series. Instead, we are left with a slowwwwwly unfolding story of two new characters, neither of whom is "gifted" and neither of whom is interesting. May Goodkind find the strength and resolve to either resume the storyline or conclude this farce. Tolkien and others had the courage to end their stories without meangingless excursions and tangents. Check this one out of the library if you must and save your dollars.

Summary: Different angle; worth a read.
Review: Mr. Goodkind has written another fine novel in his Sword of the Truth series. While shorter than the previous books, it doesn't forget to tell a story (unlike Mr. Robert Jordan who seems to like to confuse his readers with endless subplots and similar charater names.) The primary characters in the book are new to the series and act as a piece of the puzzle Goodkind is building for us as readers. I did find some of the outcomes predictable but there were enough twists to keep my interest. The book is worth a read because you do get to see more of the world created in the previous books. Its length makes it a short but good chapter in the tale of Richard Rahl.

Review: Knowing that this book was a side story, and had little of Richard and Kahlan, enabled me to enjoy it fully!

Summary: Sword of Truth Series???
Review: I thought I was purchasing a book from the Sword of Truth series. Funny how it was barely mentioned and the main characters are on the outside looking in for most of the story. If Terry would like to branch out into other characters I would recommend him to pursue other short stories like the "Debt of Bones" that chronicled Zedd's early years (which I recommend!). I have been a rabid fan since discovering this series and have found this edition to be a huge disappointment. This IS a Sword of Truth Series book, right?
