Summary: So confused...
Review: I don't know whether I love RJ's writing or hate it. Well, I guess that isn't exactly true. I have developed a sincere admiration for Mr. Jordan's amazingly detailed imagination and I love the world he has created, but I am only managing to drag myself through the remainder of this series by my metaphorically cracked and broken fingernails. It's like fighting a battle between constantly warring impulses to submerge myself in intricate fantasy or to run screaming from the inevitable let down of finding no peace at the end. The unrelenting need for release from suspense is driving me through the pages, but I don't know whether I am fully enjoying the story anymore.

At the same time I do not know how it should be any different. For example, I normally love a little subtle foreshadowing as a way of stimulating the brain with possiblity, but when it occurs two thick books ahead of the actual event it leaves me hanging for so long I get frustrated. On the other hand, it is a suprisingly effective way of carrying individual plot lines through a seemingly tangled mess of story lines so that you don't forget when you do get to what you have been waiting for.

All in all, my greatest emerging feeling about this particular series is not love of the writing or frustration at the seeming slowness, its sadness. Once I finish this series I will never again pick it up as I do other favored fantasies. There is simply to much or to little there. I would inevitably rush through it, skipping the vivid images Mr. Jordan has painted on the back of my mind, for the simple reason that even after I know the what happens in the conclusion, his writing will draw me in and then I'm back at square one. Maybe I just don't read fast enough.

So I guess the only way I can sum up a review for this book, or this series, is hat's off to Robert Jordan. I just don't know whether to doft mine or stomp on it.

Summary: Better than Book Seven
Review: Many readers by this book are chomping at the bit, either for Mr.
Jordan to finish the series, or to get back to Rand. In book seven, Rand gets Illian, but we are uncertain whether or not he
has actually killed Sammael. While Rand does little in this book,
everyone else seems to be tying things up. Logain has joined the Ashaman. Moghedien has reported to Shayol Ghul. The Rebel Tower
Reaches the district of Tar Valon. The members of the Ashaman who
are Darkfriends are revealled when they try to kill Rand. The towering character of Cadsuane Sedai is defined even more as the
epitome of what an Aes Sedai should be, and the first Aes Sedai
worthy of the Challenge of the Dragon Reborn since Moiraine. And
the Aes Sedai discover a way to uncover the Black Ajah. The only
weak point is that Rand really does not do anything to advance us to the conclusion. But that was what he did in the first six books, and the rest of the story needs to catch up, other wise we would have way too many loss ends. The worst part about this book was that it was the shortest one-less than six hundred pages
The only other bad thing was the wait necessary to read the book.

Summary: Whats not to like?
Review: Im truly perplexed...I thought readers of RJ's epic fantasy had more sophisticated appetites than what they show in their scathing reviews. Granted, if you dont want complex fantasy, with complex plot lines that take time to develop as they would if they occured in the real world..this is not the book for you. If you dont really care for political scheming like chess pieces on a board...this is not the book for you. If you dont like battle sequences, cliffhangers or real character development...look elsewhere. Otherwise, I dont really see what you have to complain about in this book. I loved every single page of it. So many people are scheming and planning, its better than any cheesy daytime soap. The battle scenes with the Seanchan are maybe not as action packed, but then again, not all the action takes place on the field. I loved watching Egwene's power struggle with the Aes Sedai...I had images of the Senate runing throuhg my head reading about her, I imagine thats how alot of our 'government' is run as well. AS for the ending...its one of the best endings Jordan's ever done...not necc for what happens, but for what AlMOST or what is ABOUT to happen. This book ends with several mini(if u can considr Egwene marching on Tar Valon mini) cliffhangers, and one major clifhanger concerning Rand. Granted..in the big scheme of things, I guess not much happens...but...the devil is in the details, so to speak...and for me...its more delicious to add up the mini threads to see where things will lead than to be beat over the head with an obvious conclusuon...the patient shall inherit the rewards. 4 star effort Mr. Jordan...and if you, oh impatient reader, just want a quick fix ending..i suggest sticking to Goodkind...lord knows I love his writing too..but, it doesnt really challenge the brain as well as Jordan.- A.N.

Summary: Too Boring
Review: I used to love this series. I read through the first 7 books in about 5 months and I loved every single one of them. The first book was the best, but the 5th and 6th books have been a drag to get through. The 7th book was good though. I expected the eighth book to be great too, but I ended up getting bored reading it. The story isn't that refreshing and exciting anymore. Maybe the reason that I don't like the 8th book is because my favorite character isn't in it. Matt, by far, is the best character in the entire series. He is funny and entertaining, but he doesn't get that many apperances in the series. Robert Jordan, put Matt in more scenes! I sincerely hope that Matt is in books 9+.

Summary: Let's Move Along
Review: OK, I like the book, but it's dragging along a bit now and I found myself skimming over areas to get on with the story. This last one was the most difficult to get through probably because there are getting to be so many main characters to keep track of. I found myself having to stop and try and remember who was who and good or bad. Many names so close that they are confusing. I'm ready for RJ to finish this series and move on to a new one, and I also agree with another writer who said the time between books is too lengthy.

Summary: absolutely excellent
Review: one thing i've always had against fantasy stories, including this series is that they never seem to give the enemies more than a two dimensional characterization. this one attempts it rather well with the forsaken and some of the darkfriends, but trollocs are just fodder for rand's lightning strikes.
but my own pet pieves aside, this story is rich and complex. this world that robert jordan has created is imaginative and innovative. it may seem like he is using some stereotypes from our own cultures throughout our world, but he's mixed it up well enough to be considered his own creation.

the story will engross you, as it should and you will be caught up in the characters' drive for survival. enjoy it, and all nine books so far.

Summary: Why Bother?
Review: After a few hundred pages of this one I just got fed up. More mysterous intrigue, more ominous comments by mysterious strangers, more angst-filled nights for the main characters. Why does everyone think I am tupping her? Should I? Will my love be saved from her mysterious captors? Is my closest childhood friend really black (and blue) ahdj? Is there a plot to this series? What ever happened to baby Jane?

Give up on it and go find an author who can tell a story in 300 pages.

Summary: Better than the last one but...
Review: still not even close to the first few books. Sometimes it seems like Jordan just drags things out to make the book longer, other times the pages fly by. IMHO this book is much better than crown of swords. I'll read the next one now. I was close to stopping after reading crown. Now I have to keep going...

Summary: A great series
Review: I love Robert Jordan's series. I laugh when I see reviewers complain about Nynaeve's hair pulling. What's wrong with that? Nynaeve and Mat are the comic relief...so what? I'm a 48 year old woman- and I do enjoy the way the people react in this series. I can't wait for the next one? Is it really going to be another 2 years?

Summary: This book RULES!!
Review: This book was the best book I have ever read(not including RJ's other books). My favorite characters are Rand, the Ash'aman,Perrin,Mat,Lews Therin Telmon,Elyane,Tallanvanor(I think that is right),Avienda, and Eguane(EE-gwAA-ne).Min should not be allowed in the book because she is stupid.I don't see why RJ put her in the book.Light, Rand already loves two other women so why her of all people.Eladia also should be thrown out. Some of the words seem so familler like Callandor,Shi'tan,Myradall,Trolloc,Aes Sedai,Ash'aman,M'hael,Cullender,Lews Therin Telmon,Illyena, Lanfear,Forsaken,Ajah and others.
