Rating: Summary: RJ you, and your publisher, are greedy! Review: When I began this series I was excited to find such a well written story - even the idea that it was a series was ok, even a positive thing - but enough is enough. My main gripe is that the author/publisher LED THE READER/BUYER TO BELIEVE that book 4, or maybe 5, was going to end it! but we were misled - deceived - lied to! For the most part I have enjoyed the series - but I will never read another RJ series again. I am tired of being soaked for cash. Robert Jordan, Inc., is only interested in your money $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.HOW DISAPPOINTING!
Rating: Summary: It keeps going and going and going.... Review: The latest installment of the "Energizer Bunny" of all fantasy series leaves the reader with only one question: Whattya mean this ain't the end?!?! Eight books? With two more before it's finished? Not that length is an issue, but good grief! You can take the last three novels, rip out the first 800 pages, read the last 200 and be at no loss for where the story is going! This series is suffering from the "I just realized how much money I can make off of royalties" syndrome. If you were like me and got caught up in the first three books of the series (which I still think is some of the best fantasy I've ever read), then this book is worth purchasing, if only to march on toward Tarmon Gi'Adien, or however the hell you pronounce it. If he can provide us with 800 pages of prehappening drivel, then what would be so hard about a glossary on how to pronounce half of the characters? Maybe he'll publish another book on just that... This novel is definately on my, better borrowed than purchased list.
Rating: Summary: Wretched... Review: To begin, the above star rating should be read as negative infinity. This book was a piece of crap. I was impressed when Jordan began this series. I was thoroughly impressed because of the magnitude, depth and sheer power of this epic-to-be. As the series wore on I grew more and more impressed until I chanced upon the Lord of Chaos, which was diminishing. Crown of Swords got worse and I am not sure the ninth book can be any worse than this on (but you never know). Mr. Jordan, if you read this, I beseach you to finish the story in a maximum of TWO books...or risk destroying this series.
Rating: Summary: A boring book from a good series Review: I do not usually post reviews, but I felt obligated because Path of Daggers had an average review too high in my opinion. If you take this book as a single entity it really isn't worth reading; but if you have read so far in the Wheel of Time series, then read it and hope that the next books will be a lot better.
Rating: Summary: Keep it moving Review: I happen to like books that never end, but I also like it when the plot GOES SOMEWHERE. Mr. Jordan's only current failing is that he neglected to progress the storyline.
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your money! Review: This book is garbage. Jordan is a horrible writer and this book proves it. I have read the whole series over the course of the past decade, but no more. If you like fantasy, check out Eddings, Martin, McCaffrey, Anthony, or any one of a number of new authors. You don't need to read this series, there is so much better out there.
Rating: Summary: "A PATH OF DAGGERS" IS, SADLY, NOTHING MORE THAN A PROLOGUE. Review: I have always thought of Jordan as an artist who writes for the pleasure it brings to himself and to others. After reading "A Path of Daggers", I begin to doubt his commitment towards his fans. PoD is a startling disappointment. 75% of the book does not advance the plot, the reason being that most of the book is spent in petty, monotonous character development (if you can imagine an entire chapter devoted to Nynaeve's squabbling with the Knitting Circle). The book seems to only have more plotting and schemes but no ground-breaking events occur--as if Jordan meant this entire book to be nothing more than a prologue for his next book. Also, the disappointing number of dramatic events and the uninteresting climax subtracts from this book's value. This installment is just another "build-up" book for Jordan's series. IT MAKES ME WONDER IF MY FAVORITE AUTHOR, ROBERT JORDAN, IS UNDER A DARKER INFLUENCE THAN MONEY...
Rating: Summary: I want my money back Review: what started out as a promising series has turned into a money-making scam. the books have become progressively more empty and boring. a golf match has more action than this book. this will be the first series i won't get through, because i've totally lost interest in it. i dont plan on wasting money on 4 or 5 more books that probably still remain in this wreck of a series, and you shouldn't either. the book does have one useful quality, though: it's a great cure for insomnia.
Rating: Summary: BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: I have been reading the online reveiws and a lot of people are complaining. To those people who rated this book a two or less, I have a question to ask you. Why didn't you just put the book down if it was that ***damn awful?! But I'm not here to criticize other people's opinions, I'm here to tell Mr.Jordan that he wrote a very good book and he should write more if his heart intends. I personally loved the WOT series and will not stop reading it until it is truly over. Mr.Jordan, if you are reading this I want to tell you that I am an avid reader of your books and appreciate what you give to your fans; a book worth reading. Only one problem with the book. Mat. Mat is my most fave character, but he was barely mentioned. But it's all part of the masterplan. =) Thanks Mr.Jordan C.D.
