Summary: Frightening continuation
Review: Frankly if you haven't started this series DON'T it isn't worth the irratation. After much thought and having reread of the entire series I find this book very disturbing. The writing itself is about on par with the rest of the series but it seems there is little chance this series will ever end. This is largely because for every piece of plot development there are two new twists or subplots developed; after eight books this is ridiculous. The lack of resolution makes this a very disappointing book. One has to wonder if the author has any real design or overall plan in mind.

Summary: Here it Comes!
Review: I just heard the news and I have high expectations for Jordan's new book 'The Winter's Heart.' Though its taken almost forever I trust that Jordan will bring us all back into the story that we all love and can't get enough of. The last book or two my have disapointed some of us but we must remember what started us reading this series and how Robert Jordan took all of us into the world of Rand Al'Thor. November better get here damn'd quick!

Summary: I'm impatient, okay?
Review: Now that I've had some time to breathe deeply and think about it (over a year to think about it), I think the reason I disliked this one so much was because I have to wait for the next one. If I could have set book 8 down and immediately picked up number 9 I would have given Path of Daggers rave reviews. But I can't because I'm frustrated and impatient and want to read the next one NOW!

This is a good series. A CLASSIC series. The only advice I could offer if I could talk to Jordan ... give us a light at the end of the tunnel so we know we don't have to wait until 2010 to wrap it up.

Summary: Good, but can get better
Review: This is a great book but it can be a bit better. Rand is becoming a bit crazy and his male Aes Sedai are going crazy too. Nothing really happens in this book. It mainly tells you about what's going to happen or might happen. Hopefully, book nine will finally tell us what the hell is going to happen.

Summary: I believe in Jordan
Review: This book was classic Jordan. Engrossing. The detailed descriptions of characters (body and mind) and scenes serve to create a vivid image in the mind of the reader. If you find this boring and lose your interest, try Ritalin. Jordan simply never fails to set the scene up for the reader. Nothing to blame in that. Yes, the constant plot twists are soap opera-like, but (coming from an enemy of soaps) if soaps were written this well, I'd watch them religiously. And those who say that nothing happened forget that there are more books coming. I'm only using my imagination, but I suspect that this book was a great buildup to the next... or the one after. I'm betting on Jordan blasting all critics out of the water with his future storyline and ending. Try thinking that these books are chapters, and not every chapter ends with a bang. As I've experienced with other "slow" books in the series, sometimes it takes the next book to make me really appreciate the previous one. So for those of you dropping the series, I'd like to say hang on because the rollercoaster has just topped the first rise, but if you weren't entertained by the colorful rise then you probably shouldn't waste your time anyway. For those uninitiated to the series, it is not Kafka. Nor is it trying to be. It is entertainment, not a philosophical commentary on the nature of reality or humanity, although the series contains many of those elements. But try it if you have a love for imagery and detail of all kinds, seamless blending of different cultures and their mythologies, and good old-fashioned intrigue. Not to forget, an exceedingly tangible world, very different from our own but also very similar. Oh, and be prepared for some excruciating waiting.

Summary: too harsh
Review: just been reading some of the reviews. way too harsh people. sure this one doesn't spit fire and break speed limits but epic storytelling has a pattern and rhythm. it builds background, character and place as much as burns plot. dramatice conventions of large scale story telling are just not going to give you the 45 minute resolution & pace that prime time t.v vomits up every night. just as well really. check out the difference between the seven samurai & the magnificent seven. both valid and fantastic but completely different dramatic conventions. keep raking the zen garden people and keep your trousers on for the next book. md

Summary: It was well-written, as always.
Review: Robert Jordan is an excellent writer and he has created a wonderful series. This book was written with his usual great attention to detail, but without any big advances in the plot. It amazed me that I could read so eagerly and still have a vague sense of disappointment when I finished. I really wish that more had happened, but it is still a great read.

Summary: Guilty Pleasures
Review: Perhaps this is more of a commentary on the state of fantasy than the quality of Path but I quite enjoyed Jordan's latest . I would like to see more coherant plot development and dread the ever increasing liklihood of falling into the Star Trek syndrome (The rush to tie up all the loose ends in the final 1000 pages - give or take an order of magnitude). But, I got my moneys worth (In hardcover even). As an admited fantasy junkie I'll keep buying until my friends perform an intervention. But, hey, It could be worse. i know people that actually like Steven King.

Summary: This book is big....
Review: But that's the only positive thing I can say about it. I highly recommend that Jordan stop writing books in this series (it is getting really old) and readers stop reading these books. I haven't been able to finish any of this series since the first two books, although I stupidly keep trying.
