Summary: He's losing grasp of the storylines.
Review: This book is one of the weakest of the series. Jordan does not really advance any of the storylines. Even the Seanchan are barely in the book. We aren't any closer to ending this series. Jordan is now milking us for all of our money in that if we have read 8 books he knows we'll stick with it till the bitter end. I'm not so sure.

Summary: Jordan seems to be losing his balance
Review: One of the greates things about the WoT series has always been its superb balance if plot and action. PoD diverges from this sharply, it seems to be more of a setup book than anything else, the only problem with this is that when you have to wait a year or longer for each book, a slow methodical plot is less than satysfying. I have seen alot of comments about Mat's dissapearance, about that I just want to remind all of the WoT readers that the same thing happened to Perrin for a couple of books and he came back with a vengance

Summary: Robert Jordan is simply the best. He is the new Tolkien.
Review: How can you people critizise Jordan? He does not want to make money, that's why there is so much delay between each book : he take is time so as to write valuable books. It's right that a PoD is quite slow, but it is still a very good book. In 50 years, when RJ will be as famous as Tolkien, you'll be proud to remember that you were one of thouse who supported him from the very beginning...

Summary: Just very, very dissapointed
Review: I have been reading this "epic" since 1990 and have loved it. This book is by far the worst of the series. There are too many new characters being introduced, and none of them have an easily discernable name like Mary of Frank. It is impossible to keep them all straight. I have two pieces of advice for Mr. Jordan 1- Stop introducing 15 new characters in each chapter. Instead, why not use the novel approach of DEVELOPING THE CHARACTERS THAT YOU ALREADY HAVE. Matt, Perrin, Fain, Loial. These are great characters! USE THEM!!! 2-As has been stated ad naseum-GET ON WITH THE DAMN STORY. Hell, I wouldn't mind 5 more books if they moved the story along. The tripe that you are publishing now is, or at least should be, an embarrasment for both you and TOR.

I LOVED this series as much as anyone, but I will not buy another book until it has been favorably reviewed here.

Summary: I was waiting for this?
Review: I don't mind the wait between books if it is justified. This one was not. There are some out there that say to be patient, but that is not why I fell in love with this series. The first books in this series were awesome: the plot moved, there was fast-paced action, developed characters, and great battle & political descriptions. Where did it go? I hope he gets back on track for the next one, or I won't be waiting for 'The Last Battle'.

Summary: WARNING: This book contains dangerous amounts of drivel
Review: There is nothing I can really add to what has already been said about this shockingly horrible book. Ditto to every scathing review and I swear this book should have a warning label......

Summary: Better Than Most But Compared to Other WoT It Falls Short
Review: Everyone's a critic these days. Sure Path of Daggers was not near as good as RJ's previous WoT novels but it surpasses the majority of fantasy books I have read (and believe me, I have read LOTS of fantasy books). There are a number of things RJ could have done differently. For instance, Mat was barely mentioned and I was especially looking forward to reading about him. Also, Jordan has enough loose ends and storylines that the book could have been at least 600 pages longer than it was. However, Daggers was well written and as I said it was better than the majority of fantasy that is out there. For those of you who are becoming disenchanted, just wait, things will get better. Remember, the Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills.

Summary: Nice Pictures!!
Review: I'm sure I speak for most readers when I aver that the editors were wise not get one of those crappy old cliche' fantasy artists. Those pix always seem more surreal and richer than the story itself. The content of this book was a little weak, but I accept that it's just a reference, not the actual book. The excellent sketchings justify the price. For the real story, read the Jordan series -- he's become quite a wordsmith since he left professional basketball. Um, it is the same Jordan, right? Why, I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn he did the drawings himself!!

Summary: Money-grabbing, women-hating and plain BORING
Review: I surely have been one of Jordan's greatest fans, but even I have to admit that he has LOST it. Moreover, his editor and publisher are obviously so focused on short term profit that they daren't comment at all when an inferior manuscript is submitted. In fact, judging from the dust jacket text, they probably pushed Jordan to publish a half- written story. POD deals almost exclusively with women who have deteriorated from intelligent, active and interesting persons to immature childish morons with only two interests in life: Clothes styles and fabric, and their excessive desire to mentally abuse and physically hurt every woman in the vicinity. Never mind the last battle looming! It'a as if the book deals with the foreign legion's all-girl kindergarten on tour! Jordan keeps saying in interviews that he put something of his wife in every WOT female character. Why would he want to insult his wife like that? I could go on describing the shortcomings of POD, but read the other one-star reviews and you get the picture.... Reading the reviews was more fun than reading the book.

Summary: Needs some plot advancement...
Review: Look, I am a fan of Jordan, I love his WoT books. I usually love the length and pace of his books. But guys, this volume wasn't up to the level his other books were. The only plot advancement was that Nynaeve lost her block. Big deal. By the way, though, the size of the type is the publisher's fault, not Jordan's. To make the next volume better, I think Jordan needs to advance the plot to the things he says is going to happen. Make Mat marry the Seanchan Daughter of the Nine Moons(anyone else catch that little twist?) and make Cadsuane do whatever it is she's supposed to teach Rand. And have the two White Towers confront each other. I'm starting to get sick of all this build up. Just make something happen instead of pages of unconsequential detail. I don't care how long it takes. But stop whining about Mat, guys. Leavivg the readers hanging is a writing technique. But I want some more story and less talk!!!
