Summary: SSSSSLLLLLOOOOOWWWW MOVING
Review: i just hoped that book 8 is one of a kind and never to be repeated. the whole plot has slowed to a crawling pace. when you read book 1 and compare that with book 8, you come to realize that 1: the universe has expanded to include a lot of other characters which is not necessary good or bad depending on how you view it 2: the plot gets bigger and slower...book 8 was the slowest moving book. it was so slow that nothing really significant happens. 3: we are reading more and more about the other characters and less about the main character, rand.

the end of book 8 especially the battle was very anti-climatic.

the first 4 books were pretty good, the next 4 books were mediocre. as he builds up the universe, the main character focus has been lost. each of the next 4 books can be split up into 3 books and read separately. in fact, it would even helped the understanding of the plot. my recommendation??? buy only if you are a serious avid collector of the whole series and pray real hard that book 9 would be better than book. if you are not a collector, skip book 8.

Summary: A necessary installment to a complicated scenario.
Review: I think too many readers aren't taking the necessary 'step back' when reviewing this book. What I did when reading this was to look at the map at the front of the book and look at how Jordan is moving and consolidating the many, many characters and forces that will ultimately lead to the anticipated climax. The previous installment left the characters scattered all over the place. Now forces and key characters are gathering together. I too was disapointed that Mat didn't play a part in this book, however, it is clear that he will play a HUGE part in the next book (for those that doubt this, re-read Min's prophecies in earlier books).

I gave it only 4 stars because of the pace, but loved it all the same and feel that it somewhat adds to the story, as all is not always fast-paced action. Trudging through the trenches and tactical deployment of forces, although slow and sometimes boring, is a vital necessity to any story of this magnitude.

And a final thought, shame on you, to any and all Wheel of Time fans who so quickly turn on a story that has obviously given you countless hours of creativity and imagination.

Summary: Take it as a book.
Review: I'm a fan of Wheel of Time, and by the gods, I loved the first few, still do. In fact, it isn't until A Crown of Swords that they started to get, well, dull.

So I desided to review this book as a book, not the whole series together. This book was horrid on it's own. It continued the WoT characters and storyline, and it made a slew of money, and parts of it made me actually think "maybe this isn't so bad."

But it is that bad. Granted, the Wheel has been turning and some wind has been coming in from somewhere for 8 books, and Jordan has a tough setup, what with each book having to be as good as the last. However, if this was a first book of any series; the choppieness of it, the way no sense of closure was in it, and all the other 1500 reviews here, ad nausium, then Jordan would be written off as a hack and the series wouldn't go anywhere.

If you're a rabid WoT Fanatic, you could sooner stop breathing than buy this in both forms and both covers for the paperback, but it you're thinking of getting in on the series just now, wait until the reviews of Book 9 come out.

Summary: for a slow book, you must read slowly.
Review: I have been browsing through the reviews, and read many of them. I also noticed that the story in the books have been getting slower with each book. I don't know why many people thought the last 2 books were bad. In my opinion, book 6 was my favorite. And granted, book 7 didn't have a high cliff-hanger ending as the previous books, but since when did a book series required a extremly intense cliff-hanger ending?

I gave it a 5 because I gosh darn enjoyed the book! All the plots, the characters, the guesses, oh, the guesses. This is how to truly enjoy Robert Jordan's books. You have to get involved in the world he has so skillfully created. When you read the books, don't just skim over it because you think it's going slow. Don't skip one character because you don't particularly like the character. You will not get involved in the story if you just rush through the book, wondering if the series will end.

Although not a good stand alone book as the earlier books (I would give book 3 - 6 a 7 star rating, if it were at all possible), give it a chance, and have patience, and you will be rewarded with a great book.

