Rating: Summary: Slow this time, but still a good read Review: POD is not the best of the series - maybe a bit too much on the details and a wee bit disjointed, but I'm hoping its a set up for fireworks. Anybody hear of when the final is coming to print? Yes of course I'm going to buy it <g>.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: I'll admit, I'm addicted to the series- the first 6 books were unbelievably good. Then I read COS, which lacks the plot and character development of 1-6. Path of Daggers is even worse! The story's not progressing and some of the six main characters are barely mentioned. What happened? Has Jordan died and his publishers hired freelance authors to finish the series? Either that or Jordan's just burned out from writing eight 700 page books in less than ten years. I hope he can finish the series without the books continuing to get worse.
Rating: Summary: Long-awaited sequel was somewhat of a letdown Review: I have been a fan of the series since 1992 and have enjoyed all of the books (Path of Daggers included). I have noticed, however, that with Crown of Swords (book 7) and Path of Daggers (book 8), that the rate of plot advancement has slowed considerably. I will always welcome the chance to get another glimpse into this fascinating world, but I am hoping that a lot more issues get tied up in the next installment =) Best wishes, -Kris
Rating: Summary: Continued Decline Review: I can't believe this book. As has been stated previously, I dont need to hear what the undergarmets of someone who died of the plague six weeks ago look like. I read the book, but I found my self skipping close to 1/3 of the paragraphs which were needless description. After all that I wish I had skipped at least another 1/3 and read the 3 or 4 plot advances in 600 pages. I'll probably read the next one, but I sure hope its better than this one...
Rating: Summary: Dissapointing Review: Too many characters and too little action pretty well sums up this glacially-paced, overly stylistic piece of melodrama. The only reason to read this book is the faint hope that Mr. Jordan will get out his copy of 'Eye of the World" (or better yet, Martin's 'A Game of Thrones') and figure out how to write decent fantasy again. If you were looking for endless wrangling between the Aes Sedai, themselves, and everyone else - then this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: A series to take your mind off of the world Review: I am a SGT in the army and I was actually introduced to this series by a friend in 96 and since that time in hawaii under the 25 inf div I have not stop reading Robert Jordon books. If there was ever a series to catch the imagination then this would be it.I can relate to everyone of his books in that you get a since of what it would be to live in that time and place. Robert Jordons book,s have been so good that even when I was in the field for weeks I just had to start reading one of his books and it did not matter if I was in mud or it was raining hard or where ever I was I would never fill it. This series was the best I have or will prablably ever read. I would like to read more on the black tower and everything that goes with it more in detail. The men who can weild the power and not fear for their lives are true soldiers if their ever was one.The world of Robert Jordon is a soldiers dream come true.AIRBORN TO ROBERT JORDON AND THE WHEEL OF TIME. SGT GRAYSON US ARMY HANAU GERMANY 26 QMS
Rating: Summary: What a disappointment! Review: This, by far, is the weakest of the series. It reads as though Jordan only likes introducing new characters and new plot lines, but doesn't want to conclude any of them. There's no real climax in this one, either. And he doesn't make any effort to remind us what the Bowl of Winds is or who Cadsuane was or why she's important -- how did she help save Rand? This is stuff die-hard fans may remember, but it's not anything I thought about since I read the last installment. My advice to Robert Jordan: You've got enough plot lines and characters to round out another four books. Tie them all up and stop introducing new ones! And next time, have a book that has an ending we can appreciate!
Rating: Summary: boring Review: boring book. didn't finish it. read the chapter synopsis's available on the net instead. too many characters (and can't remember half the people by now cos it's been so long since the last book and I'm not reading that one again either cos it was so long and boring). save your time and money!
Rating: Summary: Not worth buying this book Review: I've been a fan of Robert Jordan and have read all the other books in the series, but each successive book has gotten slower and more pedestrian and this latest book was simply too painful to finish. The characters bicker and argue with each other seemingly without reason and the plot has become overly convoluted and incomprehensible. I know that Mr Jordan is capable of more as evidenced by his previous works and I hope that he is not unnecessarily drawing out the storyline for the sake of financial gain.
Rating: Summary: can it get slower?? Review: Listen, i like the other seven books, but this got me nowhere. It looked like a "between" other books, one terrible long chapter in stead of a whole book. AT the ending it started gettin' excited, but then it ended. NOrmally the books have kind of an ending, this didn't. It stopped in what would have been the middle of a book. Now i have to wait another 1 1/2 year to finally finish the stories that ended in POD. I really hope Egwene will finally reach or enter Tar Valon in that part!!!!
