Rating: Summary: I've finally finished it - where's the next one? Review: Okay, it took forever to wade through this book - now, let's get on with it. Can't Rand and Egwene sit down and talk? If they'd get it together, things might go smoother, although they are handling their situations independently very well. I understand Robert Jordan was somewhat rushed to get this done, but I'm still anxious to see how this plays out.
Rating: Summary: A Waste of time Review: The series title should be change from "THE WHEELS OF TIMES" to "A WASTE OF TIME" geezz... what happened MR Jordan ?? ... I have been a fan of your series for so long but this book is a JOKE! ... Lucky I didn't buy it this time and waste my money... Oh well, enough said. Bye
Rating: Summary: Needs "The Princess Bride" Treatment Review: Here's the plan: After Robert Jordan dies someone will extract the good parts from the sea of wasted words. The result would be a 5 star 1500 page epic rather than an unreadable 4000+ page morass.
Rating: Summary: A STRUGGLE to FINISH! Review: I have just read many of the reviews prior to this one, and I have to say I agree wholeheartedly with all those who say this entire book went absolutely nowhere! For the first time since I started reading this series I put the book down and couldn't sum up enough enthusiasm to pick it up again. I had reached about three quarters of the way through when it dawned on me that this was just a filler section in the story, and an unnecessary one at that.A great deal of the more interesting plot developments were completely passed over in this whole book. Not only that but the development of the main characters is starting to irritate me. The girls characters are becoming stale, Perrin is downright boring and I'm beginning to actually dislike Rand. I would say something about Matt but he doesn't even appear in the book. If I were cynical I would suspect Mr Jordan is out to make some money from his loyal readers. If the next book is as poor as this one I suspect he will lose a great deal of that loyalty. However for the time being I am prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and look forward to the next instalment.
Rating: Summary: Pure Cow Dung...Ok slightly better than dung Review: I just want to know how all the people that said aCoS was a set up for PoD can use that same line again. Both books were crap. These 2 books make you wonder why he just doesn't finish already. It's obvious that RJ has lost the edge that he and this story had. Go read Tad Williams or George R.R. Martin. The Girls find the bowl and it takes them almost the length of a whole book to use the damn thing. Every female charactor seems to be the same craby, stuck-up person. As if we didn't all ready have to many of that type of girls now we have more. Mat was totaly left out. Rand is even more of a boring monster( but at least he kills the bad guys). BUT the Bad guys he kills wont stay dead. Whats the point... You might get more plot advancement in just as many pages if you read the phone book.
Rating: Summary: DO NOT BUY Review: It's official: I no longer care about this series. Mr. Jordan, the well has run dry, the tale has become stale...the only reason to continue this is because your legions of blind followers will buy the forthcoming books, decent story or not. And that's why you'll continue to write this worthless nonsense. The Path of Daggers features, among others things, no plot whatsoever. After trudging through the entire book, you come to the realization that nothing of note happens. Rather than deal in the main characters, a full half of the book (at the very least) is consumed in describing the minute details of every minor characters clothing. The "Epic" plot for The Wheel of Time does not move but an inch forward. I, like so many others, am now done with this series.
Rating: Summary: The book was good but man, how slow. Review: The serie is good, no doubt. The male characters are good, no doubt. The story is good, no doubt. No doubt about it, these aspects are great. But I do suspect that Mr. Jordan's wife has a hand in the serie and not for the good of the books. The women are all a bunch of super-models with a great intelligence and a dominant mind and all have handsome, powerfull men. Imagine professor Cameron Diaz with a Magnum 45. shooting the crap out of hordes of Chinese while french-kissing superman Leonardo DiCaprio. This is the weakest point in the book and this point is made very clear throughout the book, how iritating. Furthermore, I would like it if Mr. Jordan would hurry up, the animo is slowly running low. But I can wait a little longer.
Rating: Summary: Bad. Review: I haven't really been looking forward to reading the next book in the series since the weak ACOS, but I've finally read POD and it's extremely disappointing. The plot goes absolutely nowhere. The story switches abruptly between the various groups, with little connection between the plot threads. Absolutely nothing happens. Minor characters are described in painstaking detail -- but who cares? Men and women are described with simplistic caricatures. And there isn't a single interesting or memorable "moment" in POD.
Rating: Summary: What's going on here? Review: I will be the first to admit that this is probably the best series ever published. In fact, I've read it eleven times. But this business with leaving out characters for entire books is starting to get on my nerves. . . I mean, first Perrin in tFoH, and now Mat in PoD? Mat was the most interesting character in the series, and although leaving readers in suspense for an entire novel may have some of us begging desperately for the next one, some others may be turned off from the series permanently. Hear our plea! STOP THIS NONSENSE!!!!
Rating: Summary: The ending seems cut off. Review: All of you old time Robert Jordan readers, you pick up the eighth installment of his Wheel Of Time series and take it home to read. The imagery is spectacular and the details exquisit. The middle builds in pace and then nothing. It was decidedly a cliff hanger unlike any of his previous books. It seems like the book should have been longer and then was sliced in half. No resolution and no satisfaction. I hope the ninth is much better, but hey we are already hooked so what can you do?