Summary: WOOHOO!!! Can't get enough!
Review: Robert Jordan is the best! And his books will live in my mind and heart forever. I've read the first four to the Wheel of Time four times now. The rest I have read three times. I can't stand to wait in between books so I have to reread them each time a new one comes out. Each time I begin one of his books, I get sucked into the pages and live in the story. I see, hear, smell, and taste everything going on around me. The only other author that can do that to me is Stephen King (the KING of the horror genre!) So to me, Jordan is the KING of fantasy epics! He definitely gets my 2 thumbs up!

By the way, does anyone know when the next book is scheduled to come out???? I can't wait...

Summary: Braid-tuggingly dull...burned out, saidin-tainted, stilled
Review: I read the first three of this series in a week; I enjoyed the fourth and fifth, I labored my way through 6 and 7, skimmed Path of Daggers for major plot points and wonder if I'm going to care much whenever No. 9 comes out. The only reason I care at all is that I want to find out if Min, the only (apparently) living female character for whom I've developed any real affection, gets Rand, what Moiraine will do when she comes back, and who the Daughter of the Nine Moons turns out to be. After a really wretched start Mat turned out to be one of my favorite characters, so I want to know who he ends up with. I also want Nynaeve, Siuan, Aviendha, Faile and almost any Wise Woman or Aes Sedai to die horrible, painful deaths for their arrogance, bitchiness, whining and simpering. Moiraine (taking the Gandalf role in this little epic) was the only one who had any real grace and dignity, and at least Min (and Elayne, to a lesser extent) appears to have a sense of humor and seems fairly good-natured. I won't even get started on the annoying qualities of the men. The series needs to end, but I suppose we'll have to wait for Vols. 9 and 10. (And pray that Jordan stops there.) If I hadn't invested so much time and energy in the first books, I wouldn't have bothered after Lord of Chaos.

Summary: It isn't great, but its not bad
Review: This book isn't worth reading on it's own, but it fits in pretty good with the series. The plot was too slow and nothing that had to do with the major issues happened. Nevertheless it does make book 9 open to many possibilities.

Summary: A real page turner! I had to skip a lot just to stay awake!
Review: The only reason this book rates two stars is that it came into print at all, and I was beginning to doubt it would. Good writing and some interesting scenes but major sections of story going nowhere. If you just want to pretend you are really in this make-believe place, fine. But if you want to READ a good story, more progress please!

Summary: The story has been lost in the detail
Review: Even though the Path of Daggers might not be a great book in and of itself, the series is still pretty good on a whole. So my 2 star rating is for this book alone.

I think that Robert Jordan has got caught up in a style of writing where every plot element and sub story has to be presented to the reader in extreme detail. How huge is this cast of characters going to be before the series is over? Robert Jorden needs to focus a bit more on the primary characters.

Has anyone noticed that Nynaeve's personality has now reached such extremes that she seems to be going insane! And does every women who channels have to stare at each other with "eyes like daggers" Give me a break. How often do we have to see the female characters in the this novel argue.

Summary: The longer the series the harder the time...
Review: I've noticed a lot of mention to Martin here and there in two sites (the other being Goodkind)you have to realize that the start of any series is great...and that a trilogy is much easier to keep cohesive than an epic tale spanning five or more books...this is like a history of Rand's world...and in being so it suffers from the same problems our own history does...much of what is seen gets boring or off track from the over all direction....how many of you out there could sustain a whole world with just your imagination for eight books or more withoout getting a little stale...perhaps it is time for a few authors to take a break and read the past works they've written...maybe in a year or so of rest..they can get back on track with the kind of power we all expect from them...Maybe it would help if we all didn't whine when the next book wasn't on the shelves in sixth months...an were more patient (waiting even two years ) for the next crafted work...money talks and they are listening...faster out more cash...if we stop paying and demand care..we'll get it :)

All in all the book was a good read, a fine way to pass a rainy afternoon, the characters aren't as polished as they have been, Rands constant internal struggle is wearing thin (something has to break) and we need a few less threads...and please ...no more braid tugging...
