Summary: Come on people, see the sense in this!
Review: ok, a lot of people are saying this book is the worst of the series, and boring. Why? This is just as good as the others, and it leads the way for book 9 to be an -absolute stunner-. Egwene is about to attack Tar Valon (I really can't wait for that), Mat has (probably) been captured by the Seanchan, Faile has been taken by the Shaido and Perrin is gonna have a wolf battle with them (Elyas returning must have something to do with this), Rand is hopefully/probably found a way to cure the taint off saidin, The Black Ajah will be destroyed, and I've got a big feeling that Elayne is going discover Flying - it's talked about so much something has to happen. I mean, they were saying curing severing was impossible a lot, and that's exactly what's happening with flying. And hey, book 8 itself was excellent. You're telling me you didn't enjoy the bit at the beginning where Elayne unravelled the travelling weave? And you didn't find her 'stimulating' ter'angreal amusing? And what about Dashiva, that was a surprise wasn't it? And the Asha'man capturing the Red Aes Sedai? And Egwene showing up Romanda and Lelaine? I'm sorry, but if you thought that book was bad, you didn't read it properly. And who said CoS was bad? ::rolls his eyes:: Come on, Nynaeve losing her block was one of the best parts of the series, and Elayne putting down Merilille etc. Hey, RJ is -the- best author in the world, the only thing that comes close is Terry Goodkind's SoT series (lots of similarities), and what's this about Tolkien beating him? NO WAY!!

Summary: A so-so WoT book.
Review: PoD doesn't totally stink; it still has some interesting parts. The reading was kinda slow, though. Not as good as the previous WoT books.

Summary: It was a solid, basic book.
Review: Although most people think that Robert Jordan should be producing hit after hit after hit, its only natural for him to take a breather. The Path of Daggers is a good book, but compared to all the other masterpieces he has created, it seems insignificant. You must consider the amount of time he spends on the whole series, roughly putting out a book a year, plus the fact of several different books on the side. Taking this into consideration, you must also take in the emensly huge plot line and the amazing creativity of the over all story, and you realize that Robert Jordan can't be perfect all the time. To me, I enjoyed the book as much as the others

Summary: Jordan set up for a great B9... But will he finally get on ?
Review: I've read the entire book in two all-night sessions. It didn't really get boring, but I'm rather hard to bore, I have to admit :))

I don't think it's correct to say that there was NO plot development at all: Jordan in my opinion has managed to set things up for a DAZZLING book nine, whether or not he will be able to fullfill my expectations, the future will show...

But picture the situation at the moment: The Seanchan seem to be a little confused after their last encounter with Rand (where the imperfect Sa'Angreal, The Sword That Is No Sword, turned Rand's powers loose on anybody).

Amyrlin Egwene is about to begin siege/whatever of The White Tower, the Shaido have Faile (and don't forget that Elyas Machera turned up again... Where is that going to lead ?). The Black Tower obviously will have to face dozens of mad Asha'man (who have figured out some way to bond Aes Sedai ??) Will Saidin finally be cleansed ? Who is ther mysterious character who saves Rand in Shadar Logoth ? Will Moiraine reappear, along with a (changed ?) Lanfear ? And what will Padan Fain do, what Morrindin?

I could mention several sub-plots as well, but i don't think they are relevant, unless Jordan comes up with something very exciting about all the little persons and plots...

Also important: I'm sure Mat's story is going to be covered in greater detail in the next book, something most of us readers (not including myself, though...) hoped for dearly for Book Eight.

Questions and more questions, and if Jordan is able to answer them in the enchanting way he began the series, the next book will surely be a dazzling addition to the series, if not the best b to be published...

Summary: Illustration versus Photograph
Review: Bob... buddy... a couple of words of advice. Wrap the damn series up before half of the fantasy fans in the world commit ritualistic suicide out of sheer frustration at the snail's pace the last couple of books have crawled along at. More importantly, in regards to your image appearing on the cover; stick with the sketch over the photograph my friend, you look like Anne Rice's love slave.

Summary: This series could have been one of the greats.
Review: I loved the first four books of this series. I was completely enthralled by the imagination of Robert Jordan. Now, I feel let down by the author. This series is going nowhere. The sad thing is that I will probably buy the next one and the next one and so on. If there are any new readers out there thinking about reading this series, I would say prepare to be amazed for a few books and progressively discouraged with every successive volume. The only possible reason for dragging out this series is money. Maybe in about ten years if this series is over by then someone will condense this series down to a big great volume and future generations will be spared some of the meaningless garbage that has so littered the last two books. Very bad Robert Jordan! Bad! Now you go and think about what you've done!

Summary: Boring, but i'm still hooked
Review: Nothing at all happend. It was a huge dissapointment. I really hope that the story goes forward in the next book. I'm really tired to read about the male/female problem all the time. Does'nt they have anything else in their mind. I have really enjoyed this series very much. I'm still hooked.

Summary: this book was a chore to read
Review: this is something i thought i would never say: if book 9 is as bad as this book i will be forced to abandon this series. i am thuroughly confused as to why jordan is ruining this once fantastic series. i don't believe he's doing it for money (he's already a multi-millionaire). and i don't believe he's lost interest or doesn't know where to go with the series. he's said he has known the ending of the series since he first began writing it. the cast of characters has no become so immense i find myself filling notebooks trying to keep track of them all (which i still can't). mr. jordan must realize there is such a thing as overinflating the series: adding too many characters and creating too many conflicts. the vast amount of characters takes away from the possibility of establishing a more emotional connection to the characters. it would be better if he cut back on the characters and let the readers know a select few more intimately. also, jordan has a tendancy to create more and more conflict and story lines without resolving any already in progress. it's time to wrap up this series before jordan loses all credibility. this series could have been the greatest of all time. it could still be very good, but jordan needs to pick up the pace and get on with resolving conflicts and finishing it up. the wheel is moving very slowly right now.

email me if you please. i welcome your views and opinions.

Summary: Just Say No.
Review: Go look at the reviews for the hardback.

The reviews that were given *after* the book actually came out, not the hundreds of anticipatory five-star ratings. Alas, the anticipation proved in vain as far as most readers are concerned.

If you must read this book, get it from the library first. If you still like it after having read it, then go ahead and buy this with our blessing. Otherwise, don't say we didn't warn you.

Summary: interesting
Review: I'm surfing amazon.com and came to this site so thought I'd add a question - there is no doubt that Jordan is a beguiling storyteller but whats all the fuss about tolkien - I've read Lord of the Rings and frankly it was %^*&*.
