Summary: Tangled web that isn't worth the effort.
Review: It was as if Robert Jordon just wants to keep you coming back for another book. I really want to have some sort of fullfilment but there isn't any here. The wonderfully complex characters of the first four books have turned into boring caricatures. Where is Matt and who cares. This is like watching an old boxer who will not quit. It is sad. Robert Jordan should have ended this at book five. I for one do not care any more.

Summary: A preview of what is to come!
Review: Robert Jordan is buying time. He is saving all his creativity for the "Great Ending" that is to come, as any genius author would do!

Summary: Sod the story, let's grab the money
Review: Damn I'm glad I didn't buy this one. I got it from the Library, and only my dogged tenacity persuaded me to do that. I was hoping we might at last get a satisfactory finish to this series, but no. Same old characters in the the same tierd patterns of behaviour. Too many names and mounds of tedious fantasy politics. So much potential, so little pay-off. I can only assume that the Book Co. have persuaded RJ to spin it out so they can cream off the mega-bucks, and that RJ is a little tierd of the whole business, and doesn't have a clue how to finish it. Maybe I'll skim Book 9 in a shop one day, and check the last page to see if there's been any movement.

Summary: 1510 reviews. 3 Star Rating.
Review: Right now, there are 1510 reviews in, and the average rating is at 3 stars. I think that speaks for itself.

After a good five or so books, book 6 began to slow down and book 7 really dragged, with Rand doing abysmally stupid things. I don't care what the Author's justification is, I can't stand it when characters do stupid things.

Then, this book opens up. The main character is not to be found for over a hundred pages. Instead, we're forced to drag ourselves over the hot coals of several secondary and tertiary characters miserable lives. The information might be viewed as important, but this sort of side stuff was happening all through the earliest novels, we didn't see it then, and I certainly didn't miss it. I must say, I really don't want it. Come on, Robert! Work around it!

When Rand finally appears, he's doing stuff that he's been doing for several books now. Near copies of the scene that opens his appearance can be found all the way back to The Shadow Rising. Come on! Rand arguing it out with a bunch of stupid nobles? Again? I'm not impressed.

At the rate this series is slowing down, I expect it to be done somewhere late next century (you can be certain that if Mr. Jordan is unable to continue, the publisher will make certain someone else does).

You can also be sure I won't read another book.

Summary: psychological depth
Review: Many, many people write that there is nothing going on in PoD. True. There is one major battle plus some duelling with the Power. But that is for the material world. Look at the characters! Have you ever read another fantasy series with such psychological depth? So many different characters from so many different backgrounds! All worked out in detail - and not just in their physical appearance, in their habits of skirt-adjusting and braid-tugging. Have you ever gone to such lengths in discussing characters and events with your friends with any other series? Is Rand cracking up? Is not Aviendha a coward? Is Suroth a darkfriend? Is Egwene going to find herself in some deep, deep trouble with Romanda? Not even Terry Goodkind has written books which pose so many questions. WoT is the only series where you can get a glimpse of really, really epic drama.

Summary: I was good
Review: I have trouble remenbering where it picked up after book 7 but it was pretty good, It all move foreward a bit more(sadly not much though)and I'm looking foreward to the next one in a few years. It did leave me in surspence about what going to happen to mat, though I have a good guess

Summary: x-fan
Review: goes nowhere. I would not have read this book if I wasn't a WOT fan. Lacks suspense, resolution, and creativity. I wouldn't even buy the paperback.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Good writing, yet getting old
Review: POD is expertly written yet as we reach the end of the eigth book it seems that no ones making any real progress.I am reminded much of Terry Goodkin. His first 3 books were great but 4 and 5 seem a redundant. I would really like to get to the climax of what has so far been an expertly told story.

Summary: A long read at times
Review: Th book basically tried to cover too many without actually developing any of them. There is an obvious attempt to wangle interest in a follow up. a lot of scenes are unnecessarily drawn out and at times long winded. Some of the characters have lost credibility ( I know it's a fantasy book ny'naeve could not have become such a snivelling wimp)!!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: slower, but another step forward
Review: This isn't as "can't put it down" as previous titles in the series but we must remember that the WHEEL OF TIME series is a very involved story. The fact that this particular book isn't as fast paced as the earlier titles doesn't detract from the depth it has added to the story overall. I'll definitely be lining up for the next edition!!
