Rating: Summary: The WOT, worth the read, and worth the waiting! Review: After reading over one-hundred books of fantasy one can find the whole genre a bit repetitive. That all ends with this series. I bought my first WOT book mostly on it's bulk alone. 1000 pages alone was almost worth the price of admission. Little did I know what a fascinating and expansive tale was ahead of me. I was hooked from the first page. After that, I could not put down the series until I had finished the first three books that had been published at that time. Following Rand's humble beginning's and watching him grow to the reluctant savior of the world has been quite a treat. With a myriad cast of thousands in between the reader is kept on his toes at all times. Now eagerly awaiting book 8, I cannot reccomend this series enough. As for the waiting which inevitably follows the conclusion of each book, big deal! There is nothing sadder than the ending of a truly great series. So let this one go on till 'they nail shut the coffin' as the back flap declares so blatantly, or until RJ retires this richly detailed world. For those who just can't wait I say - reread the old books!
Rating: Summary: A MUST READ!!! Review: I've read the whole WoT series and love every bit of it. Robert Jordan is a _masterful_ writer, making the world of this series as real as our own. These books have worked their way into my consciousness to the point that I have had dreams where I am an Aes Sedai! NO other fantasy series has ever had that effect on me. To be quite honest, I haven't read Path of Daggers yet, but I expect the same high quality fantasy out of this book as I got out of the rest of the Wheel of Time series!
Rating: Summary: A GREAT WRITER A GREAT SERIES Review: HE IS GREAT ......HIS SERIES IS GREAT.....HIS TITLES ARE GREAT.....HIS INTRICATE WEAVINGS OF TIME AND PLOTS ARE GREAT... TO ME HE IS RANKED WITH THE BEST OF WRITERS SUCH AS TERRY GOODKIND,DAVID EDDINGS, ISAAC ASIMOV,MELANIE RAWN,AND ALL THE OTHER FANTASY WRITERS.....HE IS ONE OF THE FEW WRITERS WHO MAKE ME START READING AND KEEP READING WITHOUT SLEEP,FOOD,OR REST. YEP HE IS GREAT AND I COULDA JUST WROTE THAT BUT I THINK HE SHOULD BE PRAISED FOR HIS GREAT SERIES AND THE NEXT BOOK THE PATH OF DAGGERS.
Rating: Summary: I love the whole WOT series. Review: This series is a major focal point in the reading career of my life. I have read many fantasy books over many years and I would have to say that this is by far the best ever written. When I read each, and i have read the whole series four times, I feel as though I am right there in the book with the characters. I feel there joy, sorrow, pain, and triumph, and i love every minute of it. I have been waiting for this book to come out for over a year and a half, and it is going to be worth every minute of it. As to the Tolkien/Jordan comparison. I think that Tolkien is a great author, he created his own realm of life and he expanded on it superbly, but Jordan has done better. Jordan has taken Tolkien ideas and taken many levels above. Jordan has created a world so immense and intricate that it could never be duplicated by another author.
Rating: Summary: Where is Mat? Review: I have read the series several times and am rather dissapointed in the absence of Mat Cauthon. It is reminiscent of the third book when Perrin is absent as well. Why? Mat has become one of the more interesting characters while Rand has degenerated into a near insane maniac with the power to destroy the world (a second time?). I also had some issues with the amount of attention played towars Egwene and Elayne. I find their story intersting but just not as exciting as what is to be happening to Mat in this story. I also found the absence of Elayne's brothers also disturbing. If as Elaida has said the key to victory in the last battle is with Andor then why have them missing as well. I found the role Gaul played severely diminished and I welcomed the return of Eleyas but where was the Ogier, isn't he chronicling the story of ta'vreen. I enjoyed the book for the most part and find myself inevitably waiting the next couple of years for the next one but am disturbed with the lack of several key characters appearance in the book. I still read the book in two days though. The wheel weaves its own path and so does Jordan.
Rating: Summary: best fantasy series i have ever read.. Review: ihave read all the robert jordan series of the wheel of time and i still cant believe how good they really are. this guy is amazing and the world also seems so real to me when i am truly engrossed.i have read other comments and i agree that sometimes these books can drag but i feel it becomes worth it due to the sheer excitement it gives and pleasure seeing elayne, rand and all the other characters unravel and grow.my only prob i have had is that i read all the books from number one to five then i had to have a break due to what i would call a mind block.this break managed to last for two years, until i decided that i would begin the sixth book.i did and really noticed how much i had missed the wheel of time and all the differing things that occured inside.i am now eagerly awating the 8th book with excitement..
Rating: Summary: Good but nothing about Mat !! Review: I' m a long time fan of Jordans work and i enjoyed his latest book. Some of the things you expected to happend did, and i liked the part about Elayne and Aviendha and some parts about Rand and to my suprise the things about Perrin. But my biggest letdown what that there wasn't anything about Mat. I guess the next book will be almost only Mat. but thats a weak comfort when that date is 2 years away.
Rating: Summary: The long windedness is what it is all about. Review: From what I've seen by the comments listed, most agree that Jordan is a very good author. However, a few of the comments posted complain of his long "windedness" (so to speak). I agree with that assumption but, I don't think that is a negative mark on his part. Fantasy,in general, is a type of literature in which the author transports you into a world in which things usually aren't based on reality. (Symbolism and references to "our world" not withstanding.) I think Jordan's series could not be as sucessfull without this attention to detail and his lengthy plot develpment. Losing oneself in a book (without the use of drugs) can only be accomplished with "long winded" descriptions and suspenceful plot characterizations. As everyone knows, THIS is what FANTASY is all about.
Rating: Summary: Horrible !! In Austria we have to wait until December !! Review: I started to absorb those 6100 pages 2 years ago until I reached the end of Part 6 just-in-time of the "A Crown of Swords" release. I loved it, but couldn't believe it not over yet. Considering RJ's seemingly never-ending breath and therefore expecting a new 1000-pages-tribute to Rand and his friends, I enjoyed myself in the meantime with other Fantasy by M.Rawn, T.Goodkind, G.R.R.Martin and so on. But now I WANT THAT SEQUEL !!! I restarted the whole episode, because I can't remember a thing (not even the Seanchan!)and being right now with "The Dragon Reborn" and I hope to make it 'til December, where you probably have read it already and start moaning about waiting again (or does it end with #8 ??)!! Well, enjoy it anyway, I'm not too far behind !!
Rating: Summary: The Best {:^) Review: WOT is the best. It's that simple. Nowhere else have I seen and read such a realistic, enthralling, and just plain great series. As for those who think Tolkien is better, think again. Tolkien is gloomy, dark, only develops a few of his charictors, and has no female charitors. In the hobbit, it's almost as though he plays 'eenie meenie minie moe' over which dwarf says what. WOT RULES!!
