Summary: Very Bad
Review: Listen folks, just because a series is great (or in my opinon, WAS great) does not mean that this particular book is great. Almost all of the reviews that gave this book 4 or 5 stars did so because they said that the series is great. Then they go on making excuses for this book.

Be honest! This book was not well written. No need for excuses. No need to focus on the overall series. Hopefully future books will be better (although I have my doubts). But that is no reason to rate this particular book highly.

Summary: huh?
Review: Maybe it wasn't as coordinated as the best, so what? It was still a great book, and part of one of the best series ever to be written. If you can't look at what is good, best you don't write a review!

Summary: POD Shocker
Review: This is the worst book I have ever read. It's the only book I have ever had to chuck in the bin. It's a shocker! I got to about page 400 and had had enough, unfortunately, I chipped the paintwork on my wall where the corner of the book hit it. This author needs a good editor very very badly. Maybe this guy thinks he doesn't need an editor, that every line he writes is pure magic. He's sadly wrong. The book is boring, agonisingly detailed beyond reason and he repeats himself over and over and over again.I can't believe some people are giving this 4 and 5 stars. It should get none! This book could have been written in about 100 pages and that would have been to long. The series looked like it was going to be a classic - what a shame.

Summary: Still Waiting
Review: It is painful to read and still not get an ending after so many years, yet the series is great. This book is obviously trying to get to the end and gets a little lost but the reader ends up increasing his understanding of the characteres that will be needed in the end. Definitely, a great fanasty series that to get hooked on. Now its time for number 9.

Summary: What happened?
Review: I have loved all of the books in the Wheel of Time series, but what happened with this one? Only the last quarter was Robert Jordan in true fashion. The first 3/4 was dribble. This could have been one of the most interesting of the series, but he blew it. I hope he's more focused with the next one.

Summary: Going nowhere fast
Review: The eighth installment of WoT is worse than the weak seventh and horrible in contrast with the initial books. While the first four books imparted a sense of wonder and had great action, the fifth and sixth books had momentous events, PoD is a mishmash of stillborn storylines without direction or purpose. Hopefully Jordan has not grown indolent such that he is only drawing out the series for his own fun and profit. Instead, he MUST pick up the pace and bring the series to a rousing conclusion within 2-3 books to avoid alienating existing readers and retain the ability to attract new ones.

Summary: Please, I can't take it no longer
Review: Robert Jordan, if you read this, or anyone. I have started for the second time to read the series, and I needed it. This complexe world needs studying. I love every world of it, naturally, and I waited for book 8 to come. I liked it, i read it and I want more. But also, I agree with many, the book didn't solve many of the loose ends Jordan must start having problems with. How is everything to come toghether? And please, Jordan, end the saga, tell us the end, don't write ten more books and then ten more books. Let me also say that I love Margaret H. in Amazon press for what she writes about Rand and his connection to Lews.

Summary: It's only getting worse...
Review: I have always enjoyed this series, but this book has almost pushed me over the edge. I'm seriously considering not buying any of the rest of the series. The first 3 books were good; the second 3 were acceptable; and the rest have been a waste of the paper they were printed on. Save yourself the expense and just wait until your local library is throwing their copy out in another 5 years, if you're desperate to read it.

Of course, I'm aware that if you're reading the reviews of a book that is 8th in a series, you've probably already read the others and are addicted. But I think you'd be better off spending your money joining a twelve-step program to overcome your addiction to Robert Jordan than you would be buying this book. Don't do it!

Summary: Well Written, but slow.
Review: I'm really tired of reading reviews about this book that are so negative. Granted, it was slow, and really did not push the plot forward. I wish I had waited until it was in paperback to spend money on it. However, no matter how boring it might be, it is extremely well written. R.J. has an incredible talent with words and imagery. Until the critics who complain of his "taking his time writing," and his "writers block," and his choosing to leave a character out, (Mat)have experienced how hard it is to write a book and have it published, I think they should temper their harsh judgements. I may not have thought that this was Jordan's best work, but his writing is flawless and can be read for that reason only. These days, when most books are written at a sixth grade level to match America's reading skills, Robert Jordan's accomplishments are nothing short of amazing. The fact that he has been able to keep the complicated plot and characters straight through 8 novels is a feat that only a handful of authors could manage. So if you've read the rest of the series, this book is worth it--but buy the paperback, and don't expect the racing pace of the previous novels.
